WLS requires us to change our lives, for the ones around us they just don't get it. I have had some people around me put WLS down Becuse they don't know anything about it. For some spouses it scares them Becuse they want you to stay fat so you won't leave them all alone. So they act out and put you down. I'm sure your partner does care for you they are just afraid of change.they should walk in our shoes and see what change we have to go though every day. My wife worried when this all started that I would cheat on here like her ex did 14 years ago. But after long talks and taking her to RNY support group meetings she under stands what I'm going though and now is my cheerleader Hope everything work out for you Surgery Anniversary 7/30/12

Day 6 Of Pre Op Liquid Diet
PaulB replied to Sharma Castillo's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Your new pouch will hold about 3 oz and over time will stretch to hold around a cup. So some times we feel like we can eat more but remember you need to stop from over eating Becuse it takes 20 minutes for the pouch to tell the brain that your full. I have learned to slow down and eat slow take small bits don't drink 30 minutes befor and after. This you should already know. The most I portent thing I can pass along is try to get your Protein in and Water. In the early stages after surgery don't worry so much about calorie counting try to keep your carb count under 60 g and your protein around 80-100 g a day. And the weight will just fall off. And listen to your doctor I'm down 62 lbs and haven't been this light since high school and I like the way I look and you will like the way you look it just takes time. Hang in there and be tough Surgery Anniversary 7/30/12 -
The bad news is there is a high rate of separation after WLS not all of it is the WLS patient fault. Spouse don't want change they think that when we get thin we wont want our spouses any more. Or the spouse get jealous of what we have done and won't change with us. Can't they see we do this Becuse we love them and our kids and just want to be healthy for them. Sorry for your problem you have gone though a lot and to have to deal with spouse that is afraid. Yes afraid . I'm no marriage counsellor and don't know what to tell you but hope it al works out if not. You will be slim and hot and ready for what ever comes along next. I have posted here before if I wasnt married this would be a great please to meet hot skinny chicks. ( don't tell my wife I said that) LOL Any time you need to vent just let it out we this Fourm is here for you PS nice weight loss keep it up Surgery Anniversary 7/30/12

Wow sorry for your loss. Nobody should have to go though watching their child die in front of them, but she knew you were there and may have given her some comfort in the end. Now you sound like a strong woman and are back on track. Stay strong and we are here for you Surgery Anniversary 7/30/12

Your problem has come up at support group meeting . What I'm told is your pouch will hold about 2-3 oz of food ver time your pouch will grow to hold about a cup of food. The slower you eat and the longer you take to eat the more you should be able to get in. So as time goes by 2-3 oz at times will grow to be 3-4 or 4-5 oz. but not all the time I feel, this way at times and have to stop my self from eating to much Becuse it takes 20 min for your pouch to send the signal to your brain that you are full. And if you over eat it will stretch your new pouch and hurt like hell. So to make a logs answer short there is nothing wrong with your eating. As far as your legs go are you walking to much after surgery and it still happens today my knees hurt when I walk to much. But it is still a good idea to talk to your doctor about your legs Surgery Anniversary 7/30/12

The liquid diet part is just the warm up for what's coming. Just kidding. By the time my surgery date came I was so tired of Jello and liquids and then had to be on them for 2 weeks after surgery. 9 more day will fly by good luck on your surgery you will be fine Surgery Anniversary 7/30/12 -

I got the same thing from my nutritionist they want you to spread it out all day long not in one sitting. And would like you to get it from food not by drinking it or eating protein bars. They are good for when you can't have a meal not instead of Surgery Anniversary 7/30/12

Yes use Splenda you can use sugar free creamer to If you can put up with the taste. As far as calorie count I could never get in enough calories to worrie about. sF pudding has like 80 cals per 1/2 cup don't hold me to that. liquid diet is the worst part after surgery it gets EZ you won't want to eat food will make you sick, but your brain will tell you to eat DON'T Listen to it and your old pouch will grumble at times to really loud it funny to hear it when your talking to friends and it start. For me I needed to lose 120 pounds to be at doctor recommended hight and weight scale for my age group as of today I have lost 61 lbs 46 lbs from date of surgery and 15 before surgery. Doctor says we should shot for 165 but may not be health at that weight may have to stop around 175-180 depending on how much I work out and build muscle at gym. Good luck Surgery Anniversary 7/30/12

I went though the same thing you are going though. After researching them all and going to gastric support group meetings and listing to the people there I went with the by pass. If your still in doubt see if there is a group support meeting around you ask your doctor he would know. There you can meet other people that are going though and have gone though WLS and can answer any of your questions. Good luck on your new Journy Surgery Anniversary 7/30/12

Yes you can eat prime rib 2-3 oz at a time. In that picture it would take you 10 meals to get though it all and that's just the meat. And we wonder how we got over weight. Surgery Anniversary 7/30/12

Sara lee makes whole wheat bread that's only 45 cal a slice and 10 carbs very light and taste is not bad at all. We make pizza pockets out of it and goes over really well with the kids. Now if they could just make it glutin free We also make cauliflower pizza check it out on pintrest along with crust less pizza Surgery Anniversary 7/30/12
