My First Wow Moment!

I. Can not take credit for any of these recipes they just sound good The web is full of recipes No-Noodle Lasagna This recipe is suitable for the pureed food stage. Ingredients: Low fat ricotta cheese Spaghetti sauce (look for sugar free sauce) Grated parmesan cheese Directions: Put two tablespoons of ricotta cheese in a bowl. Top with one tablespoon of spaghetti sauce and one tablespoon of grated parmesan cheese. Microwave for three minutes. Variation: One you progress to the soft stage, you can add cooked ground beef to the lasagna if you like. Refried Bean Delight This recipe is suitable for both the pureed stage and the soft stage. Ingredients: Fat free refried Beans Salsa Shredded cheddar cheese Directions: Put two tablespoons of refried beans in a bowl. Top with one teaspoon of salsa and one tablespoon of shredded cheddar cheese. Microwave for three minutes. Cheese and Veggie Casserole This is suitable for the soft stage, but not for the pureed stage. Ingredients: Two cups of cottage cheese Half cup of shredded cheese (whichever type of cheese you prefer - I like it with grated parmesan) wo eggs (or the equivalent of Egg Beaters) One bag of frozen vegetables (broccoli is good, or broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots) Directions: Mix all ingredients in a casserole dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. One cup equals one serving, although you may need to eat less than that, depending on how much food fills you up at this stage. Tomato Crab Soup Ingredients * 3 cups tomato juice * 12 ounces evaporated milk * 1-2 small onions * ½ teaspoon basil * 1/8 teaspoon red pepper flakes * 3 tablespoons flour * ¼ teaspoon old bay seasoning * 3 tablespoons olive oil * ¼ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce * 1 teaspoon Splenda sweetener * 10 ounces lump crab meat * ¼ teaspoon thyme * 1 clove garlic * Salt and pepper - as per taste Directions Chop onion and garlic into fine pieces. Heat olive oil in a deep bottomed cooking pan and fry the onion and garlic for 8-10 minutes. When they become transparent, put in the flour and stir for a minute or two. Pour in the milk, tomato juice, red pepper flakes, sweetener, thyme, basil, salt, pepper and old bay seasoning and continue to stir. Cook in a high to medium flame. When the mixture starts boiling, turn the flame to low. Simmer for at least 15 minutes, but do not forget to stir in between. Stir in the crab meat and switch off the flame. Scallops! Good For Soft Stage
PaulB replied to moofish's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My daughter is in collage studying Culinary and nutrition she got the cooking bug from me and went to the next step. Now she comes home with new recipes for me to try just as soon as I get to reg food. Why did we have a problem with food when it's so easy to eat Heath. I know I like to cook for family and friends and eat what I cook. I will still cook but not eat so much any more. And when my wallet sorry my daughter comes home she can't wait to tell me about all she learned in nutrition class and what it will do for me. I hope everyone has support like I do Surgery Anniversary 7/30/12 -

Why can't you have applesauce no sugar added or sugar free. I'm 3 1/2 weeks post op and doctor says that's fine. But that may not be what your doc want so do what your doc says. Haven't tried any Med's yet hoping apples will work Good luck Surgery Anniversary 7/30/12

You may also want to check with your doctor about support group meetings in your area. I joined one then my wife came along with me to a meeting. Together we now understand why I over ate and what to do about it. They are non- judgementel and like this Fourm full of people that have been struggling with their weight and are now in control of their weight. Support groups are not for everyone but may help to talk to people face to face Surgery Anniversary 7/30/12 -
We are here to listen to your story. If you need anything just ask. This is a great Fourm with very smart people on it. And everybody can contribute no questions are stupid. Surgery Anniversary 7/30/12

We love seafood and I'm always grilling broiling baking some type of seafood can't wait to try this as soon as I get to the soft food stage. Thanks Surgery Anniversary 7/30/12 -
Just a short vacation from what made us this way. Then we can start to eat the right way. The way we should have all along. ( that's what the people that could eat what ever they wanted to and not gain a lb tell us.) We will be in this battle all our lives. We just got a second chance lets not screw it up with what got us here. Don't go over board on the Bucket list but have a last go at foods that will be on the ( Do No Touch List) enjoy Surgery Anniversary 7/30/12

Big don glad everything is going well. When they took my catheter out it took a good 8 hours for the pee to start flowing on its own. Then it wasn't much but made the nurse happy. Surgery Anniversary 7/30/12
