    Any Band converters under........

I was 216 on surgery date,my weight has always been up and down thing. I'm 5'5" I got down to 150 a few years ago on my own then menopause set in, weight gain yet again. My insurance covered everything so I went for it. I am 16 months post op and weight 163, a 53 lb loss is not my idea of bypass surgery but my dr. said stop focusing on the # but how you feel. I thought I would get down to at least 150 without any issues but this is what it is. I run 5 miles a day, eat what I am suppose to eat, it just won't come off. I also have thyroid issues as well.

    Pain?!

Could it be some type of food you are eating giving you gas?
  4. I'm 16 months post op and I totally understand where you are coming from. You want to maintain that buzz but the only way you can do it is to constantly have your wine glass full. Its real easy to get to the point of drinking a bottle a night. I was adding up all the empty calories and WOW ... way too many calories for me so I stopped drinking and having my glass of wine which turned into a bottle of wine. Be careful !!!!
  5. I would wait until I got my surgeons clearance before I did anything. Its not fun being sick for hours because you did not chew something right or its caught..... OMG that is so painful and you can't do anything !!! Can you steam or get your veggies soft first then when you advance go raw. I would think that raw veggies are VERY difficult to digest... I don't know if the pain would be worth it.
  6. LOL I'm just the opposite !! I was not a big fan of eggs before surgery now I love em' I'm glad because they are a good source of protein and low in fat and calories. I cannot eat meat now...just a big turn off post surgery but I can do seafood. I think we all have some tradeoffs with this surgery !!!

    Going back to LIQUIDS?

I had periods like that too, my surgeon told me to go back to very soft or liquid for a day or two then go back to the stage I was in. But a little at a time. Somethings hurt real bad and others don't. Example, tuna hurt real bad for me when I was in the soft stage so I did not eat it but revisited it like 8 months later and now I am fine with it. Just keep trying different things, can you take a natural laxative or stool softener? prunes ??

    How much Calories are enough?

I would check with your doctor, my doctor gave me a detailed eating plan for every stage of the process. I followed it exactly.

I did not have any of those problems ... you were smart in contacting your dr. right away. They will get you back on track right away. Good Luck !!!

    Gallbladder attack

I had my RNY 4/9/12 and my GB removed 6/26/12... I had a really bad attack one day, very bad pain under ribs. My GB was loaded with stones. Since it was only 10 wks post RNY, obviously I had the stones way before RNY. For those of you who are pre-RNY, I would get your GB checked out and while they are in there remove it as well. Its saves time on another surgery.

    Can't tell when I'm full

You should follow what your surgeon has provided. Example, when I was in the soft stage, I had 1/2 cup cottage cheese and 1/2 cup yogurt for breakfast. Lunch was 1/2 soup etc. etc... Follow the meal plan they provide and you will be doing fine.

    Stressed!

Once you have RNY food is such a turn off, at least for me. You don't even feel hungry at all. I had to remember to eat so don't worry about that the surgery helps you with this - I swear !!!!!
  14. You will do just fine, stop over thinking everything because you will drive yourself nuts. You have every right to be nervous and scared because we all were. RNY is a huge help in curving your appetite and you really can't eat that much either. I am 16 months post op and eat regular food but......my food choices are healthy, I learned portion control and exercise are the key ingredients to success with RNY surgery. Embrace the surgery and worth with it on the positive side of you can and will do this with the help of surgery. Eat good healthy food, in moderation, know your weakness and stay away form them and exercise= success
  15. I really need to calculate exactly how much protein I am getting from food daily, I don't eat meat anymore after surgery... I just don't have the taste for it. I will eat fish however... I am probably not getting enough protein. I should drink a shake after my run in the morning.. I use to do that but stopped, I think I will start again. Thanks for the tip Music1618
  16. I am 16 months post op and eating totally normal foods... do I still have to get my 64 grams of protein in daily like when I was on liquid only?

    Anti-inflamatories

I have a torn rotator cuff which is EXTREMELY painful. I am 16 months post op. My Ortho. dr. has me on Meloxican which I would not be able to function without it. I have been on the anti inflams for the past 3 weeks.... I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
  18. I had RNY because you lose the most amount of weight with that type of surgery. I had no complications what so ever, I am 16 months post op, I eat normal food now but in a much, much smaller quantity. I run 5 miles every day, I have learned portion control, healthy food choices. My surgeon required that I get min. 64 grams of Protein in daily, I did this by drinking a Protein shake. This was all when I was still on soft foods. Once you switch over to regular food you are suppose to get your protein in from the lean chicken, beef, dairy products, etc. I do have a tiny bit of sweets every now and then but now I know when to stop. If I do indulge then very next day I work out extra so burn off the sweets I ate. You asked great questions, everyone's healing time is different, I was lucky where I was back to work in 1 week !!! ONLY YOU can make this surgery a success, its all in the package: portion control, exercise and healthy food choices. If you do all three... you will be a success stroy

  21. My opinion - and I am a business woman who works in the medical field, I wear business attire and scrubs at times. But most of the time I am in business clothes. So to answer your question, the tattoo thing in the business world is kind of a non-no where I come from unless you are in the arts. I work for a very conservative company and also past employers have also frowned upon tattoos. I have a tattoo on my hip and one on my ankle so no one really notices the one on my ankle and the hip one has not see the light of day in years Shirts and button up blouses can be relatively inexpensive, you can even put a t-shirt under a suit jacket or a proper fitting cami. There are so many clothing options out there, I would not expose the tatts - people judge very critically about tatts and are totally wrong in doing so.

    Lost for words...

You certainly did have a horrible day !!! But look on the bright side, tomorrow will be a new day, pick yourself up, dust yourself off and move forward and don't look back. Maybe look at ways to make your house more secure. Things can only go up from this point, you hit rock bottom already. Chin up
  24. Yeah... good luck and hope you have a speedy recovery !
