How Much Out Of Pocket?
BBdoodle replied to cutiepieme's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did you ask them why and what is the 3K charge for? Did you know that there would be a charge "before" you booked surgery. -
My surgery date came up soooo quick, it took two months from when I went for a class at my surgeons office until surgery. My surgery was on April 9th and I did not tell alot of people either. Of course my family knew and a few close friends at work but that is about it. I am new to this site and it seems pretty supportive. EVERYONE has anxiety before surgery, I am having surgery on the 26th to remove my gallbladder, this surgery will be done by my gastric bypass surgeon. I just started to heal where the incisions were too. He said he will not make any new scars and use the same incision spots. I'm just not looking forward to more surgery expecially when I am feeling fantastic !!!

GOOD LUCK with your surgery -
When is your surgery? You have every right to be scared, I was extremely scared but wanted the battle with my weight to be over and done with. You have a support group here on RNY and your hubby and me THINK POSITIVE THOUGHTS

Post Op Day 3, Gas Pains
BBdoodle replied to nomorefat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery on a monday, came home on a Wednesday and started eliminating my gas by Friday. I had the shoulder pain for about 2 wks. post op. I found the more I got up and moved around the better I felt. -
I'm 8 wks. post op and have felt lots of different emotions. I gave up 3 major friends in my life that were doing me harm... #1 food, #2 smoking, #3 diet soda (8 cans/day). Since I gave up my 3 favorite friends I did/do feel lost a bit. I have traded them for new friends who are health, good healthy food and a better way of life. It does get better as the days/weeks pass when your body heals and you start adjusting to life without the constant obsession with food.

Tried To Go Back To Work
BBdoodle replied to armywifet's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel you really need the time off to heal but unfortunately some of us cannot afford to do that, I really wish I could because I would have been off the whole 6 wks they allow for this surgery It took me 6wks to feel 100% after surgery. -
Tried To Go Back To Work
BBdoodle replied to armywifet's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery on a Monday and was back to work the following Monday. I have a office job I worked 1/2 days in the office and went home at noon and worked from home in the afternoons. I did that for the 2nd week and by the 3rd week I was back full days. It was difficult, I cannot afford to go on disability since they only pay 66% of your salary. I used my vacation days for the week of surgery. It took a good 6 weeks for me to feel totally OK. I am 8 wks post op and feeling really good, unfortuantely I have to have my gallbladder removed on 6/26 the same surgeon is doing this surgery that did my bypass, he said he will use the same incision sites. Just when I was feeling 100% I have to go under the knife again and back to squre one - arrrrggggg. You will feel better as the weeks pass -
I have Horizon BC/BS and my co-pay was $250.00 also, that was for the hospital stay. It was awesome that they covered everything !!!.
