I'm finding out if you chew-chew-chew-chew I'm ok but still afraid to try certain things and when I do try certain things for the first time I can't tell you how much I chew it !!!!

Feel Bad For All With Long Waiting Periods
BBdoodle replied to Jen in SoCal's topic in Insurance & Financing
Mine happened fast as well, not as fast a you but went for my first Class on Jan. 28th and had surgery on April 9 which was a little over 2 months. I had to get lots of testing done first, sleep study, endoscopy, colonoscopy, etc. etc. For those 2 months I did so much running but it was all worth it in the end. I must say I am really tired of going to the doctors. I now have to have my gallbladder removed on the 26th of this month - arrrrggghhhhh. -
I Tried A Protein Pack Last Night. It Was Unflavored Unjury
BBdoodle replied to ajdv84's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use Isopure "Dutch Cholocate" and like it, I mix it with skim milk. I received a free sample of Unjury when I was in the hospital but have not tried it yet. -
Surgery Tomorrow Need Help
BBdoodle replied to disneynut02's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you were on liquids all day and then took the laxative there really would not be much in your bowels if you are regular in your bowel movements if you know what I mean. If there was nothing in your system to poop out then you probably would have only went once. Good luck with your surgery -
Don't feel bad.... I am a HUGE baby when it comes to pain, I cannot tolerate any pain what so ever. I'm not doctor but your pain sounds like it could be gas. My surgery was on a Monday and I did not release my gas until Friday/Saturday and I had some really bad pains. I had gas pains in my shoulders for about 2 wks. Don't ever hesitate to call your doctor - that is what you/insurance company is paying him for !!!! Also when your body is in pain it takes longer to heal so absolutely call for more pain meds !!!!

The Best Time To Drink Protein Shakes.....
BBdoodle replied to tragedy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I split my protein shakes, I take 64 grams of protein a day, I make a shake in the morning and have half for a snack at 10:30 am and drink the other half around 2:30 - 3:00pm. I kind of use my shakes as snacks because they are very filling. It is very important to get your protein .... you don't want to loose hair !!! -
I think it all depends on the person. My sister took the whole 6 wks allowed by disability insurance. I took a week and went back to work the following week and worked half days in the office and half days at home. It was difficult but I could not afford to be on disability at 66% of your salary. If I could of taken 6 wks off I would have. I started feeling better and 100% at about 5-6 weeks. It all depends on how you feel. When I was in the hospital I was up walking around that evening there were two other bypass people on my floor, they could not even move. I was told by my doctor to walk - walk- walk.. you will feel better quicker and eliminate the gas sooner - so I did what he said - LOL

Vomiting Daily Does It Get Better?
BBdoodle replied to TinyMamiOf3kids's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The only time I would vomit is when I ate too fast and/or did not chew my food well. My doctor told me when this happens to go back to liquid diet for a day or two to let everything calm down. It will pass, I hope you feel better soon. Take your time chewing and eating, take very small bites at first and chew-chew-chew, even with liquids baby sips. Feel better sweeite -
I am 8 wks. post op and once I had real bad pains right in the middle of my chest, right below my boods. It was really bad... I thought I was having a heart attack, I called me dr. and they said it may be gall stones. I had a ultrasound done and sure enough I had a bunch of gallstones that caused the attack. I am having gallbladder removal surgery on the 26th - arrrrhhhhh. You may want to check with your doctor about this pain.

RNY Guru is sooooo right.... even though you can't eat food you MUST get your Water and Protein, my dr. always says "sip-sip-sip all day long" its is sooooo important to get your water and protein DAILY. It will make you feel better and have energy. Also the exercise helps it produces endorphins (sp) which is a naural high I hear you... when I had spells of not felling well the last thing you want to have is water or food but I forced myself !!!

Pro Op Testing Today Found Hernia!
BBdoodle replied to fluffylady's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a upper GI prior to surgery which the report said there was nothing and everything was good for surgery. When I saw my dr. after surgery the first thing he said to me was "you had a hiatial hernia" which he removed/fixed. The dr. will take care of everything while he is in there - no biggie. -
Dancing The Insurance Got Approved Jig!
BBdoodle replied to SheVsMe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
CONGRATS - I remember that feeling well - it was the BEST when the dr.'s office called and said "YOU ARE APPROVED" - I was like Wooooohoooooooooooo - yesssssssssssssssssssss I'm happy for you -
Not weird at all.... I ask you "why do you even have to tell anyone?" I told my family and very close friends and my very close work friends but the rest of the people in my life I owe no explination what so ever, it your business and you tell who you want to tell. When people say "you lost weight" or "you look good - how much weight have you lost"? I say thanks and I'm on a diet & exercising. Thats it - please don't feel obligated to tell anyone anything. Surgery is not the easy way out as all of us post-op people know !!!

What Is Your Pre-Op Diet? Did You Have One? If So What Did It Entail?
BBdoodle replied to LosingItForMe2011's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did not have any pre-op diet, just the day before surgery a light liquid/soup/yogurt type food. -
There are lots of things you can do right at home to workout as "mignonsmom" above just walk or take two Soup cans and lift weights etc. You can get DVD's that have exercise programs, you might want to try yoga which is such a stress reliever. You don't have to do all the positions perfectly but can try and as you loose you will be able to do more. You don't have to start out by running a marathon.... just baby steps. Walk 10 minutes one day and then increase it 5 minutes each day. Also walking/exercising is a great stress reliever. Look inside yourself for support and don't depend on anyone, talk to yourself and motivate yourself. It sounds crazy I know but these are little tips that work for me.

Sounds yummie - I am going to try this THANKS

My Fitness Pal is a cool app. My boss lost 100 lbs using/tracking everything he eats/exercise on MFP.
-
Yep.... I have it all the time... sometimes very loud other times not so loud. I was hoping no one hears it except me. I get it when I drink liquids
-
I had the exact same thing, whole right thigh totally numb in the front. I asked my doctor and he said that it is from the cautery (the tool they use to cut/burn in surgery) needs to be grounded to you, its kind of a electrical thing. When I had hernia surgery the same thing happened. I am 8 wks post op and the numbness lasted about 5-6 weeks, it does go away... some sooner than later, mine lasted a while.
-
How far post-op are you? could it have been gas? because sometimes gas pains are so intense it feels like a knife stabing you. Either way call your Dr. ASAP !!!
-
Congrats

Every step no matter how big or small is a step in the right direction AWESOME work !!!

My doctor suggested cottage cheese, yogurt, cream of wheat, creamy soups, tuna w/lilght mayo, mosist fish... in other words soft wet food. For some strange reason I was able to eat pretzels 4 wks post op. I chewed them real well though. If I ate something that was not working I knew IMMEDITELY, it just would feel funny going down. I really never had any vomiting issues but the first 4-6 weeks if I did not chew my food really-really well I would get the "foamies" where I would spit up foamy syliva for hours and be totally uncomfortable. Once I chewed my food 50+ times then I was OK. It was the worst to go thru that, the foamies would last any where from a hour to 12 hours (my worst case). That is the way my body was telling me to chew my food more.
