Are Men As A Rule A$@es Or Are They Just Stupid?
BBdoodle replied to Bert_n_ernie's topic in The Gals' Room
The answer to your question is YES !!!!! I'm was lucky where I did not have to be on any diet before surgery. The only time my BF talked about food was when I was doing the colonoscopy prep. I was running to the bathroom every 5 seconds and was hungry as heck and could not eat. He was hungry too and kept on saying all the foods he wanted.. I just kept on saying "shut up" PLEASE !!!!! Men arrrghhhh !!!! -
Anxious Would Be An Understatement!
BBdoodle replied to SoccerMomma73's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I receoverd from RNY pretty quick where my sister took much longer. I think it all depends on the person. I was in the hopsital for 2 1/2 days. My surgery was on a Monday, come home wednesday and back to work the following Monday. I worked 1/2 days in the office and 1/2 at home for the 2nd week. By the 3 week I was ok to go back full days. -
It sounds like you are in the right spot !!! I am a emotional eater as well and I ate all my fav. foods before surgery. My doctor did not put me on any diet before surgery, just the day before I had to eat light. Now I am 4 months post op and at time I am hungry and crave certain things... once I taste them I really don't like them anymore. Since surgery my taste has changed and I don't revolve everything around food anymore. I get full real quick too !!! This surgery is the best !!!! I am sooooo glad I did it.

I am 14 wks post op and have had a small glass of soda, diet of course - the only soda I drank. Nothing happened. My doctor's office said absolutely NO SODA but I was dying to try it. I miss drinking soda but am OK with ice tea, waters, etc.

BBdoodle replied to Beachbum's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ever since surgery mine have been yellow or green. I had my gallbladder removed on 6/26 and then they really turned green. I spoke to my doctor about this and he said not to worry its all normal. -
Gallbladder Rny It Feels The Same? O.0
BBdoodle replied to babysteps's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had my RNY on April 9th and ended up having my gallbladder removed on June 26th. The gallbladder did not hurt as much as the RNY but the recovery time was about the same. I felt weak and uncomfortable for about 2 weeks after both surgeries. I'm glad that is all behind me and I am on my way to feeling 110% -

BBdoodle replied to worm2872's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Two Opts In One! :(
BBdoodle replied to preshiz pink's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Pink.... get it done all at once. I had my RNY on 4/9 then ending up with a really bad gallbladder attack, had a ultrasound done and had to have another surgery 6/26. It was not fun having two major surgeries in such a short time. I really wish doctors would have your gallbladder checked BEFORE RNY surgery so they can do everything all at once. -
My body's form of dumping was a spit up of very foamy syliva (sorry for being so graphic), and feeling like total crap for an hour and up to 12 hours. I got this from not chewing my food properly, and after this happened a few times you better believe I CHEW-CHEW-CHEW-CHEW !!! lesson learned !!!

awesome... how are you feeling? My doctor was very clear on the fact that I do not use a straw. I see in you pic. that you are sipping liquids which is good but from a straw is a no-no. From what I understand a straw allows a lot more air in. I was a big soda drinker with a straw because a straw is a good thing on NON - RNY patients because it bypasses your teeth and your teeth don't get stained as much. I do miss my straw You will be so happy to get home and relax.. the worst is over with !!!

Im Hoping For Snap Back !
BBdoodle replied to preshiz pink's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
The younger you are the more elasticity your skin has but if you have hundreds of lbs. to loose no matter how young you are your skin can only do so much. Keep hydrated and keep your skin in good condition, exfoliate often and use a good moisturizer. There is no mericle cream out there so don't waste your money on that stuff, its just good common sense and proper diet will help. -
Underactive Thyroid Question
BBdoodle replied to Anniesmom12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My weight was up and down ever since I developed a thyroid problem. At one point I lost 100 lbs. by diet and exercise and my thyroid stayed the same. I don't see how loosing weight would effect your thyroid ?? does not make sense. -
At first when I woke up from surgery I was like "OMG why did I do this" of course after the day wore on and I got use to the uncomfortableness I was OK. Once I got up and started moving around and was able to walk off the gas I was good to go and never regretted the surgery after that.

A Little Encouragement To Those Who Are Struggling

I'm glad you are on the mend and feeling better and more positive... stay strong !!! -
I had pretzels about 3 wks. post op... I chewed the heck out of them and made them into mush before I swollowed. I am 13 wks post op now and I have cheese-its, pretzels etc. but am very careful to CHEW, CHEW, CHEW !!!! Check with your doctor.

I do OK with tortillas but in small portions and I too do not eat the ends. Watermellon on the other hand is a no-no for me, for some strange reason I cannot process the meaty part and it feels like it gets stuck going down. I love watermellon and miss it. That was about 3-4 weeks ago, I may give it another try and see what happens.

AWESOME - keep up the good work - CONGRATS !!!

Underactive Thyroid Question
BBdoodle replied to Anniesmom12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my thyroid removed a really long time ago, I have been on thyroid hormone replacement meds ever since. I am hypothyroid (underactive), my meds have not changed and my thyroid function blood work has remained the same since surgery. I still take the same amount of thyroid meds after surgery as I did before. I am 13 wks RNY post op. -

Frustrated, Disappointed, Annoyed And Need To Complain
BBdoodle replied to aleyampat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't let cloting size numbers upset you, it sounds like you are caught in between sizes. This is only the first step in "many" different sizes. Wear you loose clothing for a while and then don't buy too much because your size will be changing quicker than you know it. -
Its difficult at times and then other times it is easy to pass up the things we once loved. My taste has changed soooooo much. The things I once loved do not even appeal to me and if they do, I taste them and say "I don't even like this anymore".. its strange - but a good thing I guess. Are you still on liquid?

Post Op Day 3 Help
BBdoodle replied to Bert_n_ernie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hang in there.... it gets better, continue to walk, do as your doctor tells you and the itching may be from your pain meds. Oxycodone makes me itch a bit. -
I too was instructed "NO STRAWS". I am 13 wks post op and only sip, sip, sip. I do miss using a straw !!!
