Burping And Feel Like The Food Coming Up
BBdoodle replied to arevivo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't have any burping problems but my thought was when you said you constantly burp are you drinking from a straw? My doctor said absolutely NO STRAWS, and to chew, chew, chew and eat very slowly which will help with the burping. -
I had a drain for 2 1/2 days, and it hurt like hell when he pulled it out - sorry but I am a BIG baby when it comes to pain !!!! It only hurt for a second..

You are healing... so your incisions are going to itch. I did not have any staples or stitches, I just had tape over my incisions. I would very gently scratch them when they itched.

I use Fage yogurt which was recommended by my doctor, I am not sure what the sugar is in Fage but since he recommended it that is what I use.

Your feelings are all normal... but in the end it is totally worth it. I do not regret it what so ever and would do it again if I had to !!!! Hang in there, ask questions, do research and get your support,..... you will do fine - GOOD LUCK

I was luck where I did not have to do the 6 month diet thing. My regular doctor wrote a letter to the insurance company saying that he has been my physician for 15+ years and that throughout that time my weight has been up and down and he felt that this surgery would be a permanent fix and I was approved right away. It all depends on your insurance but my RNY surgeon required a letter from my regular physician or they would not submit to insurance. I think a letter from your general physician helps a ton !!!

I'm 4 monts post op and before surgery I LOVED clams on a half shell with lemon and hot sauce. A couple of weeks ago I was at a picnic and tried a clam and for what ever reason I lost my taste for clams I have found that I lost my tatest for a lot of my fav. foods after surgery... i guess that is a good thing ?????

You should see your surgeon right before he starts. When I had my surgery, I was in a prep room and that is where my anestheologist (sp?) came in and we spoke for a few minutes and he answered any questions, then my Dr. came in to say hello and ask if Ihad any questions. Then after about 15 minutes the nurse came and got me, I had to walk to the OR and right before I walked into the OR they had me on the scale then I hopped on to the OR table, saw my dr. there once again he asked if I was OK and if I had any questions then it was light out - LOL.

Sounds like you are on the right road to the new your. Congrats on your surgery.. it only gets better from here on out !!! My surgery was April 9th and so many positive changes have happened since then. Keep up the good work

I have not had a bladder infection but ended up having my gallbladder removed 10 wks. after surgery. I had the gall stones before RNY surgery and after surgery I had a really bad gall bladder attack, felt like a heart attack, not fun. You are drinking enough water, which my dr. also recommends minimum 64 oz. of water a day. Some days I drink more some days less but I generally get the 64 in. I would talk to your bypass doctor about it. BTW cute picture of your and your doggie

Are you following your doctor's eating schedule and eating the appropriate foods? You may be just head hungry. This habit of constantly eating is a difficult one to break. I follow my doctor's orders to the "t". I eat 3 meals a day and have snacks when I need a little something. When I get home from work I am pretty hungry at times but as soon as I have a couple of table spoon full of food I am stuffed and don't eat anything for the rest of the evening, or maybe a surgar free, fat free ice pop. Have you discussed your problem with your doctor?

My doctor has a total of 3 surgeons in this practice... they all are on the same page with the diet which is almost exactly what yours is. I am 4 months post op and still just eat very soft mushy food, when I try different things sometimes my stomach hurts and/or I don't feel good. I have been sticking to what works best for me. Of course I tell my dr. that I am still on mushy food and he is ok with it as long as it is low calorie / low fat etc.

Protein Shake For Dummies....
BBdoodle replied to bpbeadles's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't feel bad we all are beginners at some point. I mix my protein shakes with fat free or 2 % milk. I mix with milk to get more portein. I never had my shake with water yet, always w/milk. I hate milk and never drink it so I figured if I have to it might as well be in the shake form. -
Changing Bariactric Surgeons After Surgery
BBdoodle replied to speedydvr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yikes... that sucks. With my insurance you can pick anyone you want as long as they participate with BlueCross/Horizon which most doctors do in NY& NJ. I would speak to your doctor that performed the surgery at your first post-op and tell him you are going to switch. I would check with the doctor that you want to go to to see if its OK to switch and get all your records sent to your new docotor. -
Hi.. I'm 4 months post op with RNY and my stomach gurgles all the time !!!! it did it from the first time I was allowed mushy food. I have gotten use to it. I guess after all the dust settles like when you are a year post op everything will get back to normal.

What Are Our Calorie Limits?
BBdoodle replied to SusieB29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor has not given me a calorie restriction. Just give amounts of food you should eat, example, 3-4 oz of fish, or 2-4 oz. fat free cheese, or 1/2 cup of veggies etc. etc. It sounds like you are eating too few calories and your body is in starvation mode which lowers your metabolism to conserve every drop of food it gets because it does not know when you will get more food. Pls. eat 3 meals a day and follow your doctors orders. Eat good healthy low fat, food.
