16 Days Out, I Need Help!
BBdoodle replied to swilkins's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would go back to square 1 ... start eating what you did right after surgery. As someone posted earlier... this is a tool... only you can make it work. You sound like a emotional eater, which I am. I would talk to your doctor and see what he says. When I was two weeks post op I could only eat very soft foods, I am almost 5 months post op and still afraid to eat certain things like meat etc. Get yourslef back on track !!! Get well and I hope you feel better soon. -
Congrats.... I just started running again on my treadmill and ran my first mile this morning !! It truly does feel great ... look out goals here I come !!! LOL
-
You look awesome.... keep up the great work !!!

It may be normal for you and your system. I go every morning sometime 1, 2, or 3 times. It all depends on what I ate the day before. I also just had my gallbladder removed at the end of June and with all the bile being dumped into my intestines I have constant diareha (sp?). I am even on anti-poop meds - LOL I was told it will take some time to work its way back to normal.

I'm 4 1/2 months post op. You are eating way less food now, so you are not pooping so much. The first week post-op I did not poop then it was back to regular poop schedule i would talk to your doctor about this or eat some prunes or drink prune juice -
wow - keep up the good work.

Not Feeling Well Should I Be Concerned?
BBdoodle replied to ~Christi~'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are not butting in . . . One morning I had this awful pain under my boobs, right across my chest. It was a dull pain. It lasted for about a hour and a half. It went away then came back for like 10 minutes later that night. It felt like a heart attack but I knew it wasn't because I had no other signs. I called my dr. and they said sounds like gall bladder - you need to get a ultrasound and sure enough - I had lots of stones !!! My RNY dr. did my gallbladder as well. I had the stones way before my RNY surgery. My dr. also put me on meds to prevent stones after RNY but since Ihad them already I stopped taking the meds. -
You will do fine, I had to go to a baby shower a week after surgery, OMG all the amazing foods they had and I was still on liquid. It was tough but I did it !!! stick to the healthy foods.... I love cheese curd too - LOL Cheese is good for you, lots of protein but in moderation and maybe they will have a low fat cheese curd Have fun and enjoy yourself !

New Here And Starting The Gastric Bypass Journey
BBdoodle replied to NoodlesMommy2011's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Morgan.... first let me say you are a beautiful young lady !!!! And it sounds like you are well on your way to becoming healthy. Your Mom looks fantastic and you will have her for support because its nice to have someone who has been thru this because they understand !!! Before I started the whole process I figured out why I overate !!! I think you have to solve the mental part of WHY to go to the next step (just my opinion). Once you figure out why then you can put stops in place so you don't go back there. The surgery is just a tool to help you along, you have to work with it, eat healthy and exercise. You are on the right road - good luck and looking forward to your updates -
Awwwww..... now that is inspiration !!! Keep up the good work

Find a exercise you like then it will not be a chore but something you look forward to doing. I love jogging.... it works for me. It took me a whole year to run a mile non-stop. Take baby steps and work up to what is confortable for YOU, of course with your doctors guidance.
-
Hang in there... each day gets better. If you can.... try walking as much as you can to eliminate the gas. Plus walking makes you feel better too. Hugs

I would check with your back doctor first to see what type of exercise is good for you and your back. You may want to consider a elliptical which is great for people with back/neck problems. I have two herniated disks in my neck, when my neck is bothering me I do not jog/run and I use my treadmill and eliptical until I feel better. My doctor suggests walking when I have a flare-up. I would check with your doctor first - you don't want to cause more harm !!

Not Feeling Well Should I Be Concerned?
BBdoodle replied to ~Christi~'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Christi, I am a little over 4 monts pre op (April 9th) and I go thru spells of feeling sluggish etc as well. I get in all my protein, vitimans, fluids on a daily basis as well. My dr. runs very extensive blood work at 3 months, 6 months and a year post op. My 3 month blood work was perfect. I had to have my gallbladder removed 10 wks after my RNY which put me a few steps back. As someone said in a earlier post, you get energized when you walk/exercise = get those endorfins going -lol. If it continues I would contact your doctor, maybe you need to up your B vitimans or something. At times I don't feel like working out either but I push myself and once I get started I always say "boy I'm glad I got motiviated because I feel good and have energy". -
Emergency Room :(
BBdoodle replied to punk.rock.mama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow.... I'm glad you are home and feeling better. Please stay on the pain meds. if on type does not work for you or you don't like it ask for something else. You body does not heal as fast if you are in pain. Don't wait until your pain is unbearable and then take the meds because you will not be able to control the pain. Take as directed...example. every 4 hours so your pain does not get to the point where you cannot control it. You must have been very scared... I know I would have been !!! Rest and take your meds. -
I am 53 and had my RNY surgery on April 9th. It was the best thing I ever did !!! I was very fortunate that my insurance paid for everything and I did not have to be on any diet. I had about 80 lbs. to loose, my BMI was 37 and I had high blood pressure. My general physician wrote a letter to the insurance which was required by my surgeon which helped as well. If you tried supervised diets in the past does your ins. accept that ? I know mine did but I did not have to go that route. My weight has been up and down for years and getting older I cannot work out like I use to when I would run 5-6 miles a day. I just can't do that anymore.... So I chose the RNY and am so happy I did MsCook had some really great motivators above. My little motivator was that I bought a really nice, expensive top and my 1st goal is to fit into it by the end of September. I have other goals set along the way... I'm taking baby steps and each goal I make for my self puts me that much closer to fit into my skinny clothes again. Good Luck

Feeling Discouraged
BBdoodle replied to jeanetteramirez2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hang in there.... some people lose it real slow and some people lose it real fast. I think all of us want instant gratification but with this surgery you have to work at it constantly. 17 lbs in 3 wks is awesome - keepup the good work. Are you cleared for exercise yet ? I lost a total of 40 in 4 months !!! I am losing VERY slow but am happy with the 40 lbs loss. -
1Lb A Week-Very Frustrating
BBdoodle replied to purpleamy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hear ya, I am 4 months post op (April 9th) and have only lost 40 lbs. I too stick to my dr. orders. But from what I hear if your BMI is under 40 which mine was and you have less than 100 lbs. to loose you take it off more slowly. I am satisfied with my weight loss, it is frustrating at times because you work sooo hard at it. I also experience stalls for a week or so then I start loosing again. Some weeks it is a 2-3 lbs loss other weeks 1 lbs. and some weeks nothing at all - bottom line..... At least your are not gaining !!!! -
First Non Scale Victory!
BBdoodle replied to jessamarie24's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Awesome.... Is that the best feeling or what ???? I too have times where the scale does not move for a week or so, don't get discouraged it will move again. I also bought a really pretty top which is my inspiration to get into by the end of september - that keeps me motivated, plus I spent a lot of money on the top too !!! Keep up the good work -
Oh no....... please feel better and keep taking those pain meds !!!! Hang in there !!!! Please keep us posted.

In Atlanta For Business And Food Issues!
BBdoodle replied to Wps2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I totally understand your situation.... I was back to work the week after surgery, we were having a baby shower for a co-worker, I had to cook food and then attend the shower and not eat anything because I was still on liquid. It was a busy shower and lots of people so no one really noticed that I was not eating or drinking. I did have a business lunch at the end of the week where it was just me and a vendor, we went to a diner and I had a spinach omlet, I chewed the heck out of the egg and spinach and ate about a tablespoon full. My vendor said "is there something wrong with your omlette? I said that I had surgery and I have to eat minimal food. He was fine with that answer and we just started talking about work. Honesty is the best policy, you can say you had surgery and can only have soft food OR that you are watching your weight etc. Make believe you are eating, cut up your food, move it around on your plate, take tiny bites and eat slowly!!! You can do it. Its tough but it can be done. BTW.... how are you feeling.... didn't you go to the emergency room a couple weeks back ???? -
I hear ya Mami..... Since you live in NY you will have tons of services available to you. Just look on line. It really must be so scary for you because you also have 3 kids to support as well. You CAN do this..... as I said in a earlier post, get all your ducks in a row, don't rush into anything and you will be fine. I don't know much about getting assisatnce but doing your research on-line will help you.
