All These Liquids!?
BBdoodle replied to kaaylaakaayyy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try ice pops, sugar free of course -
PROTEIN is a MUST. My hair is thin to begin with and I am worried as well. I make sure I get minimu 80 grams of protein daily no matter what !!!! I also take Biotin..... My doctor's office could not stress enough that if you take your protein you will not loose your hair - and you better believe I take my protein !!!!
-
YEAH !!! I know how you feel, my dr. had me do so many extra tests but it was all worth it. It is such a great feeling to get all the testing past you then just the anticipation to your surgery date - Wooohooo good luck !

So Frustrated!
BBdoodle replied to 2ndTimesTheCharm's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't get freaked out.... we all go thru it. I am stuck right now for the past 3 wks. I am 5 months post op so I increased my exercise. In the beginning I also had a week at times where I did not loose. This happens to lots of people don't get discouraged. The best thing you can do is exercise, get a real good sweat going, maybe purchase a heart rate monitor where it tells you what zone you are in. I realy on a heart rate monitor when I jog so I know I am in the fat burning zone. Good luck and you will be just fine.... I know it is frustrating !!! -

Are You Happy With Your Decision To Have The Surgery?
BBdoodle replied to kristikay's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am 5 months post op and this was the best decision I ever made. It angers me when people say surgery is the easy way out .... HELLOOOOO surgery easy way out !!!!!! NO surgery is easy. Everyone is different, men loose weight soooooo much quicker than females do. Educate him and go for it !!! No regrets here -
I have been doing yoga for about 4 years. First you need to get clearance from your doctor post op then if you take a class you do what you know your limits are. Tell your instructor that your are RNY post op etc. etc. I am 5 monts post op and do yoga on my Wii at home. I was cleared for all and any kind of exercise 1 month post op. I think it all depends on how well you do after surgery and your size as well. Yoga is awesome... you will love it. It makes my body and mind feel wonderful, I also sleep really well when I do yoga

If you get all your clearances....go for it !!! There is no better feeling that putting on those pants that never fit before or having someone look at you and say "God you look great"....its priceless -
Good luck I went to the hospital alone as well, it would have been nice to have some support but the way it worked out it was not a problem for me.

Bipolar And Needing Surgery
BBdoodle replied to kimpossible67's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is it that YOU want the surgery or your doctor?? The only way this surgery works is if the person is on board with the life style changes = exercise, eating healthy foods, portion control and wants to be a healthy weight. The first week or so was a little difficult getting use to the new way of eating but the rest is cake at least for me. Others have had major issues but I can only speak for myself where I would do it again if I had to and I had no major issues. I follow my doctor's instructions to a tee and feel fantastic, I am 5 months post op. It is the best thing I ever did !!! -
I think that the protein shakes are making me gassy, I too have green poops - LOL. If there is a day where I do not drink my protein shake those are the days I don't have gas.

Its the best feeling and encouragement when you can finally do things that you could not in the past and when you can fit AWESOME - keep up the great work - there is plenty more out there that you can now expierence.

I think we all have done "things" that we realize "wow I should not have done that" - LOL. You live and learn. My problem was learning to chew my food, I would get soooooooo sick if I did not chew. This is kind of gross but I would know the second I swallowed that this was not going to be good. I would get the "foamies" i would not spit up food or anything but would have constant very foamy syliva spit ups, I would have a fever, stomach pains that would last from any where from a hour to 12 hours. Believe me..... I learned to chew !!! We also learn quick of what foods we can eat/tolerate and what we cant. When I try new foods I do it in very small amounts and chew, chew, chew, chew, chew.

I am almost 5 months post op, I have tried almost all foods... meaning a bit or a very small piece. I was a bit confused that where my dr. said you will dump if you have sweets and fats, etc. etc. Some things I know will not sit right as soon as I have it but other things that I have tried I would think that would make me sick and it has not. Of course I am eating healthy and stay away from the foods that got me here in the first place but it is the curiosity. I think each of us are different and will react in different ways to foods. I do not count calories but go by ounces with my food. I make sure I get my protein and water in daily along with my vitimas. I follow my drs. plans and at times I am hungry but if I have a pretzel or something small it goes away. There is no way I can eat as much as I did before surgery.

Anyone Else Have No Problems?
BBdoodle replied to RoundedRed's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sound like you are doing so well, keep up the good work. There are still sooooo many things that can go wrong down the road. Even though you are feeling great don't push yourself, take the time to heal, rest, and ease your body into this totally new thing. I pushed myself a bit by going back to work the following week becaue I felt so good but I was very tired. Please take the time to heal and rest your body needs it. -
My taste buds have totally changed !!!! I thought I was the only one with that problem. I have tried a number of things that I once liked and now after WLS they taste totally different and I do not like them anymore !!!

I ate hard boiled eggs about 4 wks. after surgery, I chewed them really well thought. Once I was a bit hungry and did not chew so well and I was sick and hell. I have eaten a omlet with veggies and that was really good Check with your doctor.... eggs are such a good source of protein.

What about packing your lunch, the fast food is loaded with fat and sodium not to mention tons of calories. You have done so well from your surgery... don't let this get out of hand. Have you done the 5 day test diet ?? I am 5 months post op but have been reading about it. People that start to put back on the lbs. way after surgery do this 5 day diet to see if their pouch is still small.... check it out. Hopefully I will never have to use it !! I hear the 5 day diet of liquid gets you back on track.
