Every doctor's requirements are a little different. My doctor want you to get min. 64 grams of protein a day. I do better on a bit more, I usually try to get in 80 grams/day. I use the Isopure low carb Whey protein to get my 64 in a shake and the rest is from yogurt, cottage cheese, etc. etc.

2 1/2 Lb Weightloss In Month A Half.
BBdoodle replied to purpleamy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just got out of my rut, it was like 4 weeks and no weight loss what so ever = very deperessing !! I started jogging and increased the intensity of my workouts and that got me out of the rut. In the past two weeks I lost 4 lbs. Hang in there and definately change up something that you are doing. I also train with a heart rate monitor which I totally rely on to get my heart pumping in the fat burning zone. It makes you workouts worth while. -
LOL... you will get better at it. The first time I put roller blades on OMG it was a sight !!! Now I am like a pro Give it time... find a exercise you love and then it will not feel like you HAVE to exercise but you will look forward to working out. When I started jogging years ago, it took me one year to run a mile without stopping, keep up the good work

I posted about this in another post, there are lots of factors that = saggy skin, age, how fast you lose the weight. Working out is great and you will lose the fat but fat and skin are two different things. Skin is your largest organ and well fat is fat. It also depends on how big you were for how long. Once you stretch your skin so far to the point of no return it does not matter how young you are you are giong to sag. The slower you loose the better because your skin will have time go back it you were not very large, keep hydrated and keep your skin well lotioned, that helps but it will not prevent saggy skin.
-
Your muscle has nothing to do with your skin, of course lifting weights and cardio are fantastic for you in general but it all depends on your age, how big you were. The younger you are the better chance you have of your skin not hanging but if you have streched your skin past the point of no return then there is nothing you can do to repair except for surgery. There are "little" things you can do to help by keeping hydrated, invest in a good body lotion, and not loose weight too fast.

OMG.... I would get that... I called it the "foamies" As soon as I did not chew something well I knew the second I would swallow I would have the foamies. I would spit up really foamy syliva, big huge bubbles would come out of my mouth too !!! I would feel sick too !!! It would last anywhere from 1 hour to once I had the foamies for 12 hours straight and boy was I sick !!!! And it seems like every time I tried to swallow it was swallowing air and it would make it worse. There was nothing I could do but ride it out until it passed and it would stop very suddenly too, it was like one second you were sick and the next you were not !!!

I think everyone handles sugar in their own way. Some people can eat it and some not. I had a cookie and was OK and also a small ice cream cone. I am not going to push it though, I am 5 months post op.

Pain On Left Side.. What Could It Be?
BBdoodle replied to jessamarie24's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is always good to put your mind at ease by calling your doctor. You are going to feel all kinds of strange things but it does let up after a while when the healing is well on its way. I am 5 months post op and had gall bladder surgery 10 wks after my RNY and I just started feeling good about a month ago !!! Don't ever hesitate to call your doctor that is what you pay him for - he works for YOU !!!! My doctor has a nurse practitioner that screens his calls and she has helped me with my calls and if it is serious enough they will let me speak to my doctor. -
How Am I Eating So Much?
BBdoodle replied to cmarie317's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 5 months post op, I can eat 1 slice of pizza then I am extremely full. I don't eat the crust or anything, normally it would be like 4 slices. I totally watch the amount of food I am eating, what you ate is not much at all. -
Life Is A Little Depressing
BBdoodle replied to landensmommy10's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Right after surgery for some strange reason I would watch Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, the food looked great and I wanted to taste everything but was still on liquid. Once I drank something the food craving went away. -
Cheers and congrats it is such a great feeling when you hear that word "APPROVED" - LOL

I think everyone dumps in their own way and we all have different reactions to different things. My problem was that I was not chewing my food well enough and would spit up very foamy syliva for hours after it = horrible. I was eating very low fat/sugar things. And sometimes after surgery certain things just don't sit right with you any more.

Pain On Left Side.. What Could It Be?
BBdoodle replied to jessamarie24's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I still had aches and pains when I was 7 wks. post op. It could be gas plus it takes really long time to heal, your doctor did major re-wiring so to speak and 7 wks post op is no way near being healed. I would call your doctor just to be on the safe side. I would get sharp pains on my left side where it felt like someone was stabing me with a knife. -
I could only sip at first, now I am 5 months post op and can take regular sips now. But sometimes if I chug too much it hurts which puts me right back to "regular" sips.

My Name Is Kristy And I'm A ......
BBdoodle replied to kristy3k's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm like MsCook above, I am a dialy scale person too, I like to catch it early if I can for the same reasons above. Plus when I see a drop it gives me even more incentive to go that extra mile while working out I'm a daily weigher and dam proud of it - LOL -
My taste buds changed big time !!! The things I loved before now taste awful to me. Example = lunch meats, ALL of them taste discusting to me, there must be some type of preservative in them because I am tasting something chemical. I tried different brands, different stores etc. they all taste the same. This along with other things I have no taste for anymore. I'm OK with it because I have discoverd other more healthy things I like much better

Wow, congrats on your weight loss, please try and get your protein in, I can't stress how important it is for your nutrition and hair. LOL - I hate just plain water and it gave me heartburn and I did feel sick too when I would drink it. I always have to put something into it so I can drink.

Good luck.... I was nervous, excited, scared, happy...etc. but went thru surgery without any issues. Sending hugs and prayers your way... Please post when you can !!!

Week 5.... No Weight Loss
BBdoodle replied to mtbarry5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 5 months post op and for the past 3 wks the scale did not budge !!! I started to increase my exercise from walking to jogging and that gave me a jump start. I use a heart rate monitor to know that my heart is pumping and I am in the fat burning zone. You probably need to change something to jump start you losing again. I would start with either more exercise, or increase the intensity. Lots of people stall so it is totally normal. -
Its The Little Things
BBdoodle replied to Robin Lattierre's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Is that the best feeling or what !!!!!! keep up the good work and get exercising -
Your foot does not really gain lots of weight but it does gain some. I know I can honestly say that my feet do gain weight. When I was at my heaviest years ago I had a size 9.5 foot now I am down to a size 8 or 8.5 I am 5 months post op. If you can see your veins and tendons I would say go for it but if your feet have some weight on them I would wait until you get closer to your goal weight. The tatoo will be with your for the rest of your life... you don't want to loose tons of weight then have the tatoo look like crap.... I would wait !! Everyone's body (feet) are different.... maybe talk to the tatoo artist and see what they say.

Going Home.....i Hope!
BBdoodle replied to MommyHand's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Once you get home you will feel much better, I know I did !!! Welcome to the other side -
We all went thru that nervous/scared stage. You will do fine, I was fortunate enough that I did not have to go on a diet before surgery, just the day before I had to eat light. As far as the diet after surgery . .. . believe me... you are not going to be worried about that, you don't feel like eating what so ever !!! and when you do get hungry weeks and weeks after surgery, you eat a few teaspoon full of food and are stuffed !!! At least that is the way I felt - good luck on your surgery !!
