    ***slave To The Scale***

Oh I am a scale slave too !!! I like to weigh myself daily, it keeps me in check. I do not stress over the numbers. I do get disapointed but that only pushes me to go that extra mile or increase the intensity or not have a extra bite of something. You are so correct in the fact that you are looking at the whole picture and not just the number. My scale has not moved but only a couple of pounds in weeks !! I still stay strong, and I know it will move again soon - - - - I just don't get obsessed with the number and yes there is a whole lot more to health than the scale number !!! you are so right !!!
  2. They are obviously not educated on this ... what about the GOOD things this surgery can do !!! Weight loss, lower cholestrol, lower blood pressure, more mobility, you will have more energy, you will be eating healthy. Please tell them that the insurance companies would NOT be paying billions of dollars a year for this surgery if it was not beneficial to your healty and that it will prevent and eliminate existing health issues !!!!! There is more good than bad that comes out of this surgery by a mile !!!! We all pulled thru, some with more problems some with less but generally we are all happy we did it and I would do it again in a heart beat !!!! Please dont let other people's negative thoughts get into your head... they just don't know.... educate them !

    Five Months Post Op

I will be 6 months post op on 10/9 and finally feeling fantastic !!! I had to have gallbladder surgery 10 wks after my RNY so that put me back a bit. Then healing from two major surgeries was tough. I did sall thru both surgeries without any problems what so ever. My weight loss has been slow and I am at a standstill right now. I only lost 41 lbs. so far and have 40 lbs to go, now that I started jogging I feel my clothes getting loose but the scale only moved 1 lb. either way what just fit is now fitting great or loose. This was the best thing I ever did !!! what a great tool to assist in your weight loss.

    Can't Make My Body Happy

I find that when I eat 3 meals a day and a very small snack in between "IF" I get hungry I am OK. The way my doctors office says this whole thing works is to stop drinking 1 hr. before you eat your meal and do not drink a hour after your meal. So the food stays in your pouch and you feel full for a longer period of time. Eating breakfast, lunch and dinner where there is a min. of 3-4 hours between meals is good... you keep your metabolisim up etc. I know its difficult to get all your water in by not drinking 6 hours out of the day but as you get further along in your recovery you can adjust. What works for me is the 3 meals a day !!!

    Home From Hospital!

Congrats.... it takes time to work up to your required water and protein. All I did was sip, sip, sip, sip all day and all night. I used my protein as my breakfast because it was so filling and being 6 months post op I still use my potein shakes as meal replacements a few times a week when I am in a rush etc. etc. Take your time.. you will eventually work up to it.

    Oh Dear God, My Hair!

I was terrified of hair loss as well. I am hypothyroid, went thru a period year and years ago when I was trying to get regulated where my hair was falling out in clumps, it looked like I had chemo. Finally after about 5 yrs. and thyroid removal I am now normal. My hair grew back but nothing like it was. It is fine, limp and totally lifeless. I was so scared that I was going to loose the little I have after surgery. I will be 6 months post op on 10/9 and I have not lost any hair - THANK GOD !!! I get 80-90 grams of protein a day, take my biotin every day and pray !!!!! I hear ya... but it will stop at some point and regrow from what I understand. Please, please make sure you are getting your protein it is soooo very important. My docotor could not stress enough that if you do not take your protein you will loose your hair.

    Time For Working Out

I am a early morning person as well. I get the bulk of my workout in before work, after work I walk with my dogs for about 45 minutes for a total of about 1 and a half hour work out. I don't think that there is any one better time than another, I am no expert but I do what works for me and my schedule. Its better than no exercise at all. I think you will stick with something that is easily in your schedule.

    Attention Pre-Oppers

Oh I hear you !!! my taste buds have changed BIG TIME !!! The things I use to love I have no taste for what so ever, but in a way that is a good thing because some of those things were not so good for me so I am OK with it. I think the taste bud thing happens to some of us and some of us not so.

    Is Frozen Yogurt Ok?

Frozen yogurt is loaded with sugar so is sherbert. Try the skinny cow products they taste great and low in fat/sugur and calories.

    Vitamins

I take Vitafusion Multi-vites, the jar says take 2/day I take 3/day. Right after surgery I was having a hard time swallowing all the vitimans and getting a big belly ache. So I switched to all chewable. Now that I am almost 6 months post op as I use up each vitiman I am switching to the non chewables. My B12 is sublingual and I think it is NaturesWay, Iron is TwinLab, calcium I forget what brand and Biotin is TwinLab.

    Food Progression

I think it was cheese, which I practically let it melt in my mouth before I swollowed. I progressed very slowly, I was so afraid of getting sick. My problem was when I did get sick, I was not chewing my food enough... now I chew, chew, chew, chew and chew some more
