    Medical Records....

My surgeon required a letter from my primary doctor, my surgeon even supplied a letter that all my primary had to do was copy it to his letterhead and sign. I too had a problem with the staff, not my doctor so I made a appointment w/my doctor, had a letter on me and just asked him to sign. He took the letter and gave it to his staff that handles all his paperwork and promised he would have it done by that Friday. I was like a stalker - LOL I was calling a couple of times a day until my surgeon had the letter. Its difficult becuase the staff can be very "not nice at time". !!! Good luck and persistance pays off !!!!

    Feeling Lost...

Awww sweetie don't feel lost.... you go thru lots of emotions after surgery. I posted on a earlier topic, I had a affair with food and after surgery I felt a big loss, but it passes. Once I started seeing the good changes my body was going thru and that I was fitting into my smaller clothes again it was like a high. As my exercise increased and I could start to jog/run that even made me feel better. It all takes time... you are only 4 wks post op, I am 6 months post op and have been feeling great for the past couple of months. Your body is going thru some major changes, physically and mentally and you need time to adjust. Please.... continue to take your protein it is esentail to your health right now. And the exercise is a MUST it will make you feel better (endorfins sp?) are like crack to me - LOL Do things that make you feel good/happy.

Can I Cheat Before My Surgery?

LOL... My surgery was on a Monday, I did not have to do any type of diet before surgery. The only thing my docotor wanted me to do was eat light the day before surgery. So on Saturday I ate what ever I wanted to eat !!!! My boyfriend and I went to a resturant I ordered a huge bacon cheese burger, fries etc. etc. and I could hardly eat any of it. I think my mind over matter was kicking in. I did enjoy the meal but it was not as I was expecting !!! I just was totally not into it.

    Surgery In Two Weeks

I felt that way too, I was all over the place and even after surgery for a while. I am 6 months post op and not so much now, everything kind of leveled off now. At least for me I felt a great loss because I had a affair with food and it was pretty much my focus in life. Now that there are so many other good things in life to replace that "food" thing I feel much better.

    Air Climber

Please wait until your doctor clears you for exercise. At my 4 wk check up my doctor cleared me for walking then at my 6 wk. check up he cleared me for anything I wanted to do. But... he said if something caused pain or I felt uncomfortable I was to stop.

    Its Official Im Approved!

Fantastic !!! LOL a few days before surgery I was nervous so I did major cleaning got everything in order. Each dog got a bath I went food shopping for all my supplies and was 110% ready !!! Congrats
  11. Arrrrggg... the endless appointments - I remember them well - LOL I was VERY LUCKY in the fact that I had no involvement with my insurance company what so ever. My surgeon's office handled everything, I just delt with my Dr.s insurance coordintator. I first had to go to a class about WLS, in which they explained all the different procedures, if you were interested when you left the class you could make a consult appt. with the surgeon. Which I did at that time you discuss what type of surgery you want and he tells you what is best for you. Then he makes a list based on your age, health, etc. on what "extra" tests you needed done. Since I am 53 and never had a colonoscopy he required that along with the endoscopy. He also had me go for a sleep study which I wore a monitor on my head at home for two nights and of course 1 nutrition class, 1 physc. eval, and 1 nutrition appt. with a nutritionist. At the consult is where we set my surgery date which they gave me 2 months to get all my appt. done, at first I did not think I was gong to make it but I did and the last two weeks before surgery I could sit back and relax with no dr. appts. I never once had to speak to the insurance company. Once I got all my tests done that they needed for insurance submission, it was a requirement from my surgeon to have my primary doctor write a letter stating why I needed surgery. The surgeons office provided a draft of the letter because they know what the insurance companies want to hear so all my primary had to do was copy it to his letter head and add info. if he wanted. I sailed thru the approval process, they submitted on a Friday and I had approval on Wed. morning. I did not have to do any diets or anything. Its ALOT of running and appointments but you get thru it, now I am 6 months post op and feeling fantastic !!! Best decision I ever made !!!! Hang in there... it is all worth it !!! Plus you really get a good physical during the process so you know that you are in pretty good health too !!!!

    H Pylori

H Pylori is a stomach infection (bacteria in stomach) lots of people have it and don't even know it. As soon as you start your antibiotics start eating yogurt right away that will prevent the yeast infection.

    Itching?

It could be two things, when your incisions are healing you get itchie, I know mine sure did. And my skin is very sensitive where sometimes I breakout and itch from the glue on bandages, not all the time but some brands are worse than others for me. You may be irriated from the glue. Can you change your bandages? or call your doctor and ask if you can change them???
  21. Awwww.... how nice. I walk/jog with my dogs on a daily basis (weather permitting). They are the best company, I have two dog and I walk each one seperate so I get double the work out in AND some one on one time with each dog Keep up the good work. BTW how did you make out with your letters ?

10 Days Post Op...how Much Are You Walking?

Everyone is different....sounds like you are doing great. Just do what your body can handle and don't push it because that is when you get injuries. I would increase distance once a week by 1/2 mile. A good speed to get your heart rate up is like a 12 minute mile and that takes time to work up to that.

    Vegas & Alcohol

You will be fine.... I had wine about 8 wks post op and have wine a few times a week. I have not ventured to any other alcohol yet. Just be careful with your first drink, maybe try something at home first to see how you handle it.
  24. If you have any concerns or questions ... post them here, this is a support group where you get great information from people and support. The whole surgery expierence is a bit different for everyone, some of us had no problems and some did. My best advise is to listen to your surgeon and do exactly as they say and you will be fine. It is the best thing I ever did and would do it again in a second. We all had our bumps in the road but still worth it !!! Good luck and don't be afriad to ask questions !!!
