I love to jog and take my dogs for really long walks, I love music so I crank up my MP3 player put my ear buds in and go....... but Iove to jog and I also love to exercise my hi energy dogs as well so its a win-win situation. As I alwasys say... find a exercise you like and then it will not feel like you HAVE to exercise.. you will actually look forward to it. I am a total morning person so I am best at getting up early and working out even before I start my day then I'm done anything else after my a.m. workout is extra like walking the doggies after work which is bonus. You may want to try the Wii... I have some great workouts on the Wii Fit that really get your heart pumping and they are fun too !!! I was at a stall on losing the weight for a month and a half.. I was 216 at surgery and had only lost 40 lbs... I started freaking so I started jogging and increased my exercise time and intensity and I lost another 3 lbs. So now I am out of my slump and starting to loose again. Try different esercises or do a bunch of different things so you don't get board. Eating properly and exercise are the two major things that make this surgery a success. So get out there and start sweating !!!!

Prior to surgery I smoked so that was one of my coping technique along with food. Now when I have stress I work out and boy does that relieve stress. I either run like the wind on my treadmill or take my dogs for a really long walk which I love doing anyway. Also yoga is amazing for relaxing !!!! I channeled my bad behaviors into good behaviors.

I would call your doctor... that is what you are paying him the big bucks for !!!! I am 6 months post op and had all kinds of strange feelings while I was healing. Don't ever be afraid to call your doctor, is better to be safe than sorry.

Getting My Business Done.

Congrats on your decision -
Good luck on your pre-op diet. Be your own support system and you have us here on RNY good luck.

Do beat yourself up over it... its not worth it. If I indulge a bit and feel guilty I will work out a half hour longer or run that extra mile to burn it off this helps you clear your mind and get back on track. We are all far from perfect and will mess up from time to time !!!

I don't want to influence you in any way shape or form but I smoked until the day before surgery. I smoked a pack a day and my last smoke was on a Sunday evening about 10pm and my surgery was Monday @ 7 am. There was no way I could stop before surgery, I was too nervous. I do have to say that being under anesthesia and being a smoker is so much more risky!!! But I took that chance

What Do You Miss Doing?
BBdoodle replied to worm2872's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love to buy clothes and when I was average weight it was so nice to just walk in a store pick a size 8 pants and not even have to try them on and know they will fit. I can't wait until I'm there again !! There is two things that I miss a tiny, tiny bit from pre-op days that I hate to admit .... I miss my diet lime pepsi and a smoke !! The trade off is much better, I can now run again and I am so much more healither . -
I'm glad you are doing well. The thought of food when I was in the hospital made me want to gag !!! I did like the ice pops though. The pain was more like sorness and uncomfortable rather than pain. As Vicki said above.... sip, sip, sip, walk, walk, walk and rest, rest, rest. The more I walked the better I felt. Keep up posted

Caffeine & Carbonation?
BBdoodle replied to tstevens28's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was a diet pepsi lime addict before surgery, the only thing I drank was carboniated diet soda. After surgery it was not that hard to give it but. Not that I did not miss it because I do. I drink caffinated lipton tea packets you put in your water. I'm 6 months post op, I have had some soda but only sips here and there. I'm not missing much.. they now taste very chemically. I hate drinking plain water. -
2 Weeks And -#20 Down!

Great job.....I too had a very fast and smooth recovery.. keep up the good work ! -
I told my boss, and a few close friends at work. When people comment about my weight loss and say wow you look good or are you losing weight and how... I say diet and exercise. Its no lie because I am watching what I eat and I do exercise like hell every day. I feel its VERY personal what your medical choices are and its no one's business unless you make them your business. I got 110% support from my co-workers and they are such great cheerleaders too But then again I work with a fantastic group of people.

Boy This Is Exciting!
BBdoodle replied to RhondaWilliams's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow... nice job -
I too was very successful at dieting but them would fall off track and gain it all back again. I would of had surgery years ago but I did not know insurance covered it in most cases. You first major step was to realize you need help, once you admit that it is cake after that !!! This surgery is a tool to help you help yourself. You work WITH the surgery and follow your doctor's insructions and ther is no way you will not be a success. It takes time, dedication and sensible eating habits and most importantly exercise. good luck on your journey !!

I have the poops all the time but I had my gall bladder removed 10 wks after my RNY. I am even on anti-poops meds and they work sometimes. My surgeon says that sometimes you become lactate intolerant after surgery I am trying different combos of foods to see what is giving me the problem.

feeling full is a good thing. Its ok that you had pizza... some slip-ups are normal as long as you do it in moderation. Sometimes I think little slip-ups keep you on track longer... just my opinon. It sounds like you are doing really well with your pre-op diet. Keep up the good work !!! The 30th is just around the corner !!!

Need Info About Post Op Life
BBdoodle replied to makemyownluck's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
With the RNY you will loss the most weight. If you follow what your surgeon's instructions on food, vitimans, liquids, etc. you will have no problems with absorbtion. I take a multi vitiman, iron, B-12, calcium and biotin. The calcium is citrate .. it is absorbed faster into your system. I am 6 months post op and feel fantastic. And yes some people are able to indulge, I can have a bit of a cookie or a very small piece of something fried. I fill up really quick so I would rather fill up on good protein than anything else. By a few months out you will be able to eat regular food but it is the choice YOU make that make this surgery a success or not !!! -
Wooohooo.... great job !! My scale moved.. FINALLY... after about a month and a half stall. I thought my scale was broken or something. I have 30 more to go... but it is going to be be hardest 30 to loose !!! Keep up the good work

My surgeon suggested creamy low calorie soups. They did not say anything about sugars or carbs but was told to watch the fat.

Finally Meeting With My Surgeon!
BBdoodle replied to lizz's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Awesome.... good luck on your weight loss -
sip, sip,sip and sip some more. You may not be able to get in all liquids the first week but you should aim for min. 64 oz. water daily. My surgeon required me to have min. 64 oz. others may differ.
