What Day After Surgery Was Your Worst?
BBdoodle replied to McCormick4062's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Immediately after surgery, I guess the first 24 hours were bad and that was just due to the pain, I had no nausea or anything like that just pain. I walked a lot which helped with the gas too !!! After the first 24 hours each hour after that I got better and better -
I always have a dry mouth even before surgery. When I run or exercise I also chew sugar free gum and that keeps my mouth moist too.

I'm 17 months post op and have eggs, cottage cheese, oatmeal, in the mornings. I'm not a big cereal eater and don't do toast -
cymbalta after surgery
BBdoodle replied to preopmano's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know that you don't absorb as much post op so time released meds are not recommended. I had to increase my thyroid meds after surgery and when taking other OTC or RX meds I stay away from time released. I would go with what your surgeon says. -
AWESOME !

You are so right !!!

I'm 17 months post op and LOVE my cottage cheese and eat it every day. I also have oatmeal and flavor it with cinnamon. I make a breakfast pie with eggs, veggies and bake it in a pie shell. You can get pretty creative with what you add. I will make a breakfast pie on Sunday and it last me all week, I just put a slice in a container and heat it up when I get to work. You don't necessarily have to eat "breakfast" foods for breakfast, I'm the type of person that can eat anything any time of day so don't restrict yourself to "breakfast only" foods for breakfast... eat what you like when you like

You look GREAT ! -
I had cravings but when I would take a taste of what ever I was craving then I did not like it anymore or as long as I tasted it I was OK then. Strange.. but it worked for me.

Where I am in my journey :-) & Youtube Channel
BBdoodle replied to B.J.'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How cool, good luck. I think by doing this will keep you on track as well -
Good question ! From what my surgeon has explained is that the protein shakes are a protein substitute until you can eat regular high protein food. He required 64 grams of protein daily. When I was on liquid and soft foods I was only getting about 10-20 grams of protein daily so I supplemented with protein shakes. Now that I am 18 months post op I get my protein from food but if I don't eat high protein foods on a particular day I will supplement with a protein shake.

OCT. 1, 2013 - The First Day of the Rest of My Life
BBdoodle replied to PLEASEDELETEME's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Good luck on your journey and keep up with the walking.... its benefits you in MANY ways -
Eggs are great, lots of protein. For me.... I was on liquids for like 2-3 weeks, then soft mushy food for 3 wks then on to mushy, wet, soft solids. You can ask your surgeon for the meal plan now.....I am sure they will give it to you. Good luck
-
I would stay away from them since they are a trigger for you to over eat.... look at healthier, less fattening alternatives. This surgery is a tool to help you lose weight the rest depends on what and how much you eat and exercise is key.

I was in the hospital for 2 1/2 days, I did not touch any food and just had a few licks of a ice pop. I did sip, sip, sip, sip, was sore but walking helped so much. You are probably nauseated from the anesthesia which will go away. Maybe ask for something to help with the nausea.

Blueberry Muffin - Minimal Dumping
BBdoodle replied to Kcarr1120's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
There are good carbs you can eat instead of a DD muffin, you also need to be strong and not give into your cravings. The key and success to this surgery is YOU making healthy choices in food, portion sizes and most of all exercise. -
Nervous about my surgery date!

weight loss after 4 months
BBdoodle replied to mijpow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone loses in their own time, you may want to start exercising or change up what you currently. Like if you are walking you might want to try a little jog ... something to get you breathing heavy and sweating. I have hit stalls and when I changed up foods and workouts I started losing again. But key is diet and exercise. -
