I had my last smoke the night before surgery. My surgeon wanted me to quit 2 wks prior to surgery but I knew I could not do it. So I had my last smoke about 8 pm. and said good bye to smoking. I'm 7 months post op and I do miss it at times but I can now run longer distances, and my breathing is no longer labored due to the weight and smoking... I feel much better as a non-smoker !!!

GREAT news... and keep up the good work and set those obtainable goals.... there is no feeling as good as when you put something on and it is too big

Sometimes people do not realize exactly what they say.... don't dwell on it they just don't understand or know any better. Your answer was perfect which will get them thinking ... The nice thing they could of said was "wow you look great" !!

Does Anyone Else Feel Like They'll Never Be "skinny"?
BBdoodle replied to Lebim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think lots of use feel that way and I know I can get there because I was there before so its not a impossibility You are tall so you probably carry it really well. Be happy with what ever weight you settle at because you will know you did what it takes... diet, exercise, and maybe even skin removal surgery. I know I get motivated when I set goals and I have a focus... I get very determined. Just do the best you can possibly do... -

If you are on regular food, be creative in what you eat but get your protein in first. If you want to mix fruit into you shake I don't see a problem with that. There are many times I use my protein shake as a meal because they fill me up so much. Rule of thumb, watch the fats and sugars, if something is low in fat ans surgar and high in protein = go for it.

Before surgery I stocked up on water, ice pops, jello, crystal light and protein. I wore loose sweat pants to the hospital and while in the hospital I was in the hosptial gown until I dressed to come home. Just make sure you wear loose fitting clothes because you don't want anything rubbing against your incision because it will hurt !!

Never Would Have Guessed
BBdoodle replied to melonpie05's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At first I had to take baby sips, and I cannot drink just plain water = yuck so I add crystal light or something to my water to flavor it as long as it is no calories or surgar. I am 7 months post op and can take bigger gulps now. If I go too big of a gulp my pouch does tell me that that was too big - lol. All the gurgling and noises go away after a while... at least mine did. -
You look great.. keeping busy is a good thing !!!

Surgery Today... You Think This Day Will Never Come But It Did.
BBdoodle replied to Vicki Loichinger's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
GOOD LUCK Vicki ..... please keep us posted and don't forget we are here to help you thru anything you may need help with. See you on the other side -
I'm 7 months post op and continue to measure what I eat and constantly get my protein in first. Please be careful and watch those calories.... they add up real quick. Eventhough you can eat more I would not !!! Your breakfast, lunch and dinner should be enough to carry you thru to each meal without snacking and/or getting hungry !!! You may have fallen off track.. please get back on track again ASAP !!!!!

I Wish I Had Known Before Surgery...
BBdoodle replied to mizzlaw's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Very imformative and some of us only have "some" of the things she listed, everyone handles everything differently some more better than others. It was nice to read ! -
Yes, try them first because all the reviews I read the majority said they were horrible. But I ordered anyway, I should have tried one first but the company was good enough to refund the entire case. I just stick to my protein shakes, cottage cheese, yogurt and nuts to get my protein.

What The Heck Happened To Me Just Now!?!?
BBdoodle replied to sunshine413's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sometimes I have bouts of sickness when I eat something that I have eaten before with no problem then all of a sudden I get sick when I eat it - I never heard of being so cold etc. that is strange, I would call your doctor. Everyone is different and your body reacts differently than everyone else when it comes to dumping, etc. But to be on the safe side I would call. I hope you feel better and please let us know what the dr. says, I'm kind of curious -
Regrets And Second Guesses?
BBdoodle replied to theby_88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your affair with food is over sweetie you need to focus on other things. I am 7 months post op and just starting to eat normal now. If I crave something I only have a bite or two, and the key is MODERATION and this surgery is just a tool to help you get on a healty eating habit and to exercise !!! Once the pounds start to melt away and your lookin' real good you say bye-bye to the food because you feel soooooo much better without the extra weight. I think you grieving now but it does pass, you need to focus on exercise and healthy eating, you need to work with the surgery not against it or it will never work. Please don't put yourself thru all this then regain, it would be such a loss. I will take being thin and feeling awsome over food any day !!! -
Totally normal, I had them as well... go take a walk and increase your endorfins that will help
-
I tried the 42g shots and think they are absolutely DISCUSTING !!! It my just be my taste buds but I would rather stick a fork in my eye then drink one of those shots !!! I returned the empty bottles that I drank and they gave me full credit. It tasted like sour/rotten prune juice to me..... yuck !!! Maybe you could just purchase one to see how it tastes, I say this because I know everyone has different tastes.

Most of us hit stalls at some point. You are doing fantastic, you cant lose it all right away, you must work at it as well. My stall lasted 2 months, I am 7 months post op. I increased my exercise and that took me out of my slump. You lost lots of weight just in 3 wks. accept that its amazing !!!! It takes time and total dedication, most people loose fast the first month then level off.
