  1. Im 8 months post op and believe me it does get better with each day, I proimise I had surgery on a Monday and was back to work the following monday. I am a big baby when it comes to pain.... I can't handle any pain what so ever. The only thing that lasted a bit longer was the shoulder pain which was from the gas. But once you get moving around and take lots of walks you feel better.

    Protein Drinks

I like the Isopure brand, they have many flavors but my fav. is dutch cholocate. I know you are tired of the standard flavors. You may want to try the Protein bars, be careful because they can be high in sugar/fat. Stay away from the protein shots they are absolutely discusting !!!. OR try the unflavored protein and mix it in soups/food etc. My min. protein requirement that my surgeon wants me to have is 64 grams a day. I know I don't get it from food so I supplement with a Protein shake. I have a hard time with meats too, so I get my protein from yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese, Beans etc.

    Stuck Again

I tried a couple of things to get me out of the slump but the increased exercise was key for me. I heard people that increased their Protein and that got them out of the slump.

    Waiting...

The waiting is what is so difficult, once you get the approval everything happens so quickly. Hang in there

    Nausea And Vomiting

I really did not have much vomiting and/or neausea at all. Not that I did not have any because I did but it was not often. Like someone posted above, follow your eating plan, eat slowly and chew, chew chew, chew your food.

    No Soda

Its carbonated drinks you have to stay away from. I was a diet pepsi freak, that was the only thing I drank. After surgery it was tough to not drink carbonated drinks becaue I really do love the carbon and miss it. Any carbonated drink is really a no-no after RNY, I have a few sips every once in a while but that is about it.

    Why Now!

You should be done with your cold by surgery. Take OTC meds and you will be fine.

    Stuck Again

Im 9 months post op, I had a stall the months of august and september with no weight loss what so ever. I increased my workouts from walking to jogging/running and from 45 minutes to a hour. That got me out of my slump and I started to lose again.

    Questions

I had wine about 3 monts post op. The alcohol does not effect me any different post op. Just remember alochol is a empy calorie and moderation is key. I have a couple of wines during the week, I am 9 months post op and have no problems drinking alcohol what so ever.
  10. From what I understand you lose more weight with RNY surgery than the sleeve and even less with the band. If you choose WLS I would go with the surgery that you will loose the most weight with.

    Craving Attention

You are so close to your goal I am sure you can taste it, you have done a awesome job so far. Start flirting, smile, be approachable, sometimes men are afraid to approach pretty women because they do not want to get turned down.... so send out the signals that you are intrested and approachable.
  12. Oh I hear ya..... Please try and get your fluids and meds in. I found if I took baby sips all day long I was able to get "some" of my fluids in. By 10 days post op I was drinking my 64 oz. of water and 64 grams of protein daily. If you are really having a hard time I would contact your surgeon, you may have stricture. Are you throwing up at all??
  13. You are looking fantastic and keep up the good work

    Not Losing Weight?

Your 19 lbs loss is great Once you get into a routine you will see a steady weekly loss of anywhere from 1 lbs to 3 or 4. It all depends on how much you have to lose... I believe RNY you will lose 70-80% of your weight where the band and sleeve is something like 60% only.
  15. Yes... it can be done. I only told my sister, my 2 BFF's and 3 people in work with one being my boss. Your business is YOUR business.. you don't have to tell anyone!! In my opinion... the less people you tell the better off you are. When people say "wow you lost weight you look good", I say thank you if they ask how am I doing it I say diet and exercise.

    Not Losing Weight?

You body is going thru some major adjustments right now, you can't expect to loose 19 lbs every single week. You will lose higher numbers at first then you will level off. I am almost 9 months post op, there was a period of time from August until October where I did not lose any weight what so ever. I freaked out a bit but then increased my workout time and intensity and in a few weeks I started losing again. In lots of people it will take almost a year to get the weight off it does not happen over night. It is a process that YOU have to work with, surgery, diet, exercise and commitment, surgery alone will not get you there !!!
  17. Oh Vicki I am so sorry to hear you have hit yet another road block Do you have to postpone your RNY then? I guess you have to wait until you see what the gyno says right? Seding hugs and prayers your way. Please keep us posted. Hang in there !!!
  18. Your body is gonig thru some major changes, you are feeling exhausted because you are not getting protein and fluids in your body. I would call your surgeon... I hope you feel better soon .
  19. I also felt great a week out. I had surgery on a Monday and was in work the following Monday.

    Omgomgomg!

Awesome.....I am glad you did not accept the "no" answser and dug deeper. Just because they say NO I want to know why and all the detail. We are all humans and make errors AND the insurance company goofs up more than not - so for all you people that have been declined don't accept it until you fought to the bitter end!!!

    What Would You Do?

If it were me I would go for the RNY,... you need to consult with your surgeon first because if you don't have his/her clearance you will not be able to have surgery. I am lucky where I had no compications what so every and sailed thru recovery and was back to work in 1 week. I am almost 8 months post op and feeling fantastic... best think I ever did !!!!
