Not Prepared-Please help!
BBdoodle replied to ready2smile's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I followed my surgeon's directions exactly... first few weeks, was broth, soup, yogurt, ice pops. I had no issues and was back to work in 1 wk post. op. -
I had yogurt, soup, broth, ice pops....
-
I LOVE spicy foods... I was like 3-4 wks. post op before I started with the hot suace... I was OK with it from that point on. I guess you have to try and see what works for you

5 days pre diet before surgery
BBdoodle replied to OleHippieGal's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
IDK.... we all handle the process differently, if something really seems out of wack I would talk to your doctor. -
You ROCK girl !!!! Woooohooo awesome !!!!
-
Good luck with your journey, I alwasy thought that you had to be like 600 lbs. to be a candidate for RNY.. boy was I wrong. As soon as I found out that I fit into the requirements for surgery I jumpend on the bandwagon and had surgery. It was the best thing I ever did !!!!
-
OK well that is good new that the ol' gall bladder is OK. I know the pain is really bad. I still have that pain and I have no gall bladder, my regular doctor thinks that I need to have a CT scan to find out what is giving me pain. I know the first like 4-5 months after my RNY surgery if I did not chew my food I would get really bad pains, make sure you are chewing your food really, really well.
-
Good luck... I did not have to do any diet before surguery... which I am totally lucky about that. Stick to your plan and you will do fine - GOOD luck
-
I had a 2 month stall... I kept to my diet, exercise and it passed.
-
I work with a bunch of great people, I only told my very close work assoiates and very close family/friends. I had 110% support from all. when people at work say "wow you look great"... I say thank you If they ask how am I doing it... i say "diet and exercise" which is what I am doing. Please don't feel obligated to tell EVERYONE your medical histroy... to me that is personal and YOUR business.. who you chose to tell is up to you but don't feel obligated to tell anyone !!!

I don't see a problem with this but then again I am not a doctor, if you are concerned I would start a healthy eating along with the protein. I would do what ever it takes to lose the 15 lbs. - but then again that is me !!!
-
You may have gallstones. I had a really bad attack right under my boobs across my chest 2 months post op. I called my surgeon, they told me to get a ultrasound which I did and had gallstones... so 10 wks RNY post op I went back in for gallbladder removal Not fun !!! I would talk to your surgeon it may just be something that does not agree with you, gas, gallstones etc. Don't suffer... get it checked out.

You will eventually have one, I think I was like 6 days post op. Just remember you are on liquid so there is not going to be much solids. It took me a while to get regulated.
-
Good Morning !!! I am a very early morning person too. Do weight bearing exercises for the legs and arms. Enjoy your day early bird
-
I did very well too !!! I am almost 9 months post op and knew I could not and would not overeat. I too had a few tastes of certain foods but stuck to what I knew I could eat, stopped when I felt full and totally enjoyed myself This surgery is the best !!!!!
-
I take Centrum-Silver Multi vitiman along with calcium, iron, biotin and B12. I am almost 9 months post op and when I have my blood work do everything is good.
-
LOL.... do you have pets? or like a certain flower, color ? saying? I have two dogs that are my life, I am getting paw prints on the back of my neck to represent them and what wonderful creatures dogs are. Of couse this is my reward when I get to my goal weight
-
I don't count calories either, my stomach tells me when I am full and it gets full really quick. I concentrate on getting my min. 64 grams of protein and 64 oz. of water in daily + my vitimans
-
I did not do well with ham or most meats .... they just don't go down right. Everyone is different, I would try a tiny-tiny bit, chew really, really well and see how it goes. Anytime I got sick on something, I knew right away that it was not going to sit right with me. The ham "may" be too much for you 5 wks out.
-
Are you getting in your water and protein? You are still so new post op.... you have to give your body time to heal, once that happens then you do your thing
-
I would see what your doctor wants you to do... in most cases the doctor has a diet for you to follow.
-
I had surgery 4/9 and in August I stopped losing weight and for 2 months I did not loose. I was totally freaked out, I then increased my intensity of my exercise from walking to running and increased from 45 min. to 1 hr plus and that got me losing again. Not as fast as I would like but I am losing again. Some of us are slow losers !!!
-
Good luck Ol' hippe ... keep us posted !!!

Just Had My 1st Appointment
BBdoodle replied to kristlynngirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My sister originally went in with the idea of getting banded but then received the information on all 3 WLS and wanted the best bang for her buck. I went in knowing I wanted the RNY because the percentage of weight loss is the highest with the RNY. I figured if I was going to do this I'm going for the RNY. I see so many people on this site that have been banded and went for the revision to RNY. You need go with what is best for YOU. -
Happy Birthday and a BIG congrats on your weight loss... I will be 9 months post op on 1/9 and cannot believe it has been 9 months since surgery !!! Keep up the good work and CHEERS! !
