Post opt update! W/PICS
BBdoodle replied to preshiz pink's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You look fantastic... keep up the good work !! -
I am a total big baby when it comes to pain.. i can't handle any pain what so ever. With that being said, the surgery was not bad at all. The first night was rough, I kept on hitting the morphine button After the first 24 hours I only hurt when I had to use my stomach muscles. Sitting up and trying to get out of bed hurt like hell but once I was up I was fine. I was back to work in one week, I worked 1/2 days in the office and 1/2 day at home. My recovery time was pretty quick I think because I was up moving around. 10 weeks after my RNY I had to have my gallbladder removed and that hurt more than the RNY.

How did you respond to critics?
BBdoodle replied to Cecilia's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I only told a few people about my surgery, very close friends and co-workers and close family members. If someone compliments me on my weight loss I say "THANK YOU" if they ask how am I doing it I say "diet and exercise". The people that I did tell about the surgery were 110% supportive of my decision. You really don't owe anyone an explaination on your personal business. My fav. response to people who ask very private questions is... when they ask a uncomfortable question... you answer with "why do you ask" or "why do you want to know" your questions with a question puts them on the spot just like they made you uncomfortable. You keep private what YOU want to keep private. If someone is negavtive with your choices that is their problem not yours. This surgery works for YOU.. thats all that matters. -
So happy... I could cry!
BBdoodle replied to Catgyrl68's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Its such a great feeling when you get complements and when trying on and buying clothes to go down in size is the best. Just don't buy too much becuse you will be out of your size 16 in no time !!! I only wore some pants that I bought like twice and I was in a different size.... keep up the good work -
Just take it slow...a little at a time. You have to figure out what is best for you to have before and after you work out. I run a hour on my treadmill daily, I do this on a empty stomach when I first get up. But after I workout I drink my Protein shake slowly as I'm getting ready for work. I recover from the workout faster when I drink my shake after. But this is what works for me. Try different thinks and if you feel faint I would stop and do something else, you don't want to injure yourslef. Your body is not use to this type of exercise and it may be protesting My body hated the fact that I wanted to jog.... it took me a whole year just to run a mile non-stop. I just eased into the exercise thing.

Do you think it could gas from something you ate? I would call your doctor just to be on the safe side. Is your incision site swollen or red?

I need some SERIOUS advice! Please!
BBdoodle replied to sleevemeup's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You should be fine but if something hurts too much please don't do it. I was back to work in 1 week, I had surgery on a Monday and back to work the following monday. I worked 1/2 day in the office and 1/2 day at home. I think with me getting up and moving around and getting ready for work made me heal faster and get back to normal faster. If something did not feel right I did not do it. Good luck -
Whats was the First thing.....

Is it not the best feeling when you realize that something is too big !!!! Besides all my clothes being bigger I even noticed my shoes were loose !!!! -
It is VERY important to get all you liquids and protein in daily to maintain your health. The protein is a must or you will lose your hair and not get the proper nutrition. I know its hard at first believe me we all have been there. The first week or so its hard but please try because you don't want to be malnurished. To make sure I drank enough fluids I would make (4) 16 oz. bottles of water a day, number them 1, 2, 3 & 4... I would make sure that I drank all 4 by the time i went to bed. I used my 64 gr. protein shake as a meal or snack. Of course it took a long time to drink it but I finished it every day. I sip, sip, sip, sip all day long.

I for sure have had weight loss plateau but a mental plateau I'm not sure what that would be??? maybe I had one and did not know it ??

After my RNY surgery I cannot stomach meat at all and don't even like it. The surgery totally changed my taste buds, I get my protein first from my shakes, then eggs, beans, nuts, cheese etc. But my main source of protein is the shakes. I make fratatas and breakfast pies to keep things interesting and use lots of veggies, eggs, cheese. There are tons of vegetarian cook books that have wonderful receipes.

I'm 10 months post op and I have cottage cheese for breakfast, protein shake for snack, soup for lunch and somthing small for dinner. After surgery I totally do not like meat any more so I will be drinking my protein for ever. I like to each low fat cheeses, veggies, pretzels, nuts, seeds etc. Also you may want to check with your surgeon and se what they suggest you be eating.

Really needing some motivation! :(
BBdoodle replied to erikaloftin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We ALL have set backs, don't beat yourself up over it. Just learn from it and move on, I found if I do crave something I have a very small amount and then that satisfies me and I will not over eat. Just promise yourslef you will not do it again. You may want to exercise for a longer period of time to burn off what you ate. Before surgery if I over ate I would see how many calories I over ate and then I would workout extra to burn off what I ate. For example if I ate something like a burger and it was 600 calories, I would workout for how ever long at running or eleptical to burn the 600... it worked for me. Just don't dwell on it .. know you did wrong and promise yourslef you will not do it again !!! -
Oh hell yeah !!! I had no appetied for like 3 months post op. Once I started jogging and really working out for like an hour a day then I started getting a appetie. Enjoy it while it lasts LOL.

2 1/2 weeks out and gained.
BBdoodle replied to workingmotherofthree's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It could just be fluid retention, I always weigh myself after I go to the bathroom (#1 & #2) and before I eat or drink anything and basically the same time each day. You could just have retention AND not have a bowel movement... Don't freak over it, everyone loses real fast at first then it slows or levels off and then you have the stall, it happens to all of us. Everone is different, I am 10 months post op and only lost 50 lbs, I am 165 and need to be at 140 so I have 25 lbs more to go. I had a total of 75 lbs. to lose and it has been VERY slow. Stick with you diet and exercise and don't get discouraged it does come off but only with help from you thur proper portion contorl and exercise. -
You look GREAT !
-
I did not have to do a pre-op diet so I am not sure if this will set you back ...but... since you did not gain any weight I don't see an issue.

It makes all the difference when you have a great doctor !!! -
I had a glass about 3 months post op, the alochol did not affect me any differently from pre op to post op. You just need portion control and alcohol is empty calories so drink smart !!
-
To avoid hair loss you need to get a minimum of 65 grams of protein daily and take biotin. I also take a high dosage of b-12 but the most important is gettting in the protein !!!! My surgeon was very firm about that, I am 10 months post op and not losing any hair.
-
I loved salads pre-op, be post op... not so much. Lettuce really has no nutritional value and if I am going to eat its going to be protein. I fill up quick so I eat protein FIRST... and there is neve enough room for salad. My taste has changed soooooooo much since surgery.

I was eating the same as "trailblazer57". -
My sister went way below her goal weight where she looks sickly. She spoke to our surgeon and he suggested that she start switching to the regular yogurt non the fat free, and go with the regular and not the light or fat free on foods. She was working out and now has stopped... this has stopped her weight loss but everyone is different.
