Had my surgery march 6!
BBdoodle replied to Shethinksthin's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hang in there... it does get better. Everyone handles surgery differently. I too am a big baby when it comes to pain, I cannot tolerate pain what so ever. I did very well on the post op healing, I did not have staples or sutures I just had the steri-strips to hold the incisions closed. My sister had the staples and she said they were very uncomfortable and they did hurt when they were removed. The only advise I can give you is get up and move around, that will eliminate the very paiful gas and the quicker you get up and back to your routine the quicker you heal. Take your pain meds as directed and move around. Good luck. -
nothing tastes as good as skinny feels

You are soooooo right on that one !!!! -
Sounds like your workout really got your endorfins going and that is exactly what a workout does !!! I feel really energized after a workout, I just bought my new treadmill, it has google maps so I can map out anywhere in the world and go for a run. This also makes me workout longer because I set challenges for myself and goals. I love it

No more protien shakes
BBdoodle replied to celebrate*me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As much as you hate the shakes you MUST drink them it is VERY important to get your protein to sustain life. -
Biotin is a MUST in my surgeons requirements. I take 6,000 micro mg' a day = no shedding.
-
Don't get discouraged.. I had a 2.5 month stall 5 months post op... I freaked... I followed everything exactly, no cheating, plenty of exercise so I increased the distance and intensity and it got me over my hump. You will do fine don't worry it will pass.

Even though you did not dump please do not eat foods that got you to this point in the first place, its not worth it. Just because you ate one and nothing happened believe me the next time you may get sick and it is not fun... I was able to eat something one time and the next I was throwing it up 2 minutes after I ate = not fun Stick to the good healthy stuff

I'm 11 months post op so I can handle the big pills at this point, I take One - a Day multiple. At first I did the gummy ones I think it was vita something... they made me have diahrrea

Cheers Recovery is so much faster when you have all your ducks in a row PRIOR to having surgery. Its best you waited ... good luck -
Day 3 post op- what to eat?
BBdoodle replied to groovykg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your surgeon should have given you some instructions to follow, I did ice pops FF and SF, creamy soups, yogurt, anything very smooth and creamy. I did not do anything too sweet. -

Pre Op Protein Search
BBdoodle replied to Gibbys Goddess's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use the Isopure low carb Dutch Cholocate... not that I like the protein shakes but it is the best tasting. I once bought some other brand of protein powder inthe Vitiman Shoppe and it tasted like bleach... I brought it back and they gave me store credit. I tried lots of different brands but come back to Isopure....but that is just my taste. Stay away from the protein shots they are discusting !!!!! -
Don't cheat... you got this far, its not worth it. Stay focused and don't focus on what other people are doing focus on yourself !!!!
-
I would try a different protein if this does not sit right with you. I use Isopure zero carb Dutch Cholocate, I have tried others but always come back to Isopure, its not that I like the protein shakes but it is the best that I have tried. Sometimes your body needs to adjust to new things as well. Right after surgery I was taking my multivitiman in a gummy bear type and every single day I was in the bathroom with serious intestinal problems. If I had meetings or was not going to be by a bathroom I would not eat etc. it was causing me such stress. I even went to the dr. to find out what was wrong, then I started the process of elimination and found out it was the gummy vitimans that was causing my problem so I switched. Ask your surgeon if there is another protein they could recommend, don't suffer there are plenty out there that you can find that agrees with you.

It's for real this time...for myself, for my kids, for my life
BBdoodle replied to aprilstar82's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
This surgery is the best thing I ever did !!! I had always been normal weight until my early 20's and then developed thyroid issues where I had my thryroid removed. Ever since then my weight went up then went down, the went up then went down... the yo-yo weight gain/loss is not good for your body so last year my sis had the surgery and I saw how wonderful she did so I made my appt. and had my sugery this past April 2012. I will be one year out soon and have never felt better. I would do this again in a second !!!! Stay positive, follow your doctors orders and you will do fine !!! Good Luck !!! -
Ive made the right choice!

info meeting changed my choice
BBdoodle replied to dirich's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My sister originally was going for the band but then after the meeting she switched to the RNY. You get better results and lose more weight with the RNY. I knew that I was going to get the RNY because I wanted the best bang for my buck !!! -
My stall turnef into 5 lbs gained ????
BBdoodle replied to joanna's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a 2 1/2 month stall, I did not gain but I did not lose either. It has passed, just stay focused, continue your exercise and maybe change up your food. I started exercising longer and with more intensity and that got me out of my stall. Weight can vary during the day.... I weigh myself in the morning after I worked out, and after I went #1 and #2, I think you can get the best reading at that point Stay focused it will pass and you will lose again !!! -
Dumping Syndrome from drinking too quickly?
BBdoodle replied to Sjane's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had this with certain foods but not with liquids. I knew the second I swallowed that something was not right and I was running to the bathroom. I know how difficult it is to get all the fluids in but just sip slowly all day & night. My surgeon required that I only get 64 oz. of fluids daily. But you need to do what your surgeon is telling you to do. LOL... you made me laugh that is was still cold coming out !!!! -
OMG... .I wish I knew more about the gallbladder before I had my RNY because 10 wks after I had my RNY I was under the knife having my gall bladder removed !! I was just starting to feel 100%, I started running again etc. and them BAM !!! I had a really bad attack one morning where I did not know whether I was having a heart attack or a GB attack, I called my surgeon and they told me to get a ultrasound ASAP. My GB was loaded with stones !!! The only thing my surgeon warned about the GB was to start taking certain meds to avoid stones because of the decreased fat content. I really wish I knew about the GB because I would of had a ultrasound done PRIOR to surgery and have everything done all at once. Sugeons should really check before I am 10 months post op and I still have gall bladder attacks eventhought mine was removed. I had a CAT scan and they said everything was ok and that there were no blockages in any of the remaining ducts. Hopefully you will not have another attack before surgery. I had to wait 3 wks until I could have surgery and thank God I did not have any more attacks. Good luck and I hope you hold out until surgery !!!

Everyone handles RNY differently.. some people have tons of pain and some not. Don't get too freaked out about the pain, the doctor and nurses are there to help you deal with it. You heal faster when you body is not in pain so believe me they want to keep you pain free and up and moving around ASAP !!!

Will I need help after surgery?
BBdoodle replied to sb5366's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I live alone with 2 large dogs, my BF picked me up from the hospital and stayed over that night. He left for work the following morning and I was fine with taking care of the doggies and myself. Its just nice to have someone there when you first get home. -
