    Wondering if its possible

You can absolutely do it !! You need to be 100% committed to be succesful. Surery is only a tool to help you acomplish your weight loss. Surgery combined with right food choices, and portion control and exercise are key to success.

    Teacher stress

My insurance did not require any pre surgery diet. I was back to work in one week, I was lucky to have no complications.

    I am so lost

I would get back on track by first looking at what you are eating and start by eliminating all the fattening things. Once you are healed from your ACL surgery I would start walking or do some sort of exercise, maybe have your ortho. dr. suggest something. The key is diet and exercise.

Update on me & my life

You are doing so well, I had surgery 4/9/12 my weight loss has been too slow for me but I am sticking with the plan and keeping my fingers crossed. I wish you the best for your surgery....
  5. With the bypass you will loss more weight than the sleeve or band. I wanted the procedure that was going to give me the best results and that was the bypass.
  6. Everyone is different on what they can handle, I would just sip, sip, sip and don't put any time limits on how quick you can drink something. When I was right out of surgery I would fill 4 bottles of water, I would number them 1 thur 4 and I just made sure buy the time I went to sleep all 4 bottles were empty. That was my 68 oz. of water daily, I would just take small baby sips all day long.

    Pain at night

If you don't need your pain meds during the day I would not take them but I sure as heck would at night even start a couple of hours before you go to bed. The thing with pain is that once you get past a certain point you cannot control is no matter how much meds you take. The point is to not let your pain get so out of control. When you first start to feel uncomfortable I would take something then repeat.

    Yay! Soft food stage!

I hear ya.... my cup of broth was like drinking liquid gold
  9. Sounds like you are doing fantastic... I too had a wonderful recovery period, and was back to work in 1 week. I had no stapes or sutures and the steri-strips were a blessing to have because there is very minimal scaring. I am a year out and feeling wonderful. I too went thru some periods of feeling down. I attribute it to your affair with food is over and we are mourning the loss of the "affair". At least that is the way I felt, my day was focused on food and after surgery you focus on getting your protein, vitimans and water in. Your body is going thru a MAJOR adjustment and it take a couple of months for everything to adjust, once that happens you are going to love the new and ever changing you. The mood swigns will go away too. Keep up the great work.

    Little weight loss

John.... this is VERY interesting.... I am one year out. My start weight was 216 and I am 163 now so a total of 53 lbs is not my idea of RNY. I have to fight for every pound now. I exercise constantly, eat the right foods but it just does not come off. I have my follow up appt. and I am going to ask about this. Is your insurance covering the cost?

The smell of pizza 9 days post

Pizza is my fav. I am 1 yr post op and can eat one slice now but it has to be thin crust, no meat and either plain or with a veggie. I was able to eat pizza about 6 months post op. Before sureger I could eat 4 slices with no problem, now I can barely get one slice in and that is not eating the outer curst too.

    ulcers?

My sister was just diagnosed with a ulcer, hers started slowly..she is 2 yrs post op. there were times when she would eat and as she stated the food would "grind" on her stomach and she would have to spit it up. Now every time she eats she has to spit it up. she had a scope and she has stricture and a ulcer. Her pain is only when she eats something. I would call your surgeon ASAP.
  14. Good luck and a speedy recovery

    Slow weight loss?

I'm a slow loser too I'm 1 yr. post op. started at 216 and I am 163 now. My goal is 140 and it seems like I will never make it. I stick to my surgeon's diet plan, exercise like crazy, jog, walk, run, incline 7 days a week for 1+hours. I also have thyroid issues, I had m thyroid removed 20 years ago and on hormone replacement. I don't know whether that has anything to do with it. I'm a bit frustrated at this point but I cannot eat nearly as much as I did pre-op though.

    why eat junk

I am 1 yr post op. and also love pizza. I can finally eat pizza but I limit myself to 1 slice, BTW that is all I can eat anyway. In the past I would get the meat lovers or pepperoni pizza, now I just get plain or w/veggies. I cut out as much fat calories as I could. I think anything is OK in MODERATION !!!

You look like you've gained weight

You look fantastic and keep up the great work. Stick to your eating plan, exercise and you will do fine. I have at time gained a few lbs but then took them off immediately. I also have had stalls...but I always stuck with the plan !!!

    Getting all the protein

What about protein shakes? Since surgery I really don't like meat anymore so I supplement with the protein shakes.

    Honeymoon Stage?!?!?!?!?

It all takes time...stick with your exercise maybe even increase and watch what you eat. Make sure your heart rate is in the fat burning zone when you work out, I use a heart rate monitor which helps me keep in the zone, its very important. Losing 2-3 lbs. a week is great. You don't want to lose it too quick.

Need tips on breaking a stall.

Ugghhhh I hate stalls I was in a 3 month stall 5 months post op. What I did to get out of it .... I increased my exercise from walking 45 minutes a day to jogging 1 hour 7 day a week. I also set goals that I had to reach by certain dates etc. That got me a bit more focused.
  21. You made me laugh thanks
