I Ate 2400 Calories
BBdoodle replied to Curvy4lyfe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Surgery is just a tool to help you lose weight, YOU need to make the right food choices, exercise, follow your surgeon's food plan and drink plenty of Water. Surgery alone will not work which its seems like that is what you are thinking. Please go back and see your nutritionist they can put you back on the right track. I can tell you the #1 thing to stay away from is fast food and processed food. If you ate the proper Protein, veggies, etc. you would feel full until your next meal. I'm not saying that we all don't cheat or have a treat every once in a while because we do. When I have something a bit fattening or sweet I workout a 1/2 hour longer and burn off those extra calories. Please go see your nutritionist...they will put you back on track - Good luck ! -
Week 4 and no weight loss for 10 days now!
BBdoodle replied to lynetta's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hang in there... the weight will drop just give your body time to rest and heal first. You did not put the weight on in a day so your are not going to take it off in a day. Sounds like you are totally doing everything right, just stick to your plan and believe me one day you will jump on the scale and it will be down like 10 lbs. I'm 22 months post op, and a very slow loser. I would not lose for a few weeks then BAM I would have a significant drop. Keep up the good work you will see results - I promise -
Dumping Syndrome or Gall Bladder attack?
BBdoodle replied to esskay77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It does not sound like either one IMO. I have had both, my gallbladder removed 6 wks RNY post op. The GB attack is sharp stabbing pain right under your boobs (at least that was where my pain was). I would call your surgeon and describe your symptoms and let them make the judgement call. Its better to be safe than sorry. Good Luck ! -
I'm 22 months post op and in October I had fainting spells, I was home and just kept on passing out. I would get a very intense wave of nausea and then lights out. I went to the ER and had all kinds of tests done and they could not come up with anything. They said either my BP was VERY low or VERY high. My doctor put me on a low dose of BP meds and I seem to be fine now. Please be careful, its a scary feeling. If you start to feel faint just sit down, even if its on the floor right where you are standing its better to sit then fall!!!

BBdoodle replied to SnowDaisy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My taste buds totally changed !!! I never was a sweet tooth person, I was more the chip type of girl. Now if I never had another chip I would be fine but I want sweets !! The fat free sugar free ice pops satisfy my sweet tooth. -
Waiting on Insurance Approval!
BBdoodle replied to musiclady2014's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The decision to have surgery was the BEST decision I ever made !!! The most stressful part of the whole process was the waiting for insurance approval. Good luck !!! -
I would call back and INSIST on a earlier appointment. You were doing them a favor by filling a opening now that there is snow they put your appointment even further back - call them back and insist !!! This is not a good way to threat your clients !!!!
-
I lived on yogurt, low calorie creamy soups, fat free, sugar free ice pops and protein shakes.
-
I always get more hungry when I workout - its a natural reaction that your body is going through. When workout and get hungry I usually reach for a Protein shake and that helps with the hunger pains. If you need to snack have something healthy !

Nice...............

Are you eating all protein ?
BBdoodle replied to copmom's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I eat 1/2 cup cottage cheese for Breakfast, then at 10 - 10:30 a.m. I have a Protein shake a few time a week. lunch is a can of Soup and dinner is fish or something low calorie. Since you are a year post op you probably will slow down with the weight loss numbers. I would increase your exercise now or change things up a bit. -
December 2013 Need some help
BBdoodle replied to caitiegirly07's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
LOL... I cannot do meat very well either and I just don't have the taste for it anymore either !! The only beef I eat is corned beef - go figure. I could live on eggs and veggies totally. -
Sometimes my mouth burns, check your tongue it may be oral thrush. I would call your surgeon for sure !!!! Something is not right.

getting discouraged
BBdoodle replied to kristenleigh435's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I understand your frustration totally. You have lost a amazing amount of weight and congrats !!! Please stick to you plan, we all have stalls. The key to success of this surgery is based on YOU, your diet and your exercise. All must work in conjunction. You body is adjusting and now you need to step things up a bit. What worked for me is changing up my exercise and increasing my hear rate and duration of my work outs. -
Has anyone had Gastric by-pass after thyroid surgery
BBdoodle replied to rinny11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have Graves' disease and had surgery about 20 years ago. Once I developed thyroid problems my weight became an issue. I had RNY surgery almost 2 yrs ago and it was the best thing I ever did !!!!! I am on Armour Thyroid, I tried all the other meds but they just did not work well for me. I had to increase my meds after surgery I think due to the surgery and not being able to absorb all nutrients. My hair, nails and skin have been crap since I developed thyroid issues and I am VERY diligent about taking my Biotin even before RNY surgery. -
why so much protein?
BBdoodle replied to loving.life's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm almost 2 yrs post op and I still drink a Protein shake after I run. I try to get 40-60 grams of protein daily. My surgeon said the Protein shakes were to hold you over until you can eat real food and the best protein to get is from lean meats and fish. Shakes are only a substitute until you can eat real food. -
Wow... that is a lot of Protein for one day. My surgeon required me to get 64 grams of protein daily.
-
I would call back the doctor and explain your situation and "INSIST" on a appt. within your time frame. You may have to wait a while in the waiting room but it will be worth it. Many physicians keep time open for emergencies etc. so I would be VERY persistent !!!!
-
Your body has adjusted to your current food intake and exercise. You have to step up the exercise, that is how I break out of stalls. I also change up my food too. I hate stalls !!!!
-
I'm almost 2 yrs post op and started having cravings about 4-5 months post op. The good thing is after surgery I would just need a tiny bite of what ever I was craving and I would be satisfied
-
LOL.... I hear ya !!!!
-
You have every right to be scared !!! You are having major surgery and most of us felt that way. After surgery your emotions are all over the place! After your body starts adjusting and all the dust settles is a piece of cake !! I think you are mourning your loss of food, kind of like the love affair is over !! You have a new, healthy you to look forward to !!!! Look at the positive things this surgery will do for you !!!!

2 days out and soooo thirsty
BBdoodle replied to sherri428's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My taste buds changed BIT TIME !!! What I use to love I now hate and what I hated I now love - go figure. Please keep hydrated you feel so much better when you have fluids. Sip, sip, sip, sip all day long -
I would check with your surgeon. I know I had many restrictions when I first had surgery. Better to be safe than sorry.
-
I was allowed to sip Water, I was told to sip, sip, sip to keep hydrated. You might want to bring Chap Stick that helps.
