    Scared to really start exercising

I got clearance to do anything I wanted after four weeks. I was a real quick healer, I had no sutures or staples, just Stri-strips. I would ease into the workout at first..just to get your body use to the exercise. I would do a little at a time then work up to a full work out. If something hurts or does not feel right then I would stop and wait. You don't want to push it, your body needs a long time to heal... you got the rest of your life to workout, rest and heal first and just take your time, its better to ease into something rather than jump right in because there is a bigger chance of injury.
  2. It cold just be gas or just the healing process. I would call you surgeon just to be safe, that is what you are paying him for. As far as pain meds go you should take them as directed. I learned from pain management doctors that if you let your pain level get to a 7, 8, 9 or 10 on a 1 to 10 scale then the pain is uncontrollable, if you "control" the pain with meds as perscribed then the pain is controllable even if you are instructed to double up or take more often. When you are in constant pain your body takes longer to heal than someone who is not resting and or not taking pain meds.

    The dreaded stall :(

Your calories sound OK I think you really need to exercise daily and get the heart rate up. I'm a very slow loser and what increased weight loss was exercise !!!

    My last sip of soda

An after thought..... my tastes changed BIG TIME after surgery !!! I no loner can tolerate meat and I use to love a nice big fat delmonico steak, etc. or a nice juicy burger... after surgery I have no taste for meat what so ever. The only thing I like somewhat is corned beef and then its only a small thin slice. I now live on veggies, eggs, cheese, nuts, grains and a bit of fish. When I do have a small soda it tastes funny at first I guess because I am so use to my Lipton tea drink now. A glass of soda once a week is all that I can handle and I am totally fine with that... big change from 6-8 cans a day !!!

    C25k

I have been a runner for many years thru being thin to being overweight/obese and still ran. It took me about 6 mmonths to run a mile without stopping. I would walk 5 miles/day once my body got use to the walking I had to challenge it more so I started jogging. I could only jog a 10-20 steps at a time, then I increased a bit more each time and really pushed myself. I constantly set goals and reached them. I LOVE running and my next goal is to run a 10 minute mile once I reach that my next goal is to run a 9 minute mile. My advise is start out slow and steady, you don't want to push too hard then you will end up with a injury, take baby steps and good luck

    My last sip of soda

I'm a 13 months post op and I was a diet pepsi addict, that was the only thing I drank... no coffee, no tea... just DP. It was difficult at first but I got use to it. The first time I took a sip of soda was about 5 months post op and it tasted like all chemicals = yuck. Now I can have a bit of soda every now and then and I don't miss it at all.

    At Home

Glad to hear you made it thru the surgery and now the hard work begins but if you stick to the plan, rest, heal, exercise when cleared you will do fine.
  11. If you feel something is really not right or the pain is totally unbearable I would contact your surgeon. There are lots of things that can go wrong and the first week after surgery is tough for lots of people and some people sail right thru the recovery process. I would ask for stronger pain meds.

    Gastric sleeve?

I chose RNY because you lose the most weight with this surgery. If I was going thru all this surgery, screening, etc. etc. I was getting the best bang for my buck !!!

    What to eat for energy?

After surgery your #1 priority is to get your protein and water in, you will not want to eat nor will you be hungry B vitamins are a good source for energy also, when I exercise I have tons of energy after a workout. My normal breakfast after surgery when I started on soft foods was cottage cheese, yogurt snack time protein shake. I'm a year out and I make a breakfast pie with the majority of it being eggs, I add cheese, and semi cooked veggies = delish. I take a piece every day for breakfast. I change up the ingriedents but the basic is the same = eggs = protein.

    "The Easy Way Out"

This surgery is just a tool to help us with weight loss, it takes commitment on our part with protion control, exercise and diet then it will work. Surgery is NOT a easy way out by no means !!!!

    Venus freeze skin tightening.

Don't fall for that crap... the only thing that will fix sagging skin or wrinkles is a face lift or some type of surgery. All the claims are just BS. !!!
  18. Good luck and please keep up posted !!!

    Depression

Its all normal sweetie What helps with depression is getting up and walking ... it releases those endorphins and you will feel much better. As I have said in the past...your affair with food is over and you are morning the loss and its completely normal. Go and do something that makes you happy, it will pass. Stay positive because you CAN do it !!!!!

    Stall HELP

I was in a stall 5 months post op and it lasted 3 months without any loss what so ever. I stuck to my eating plan, increased the protein a bit and changed up my exercise from 45 minutes to 1 hour and in increased the intensity big time..... the pounds started coming off again. I did notice that when I was in my stall my size went down but not the number on the scale. My surgeon says stop obsessing of the number on the scale !!! I still weight my self daily because I want to stay on track... I don't freak if it goes up an pound or two because I know I am eating and doing everything right. Hang in there it will move...change up some things to re-restart.
  21. I hope you feel better soon.....

    Incision sites

Mine healed really nice in like 2 weeks. I did not have sutures nor staples, I just had Steri Strips to keep them closed. My surgeon pulled them off 2 wks after surgery.

    Working @ Insurance Co.

Wow... that is unusual They should be basing their decision on the facts and chart ONLY not because they know you. If you make criteria you should not have a problem. Good Luck !
