There are so many things that changed and one thing is my taste buds !!!! If you don't like something at first revisit is down the road. There were things I did not like right after surgery but months later I tolerated them better. So don't write something off so quick !!! If some food makes you feel yukky then stay away for now. Its a big transition from liquid to soft foods, and you fill up real quick but that will change.

LOL..... I'm sure you are so happy you are cleared = CHEERS !

so this was weird...

Very scary..... I get cramps in my legs and feet when my potassium is low. There is the Vitiman drink that has 880 mg of potassium and I try to have one of them like 2x week which helps get that extra boost of potassium -
On a neverending stall
BBdoodle replied to gaflalo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hear ya !!! My longest stall was 3 months, I changed up my exercise, increased distance and intensity and re-looked at what I was eating. It happens to all of us Please hang in there and follow your plan and it will come off. -
Hey Whats for Breakfast
BBdoodle replied to OleHippieGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is DELISH !!! I mix it up each week, I make one with peppers and onions, another variation is mushrooms and saute' cabbage, I love zucchini so I slice zucchini paper thin, saute a bit with olive oil and garlic. You can get very creative with this. Its quick because I buy the frozen pre-made pie shells, bake them a bit and use about 6-8 eggs and veggies. I don't do meat real well and have no taste for it anymore since surgery but you can put low fat ham or sausage.... really anything you want -
How do I respond?!?!
BBdoodle replied to sunshine413's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am pretty private person and when people ask or say "wow you look good, you lost weight" I say THANKS !!!! and thats it !!! and start talking about something else. If they ask "how" I say diet and exercise !!! My medical history is no ones business unless its my close family/friends. Please do not feel obligated to tell everyone who asks your business unless you want to tell them. Just say "thanks for the complilment" and if they ask how "diet and exercise". And that is the truth... aren't we all dieting and exercising??? I know I am Don't let people pressure you !!! -
My sister has a ulcer and she is 2 yrs post op. Then the ulcer caused a stricture.... she is in real bad shape, she can't keep anything down and the dr. needs to heal the ulcer before he takes care of the stricture. She goes on Monday to get scoped and hopefully the ulcer is gone and she can get the stricture cleared up. She is skin and bones !!!! And cannot keep anything down. The dr. has her on two meds one is the liquid that she has to take before meals and some other pill but I'm not sure what. I know exactly what you are going thru.... my poor sister has been suffering a few months with this now. GOOD LUCK !

Those few minutes before you go in are VERY scary !!! But in a really short time the doctor will be putting you into dream land

Hey Whats for Breakfast
BBdoodle replied to OleHippieGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm one year out and I have a breakfast egg pie (1 slice) that has lots of veggies, eggs and cheese. I bake this all in a pie shell and have it all week for breakfast, I just cut off a 1/8 piece and then have a 1/2 cup of cottage cheese. My breakfast is very protein based. If I don't make a breakfast pie I will have about a cup of cottage cheese and maybe a hard boiled egg. -
is it normal to have second thoughts!
BBdoodle replied to Veritas02138's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I never had any doubt, I knew I wanted this and my goal was to get this done and be healthy. Some people change and get more confident because they are thinner and that is a good thing, some people change for the good and some for the bad. You just need to be true to yourself !!! I have not changed what so ever ( I think) I know I am healthier and I feel fantastic !!! This is a tool just like a treadmill or eliptical or weight machine, to help you lose weight. It all depends on YOU and YOUR choices after surgery whether you make it a success or not. -

Ordered some clothes for hospital
BBdoodle replied to Crkrjax76's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was in the hospital gown the whole time = no bra, no panties. You are not going to want to wear panties or anything that is restricting around your stomach. I was home for a week and just wore VERY lose sweat pants and no underware, my incisions were VERY sensitive, I had no staples or sutures just steri-strip to keep them closed. I wore home what I wore into the hospital, loose sweat pants and a lose top. You will not need anything else. -
Don't freak out over it... as said above... it was one day. When I fall off the wagon I see how many calories I over ate then I go on the treadmill and run/workout until I bun it off, of course that is on top of my regular workout. I kind of made that deal with myself. Move on and learn from your lessons !!! You can have those things but portion control is key with exercise.

WOW !

Keep up the great work, exercise, portion control is key to success

Getting Closer to the Big Dance!

Once you jump thru all the hoops and get your clearance its smooth sailing from there.. all you have to do is wait for your surgery. Good Luck -
Did anyone have lower stomach pain?
BBdoodle replied to The long walk home's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 13 months post op and still have strange feelings. It's most likely gas but I would call your surgeon to be on the safe side. -
I exercise in the morning as well... it starts my day off on the right foot. Consider a treadmill as well so you don't miss a workout when the weather is bad or too hot.

still not eating much
BBdoodle replied to deaddemmama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It does change... it take a while but you will get hungry and you will eat. As Mami said above enjoy it while it lasts -
I would be staying away from KFC for sure !!! That is only setting yourself up for failure. There are tons of great healthy foods you can prepare in short time without going to KFC !!!! Pick a healthy food you like an build off of that. Example... I love portabello mushrooms I stuff them with spinach, cheese, bread crumbs and bake = yummie. I go on like and find all kinds of quick receipes.
-
Take those pain meds and if they don't work ask for something that does... there is no reason why anyone should be in pain.
-
started soft foods and gained 2 lbs...anyone?
BBdoodle replied to cbelhaj's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sometimes you take one step (pound) forward and then two steps (pounds) back. Don't worry you will be fine just stick to your diet and exercise. -
Home from hospital
BBdoodle replied to Jacqueline K's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow... I was in for 3 days !! I'm glad you are home WITHOUT a drain. They took mine out before I left the hospital. Rest and make sure you take all your pain meds and walk, walk, walk, sip, sip, sip. Feel better
