Everyone's heal time is different and/or complications. I had no problems and was cleared to do any exercise I wanted 3 wks post op.
-
I would ask you surgeon..... please post when you find out, I'm curious what the answer is

I was on puree at 3 weeks, you can probably do soup. I had a business lunch about 5 weeks post op and I had a omlet

Yes I was on meds to prevent stones but my stones were there before RNY surgery since I had so many on them. I wish I knew that because I would of had him remove it while he was doing the RNY.
-
About 8 wks after RNY surgery I had a real bad gall bladder attack. The pain was across my chest right under my boobs. It lasted about 2 hrs. and felt like a heart attack !!! I called my surgeon, he told me to have a ultrasound and I was loaded with stones. A week later I was back under the knife to have the GB removed ! I was lucky.. the surgeon that did the RNY also did the GB, he used the same incisions.

Loose Skin
BBdoodle replied to Strong Motivated Sista's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry to say but the above posts are 110% correct ... nothing burns loose skin. The only way is to have it surgically removed. You can increase your muscle mass under the skin which will fill in the sagging skin a bit. But once skin has been stretched beyond capacity you will have stretch marks and lose skin and it will never go back. Don't waste your money on all the gimics out there either... nothing but surgery works. -
I had surgery on a Monday morning @ 7:00 am and I was sent home on a Wednesday afternoon... so basically 3 days. I drove the next day after being home and was back to work in one week. My recovery was very fast and bounced back real quick.

BBdoodle replied to elli'smommy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We all got nervous and scared at some point and its all totally normal. Just focus on your weight loss goals and how good you are going to feel and look after surgery and most importantly how healthy you will be !!! Think POSITIVE thoughts !! -

Please stop asking me!
BBdoodle replied to futuremrsparker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a very slow loser, 14 months post op, have 23 more lbs to go and in a stall. My surgeon says I'm good at where I am right now and not to focus on my weight # but to keep eating properly, exercise... I run 5 miles a day, and portion control. I feel fantastic...I'm in a size 12, I would like to be a 8 or 10 but I will be satisfied with a 12 if that is what it is !!! I did not tell a bunch of people I had surgery only a very select few family members and close friends, I had 110% support. When people that don't know I had surgery they compliment me on the weight loss and ask how.. I say diet and exercise!! Someone once told me that when someone asks you a uncomfortable question that you don't want to answer just say "why do you ask"????? They stammer a bit and just change the subject.... it works for me every time !!! Hang in there you are doing fantastic, everyone loses at their own pace !!!! We are all different. -
Good luck on your journey !!!
-
You don't have that "padding" anymore !!! but that's a good thing

Anyone from the New Jersey area?
BBdoodle replied to marymcg62's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hey Mary, my surgeon was in Florham Park but I had surgery in St. Peters in New Brunswick. My weight at surgery was 216 and I am 163 now, my goal is 140... 23 more lbs to go !! I am a VERY slow loser I am a size 12 and want to be a size 8 or I will settle for a 10. I run 5 miles every day and I have never been healthier ! My surgeon said stop focusing so much on my weight # but on how I feel. Congrats on you 104 loss that is amazing, stay focused, and exercise, watch your portion sizes and you will be fine !!! -
Everyone heals differently, some people have complications and some do not. I think a lot of it depends on your surgeon, your prep for surgery and how healthy you are. #1 chose a surgeon that is board certified and has a few hundred surgeries under his belt. Do your research, learn everything you can. You are asking some great questions by the way. Hopefully I can answer some for you. I was back to work in one week, I drove the 4th day after surgery, and was cleared to do any exercise I wanted after 3 weeks. I am 14 months post op and feel fantastic I started at 216 and now I am 163, I have a good 20 to lose but I am happy where I am at right now. I followed my surgeon's orders, I ate what I was suppose to eat, when I was suppose to eat it and had the amount I was suppose to have, no more, no less. I sailed thru the healing process, I had no staples or sutures, just steri-strips to hold the incision closed. I had a full complete blood work done at 6 months and at 1 year. Everything was perfect, I'm 54 and my Mom had osteoperosis (sp) and I too was worried that I would not get enough calcium...but I do. I am sure there are some people that can tell you horror stories as well, but I can only tell you how well I did and what I did to get be well. You found a great group here for support.

Anyone from the New Jersey area?
BBdoodle replied to marymcg62's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hey Mary, I'm from central Jersey, I too sailed thru surgery without a hitch and I am 14 months post op. Who was your surgeon? -
I drove in 5 days

My taste buds changed big time after surgery, I no longer eat beef, chicken, pork, I just don't like it anymore. I live on fish, veggies, cheese.

I have a hard time sleeping too, I take a mixture of things that work best for me. I take 20 mg of chewable melatonin @ 8pm, then at 10 pm I take a dose of Skull Cap (herbal relaxer) or liquid melatonin. I bought the Nyquil zzzquil but that did nothing for me. What ever you get just make sure it is liquid or chewable or sublingual because the pill form of anything seems to not work for me meaning not being absorbed since surgery. Also on the evenings I do about 1/2 hour to 45 minutes of yoga I sleep like a baby !!!
