Just read ur post and was curious who did ur surgery? I live in upstate SC (Liberty) & went to Bariatric Solutions in Greenville, SC. I had RNY 10/10/11 & have had only a few complications. My sister went to a surgeon in Spartanburg & is disabled from seizures as well. She had a PICC line that got infected & they think that affected her brain. You are right, the psychiatric ramifications are a huge part of the surgery. They really don't focus on that as much as they should, which is a shame. Hope things get better for you. I will keep u in my prayers. -Mandy

I've had several people tell me that I didn't need the surgery & proceed to tell of someone they knew that died after having it. I always told them of my friend that did it & had no complications. It was MY decision, yet they feel compelled to tell me why they don't agree with it. Well, ya know what? I'm 21 months out and have lost all of my weight. I love myself & thats all that matters. The same people that told me I was crazy to have it done are the ones telling me me how great I look. There are people even now that will tell me they would never do it & that's ok. That's their choice, not mine. I have no regrets and am loving my life as a smaller me. As far as cheating? You are having your insides totally cut apart and rearranged to reach a goal. It is not an easy road & is a lifestyle that you have to maintain. It's most definitely not cheating! People will always have something to gripe about; you just have to chalk it up to ignorance & hug yourself! Congrats on having this wonderful opportunity, not everyone has a chance to do it!

I agree with the others, no regrets. Would do it all again in a skinny minute ;0)

What's Going On With Me?
Mandy101011 replied to disneydeb14's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
This is all very normal. Don't let it get you too upset because it will happen over and over again. I was so frustrated at first because I would plateau and at times gain a few lbs. Luckily, my niece was 6 months ahead of me and would encourage me because she had been there over and over. When I would plateau my nutritionist would say to up my protein & it would help. I can say that sometimes days hungrier than others & usually lose more on those days. You may plateau for 2-3 weeks then lose 12 lbs in a week. Write your weights down & it will encourage you! -

I did cream of mushroom & loved it. -
Fried rice was a hard lesson learned for me too. I wouldve thought I was having a heart attack, but knew it was RNY related. Terrible pain, never again!

My surgeon gave me pain pills and I did great.

Ate To Fast/much- In Pain!
Mandy101011 replied to tstevens28's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did that one time 1 & 1/2 months out from surgery. If I did not know any better, I would've thought I was having a heart attack. It lasted about 45 minutes and came in waves. I was at the mall and bought Papya Enzyme to help break down the protein, but nothing worked. Finally, I threw up and the pain stopped immediately. I think the food got stuck and the waves of pain was peristalsis. -
My sister had her's in Spartanburg too. She had Dr. Ross.

Anyone else from South Carolina? My doc was Eric Bour.
