Oops, I was tired last night when I posted that. It's actually 39.3 miles, a marathon and a half over two days. I'm in Antioch CA, Bay Area. Sent from my VS920 4G using RNYTalk

Once cleared, I plan on training for next years Avon Breast Cancer Walk in San Francisco. 33.9 miles. I did it in 2009 (while weighing280lbs) and since then have had surgery on both knees and now my RNY. I can't wait to feel the difference when I don't have so much to carry with me. My surgeon said stay away from white foods, white rice, white bread, white sugar, white noodles. I was told if I really want a sandwich, real while grain bread is ok if chewed till mush. Toasting the bread can make it easier on the pouch. I have found a half of a half a piece with a but of reduced fat peanut butter is a great protein boost and sits well. I don't miss the rest of the stuff. Sent from my VS920 4G using RNYTalk

Friday Weigh-In!
Ocean0527 replied to KevinsBabyGirl85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc says I need to shoot for 800 per day. I'm still not quiet there every day, but prior to my discussion with him, I was lucky to hit 150. Now that I can have regular food, it is slowly getting easier. I have found that I love milk again (1%) so that helps when I need protein and calories. I also really try to eat have five small meals per day as he recommended. Eggs, thin cut deli meat, cheese, and reduced fat peanutbutter are all things that I have found sit well with my pouch and provide both protein and calories. Once I started eating, I started loosing. I also downloaded my fitness pal App. On my phone. It helps me watch my calories and my protein. At my one month mark I was down 30lbs. My doctor said to slowly start trying foods, chew till mush before swallowing, and only get on the scale once a week at most. So far, so good. Sent from my VS920 4G using RNYTalk -
Friday Weigh-In!
Ocean0527 replied to KevinsBabyGirl85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also had a period of no weight loss in the beginning. My surgeon discussed this with me and we found I was not consuming anywhere close to enough. My body was in starvation mode. As you are able to add more to your diet, your body will adjust and the weight will come off. Hang in there, you will make it!! Sent from my VS920 4G using RNYTalk -
Could be lots of things, dehydration causes that for me. Also low blood pressure. If it continues you may want to check in with your doc. Sent from my VS920 4G using RNYTalk

My friends had their yearly big bash yesterday. Energy wise I did great, but I was so afraid to eat. I ended up drinking my tea and a ton of Water, and waited till I got home to eat. I wish I could have salad, my doc said not till I am at least six weeks out. Sent from my VS920 4G using RNYTalk

You Arent That Big Expression !
Ocean0527 replied to americas_suiteheart's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been hearing that a lot lately. "You don't look that heavy, you didn't need to have surgery" Looks are deceiving, and I felt that heavy. Not only that, this surgery helped with lots of other issues I was having. I have become a pro of changing the subject at this time. Otherwise I get really annoyed. Every surgeon and nutritionist is different. I was told to avoid any processed sugar, but natural sugar in very small amounts is ok. Sent from my VS920 4G using RNYTalk

My doctor said spices as tolerated. I am ending week 3 now. I have been released to eat real food as long as it is chewed VERY well. No raw veggies yet, but softer stuff. I have had refried Beans, scrambled egg with a tiny bit of shredded cheese and salsa is my favorite Breakfast. One piece of toasted wheat bread no crust, thin sliced turkey and chedder sandwich had also worked well but I can only eat one half at a time. It really is case by case and each surgeon has different recommendations. I take a small bite, then wait about five min before I continue with anything. Best of luck!! Hi Jennw. Saw my surgeon today. Discussed the hungry issue with him. He asked several questions about my diet and we discovered that I am not consuming nearly enough calories. He said I should be at 800 per day and I am barely at 200 at this time. I am now three Weeks out and I can start introducing real foods slowly. He said eat 5 small meals each day and make sure I drink 8 Oz each hour. I'm so excited to have realfood! Sent from my VS920 4G using RNYTalk

Girly Question ......birth Control Choice?
Ocean0527 replied to Erin's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Having it put in is uncomfortable, but am a huge wussy. I cry when I get a paper cut, and I was able to handle it. I had cramps the rest of the day but I was fine the next day. Way less pain than 9 months of pregnancy, 53 hours of labor and a C section for sure. Once it's in, I have not felt it at all. Sent from my VS920 4G using RNYTalk -
Girly Question ......birth Control Choice?
Ocean0527 replied to Erin's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was afraid of the IUD myself. The horror stories out there can be very scary. However, I hated the pill, and the shots made every single person I knew a mad crazy $ch so I decided to try it out. It took about 4 months for my body to completely adjust. During the adjustment my periods got lighter both flow and cramping. Now, I have no period almost ever, maybe a spot here or there. No crazy hormones making me nuts, no forgetting a pill, my guy never knew it was there till I told him, and when I had it changed out in January, it was an easy 20 min appointment. Best thing now is I don't have to worry about my surgery reducing it's effectiveness. I highly recommend it to everyone, many people I know have switched over to it and love it. Hi Jenn. I am 30, and had my surgery 6/5/12. I am also finding myself hungry all the time. My post op appointment is this Wednesday and I am hoping and praying the doctor is going to give me instructions to fix this. I was told I would have to force myself to consume anything and that I would not feel hungry.I was wondering what is wrong with me. Sent from my VS920 4G using RNYTalk
