Today I tried some black bean chips. They were awesome....10 chips had 10 carbs, 4 protein, 140 cals, and 7 fat...a little high on fat for me, but beats corn chips( which I eat way to often)'by a mile....I love salsa and usually eat it with raw veggies, now I have another option.

Has The Band Actually Worked For You?
Emilie1 replied to OldMomOf3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been banded 3 years I don't have a specific goal for how much I want to loose, I was banded to keep from becoming diabetic, having sleep apnea, and high blood pressure. I have lost 80 lbs and gained back 40. I am extremely happy 10+ with my band. It is a tool, you have to use it for it to work. -
Get it checked out....I had the same problem and ended up having a slip...no fun.....I wish my dr. Had told me if you have reflux get it checked right away, I think I could have avoided a slip. Goodluck!

How long did you stay in the hospital after your revision? For my first one I stayed over night, but I was the last one operated on and I had been sick...they said this time I could leave in just a few hours.

Would I Have A Problem Going On A Relaxing Vacation After Surgery?
Emilie1 replied to marketingdude's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you can get out and sight see every hour or so I would say go for it....I had to go out of town the day after my surgery for work...it was not so bad, it helped me from just lying in bed all week, I think it sped up my recovery...watching my friends eat out was the hardest part, but I just made it a challenge...many restraints have broth bases for soup that a very tasty....I realize that I am the exception, most people would disagree....I know my Dr. Would not have been on board if he had known.....I also don't know if I would have called it relaxing..... -
Who banded you? I was banded in San Antonio in October of 2008!!!

Restriction In Morning, Not In Evening?
Emilie1 replied to JennyBee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am going to talk to my dr. About this...I have the same problem, maybe there is a appitite suppressant for the evening...that I can go to sleep with. -
For me the nausea was not so bad...I believe that the lap and is a lifesaver...I had no comorbitiys when I was banded but was very close to having three...all of those disappeared...as for tickers I don't have a clue...good luck and keep us updated!

Someone replie here a while a back about spewing from the top of band and from the stomach....this is what I would like to say, mty banded slipped, I ate bread, got stuck brought ir up one too many times....ok so u spewed( threw up) don't know where it came from....thought it was above the band, the one thing I would share is..if you have not have reflux before band or since being banded and then it comes back or you develop it SEE YOUR DOCTOR....

Being Treated Different Already Before The Band!
Emilie1 replied to ilikebunnies's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Funny that this conversation is going on now...my best friend has always supported me....she is considering doing it shelf now, not because she is obese but for health reasons......my sister in law the same....the only person that ever said any thing negative was a supper skinny co worker when I was first banded.....she thought I would change in some way....guess what three years later I am still the same me:). Lol -

Are ER And Other Specialists Prepared To Handle Lapband Emergencies?
Emilie1 replied to NoMoBand's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
From my experience with my slip last year, there were several hospitals in my area and I intentionally went to one that had a bariatrics program...(not mine). And they would not touch me....I think our best bet is to find local band dr.'s contact them when there is not an emergency....to have a plan if there is an emergency. That being said, I have not done it yet. -
I believe they do not want you to take anything like ibuprofen because it can sit in your small pouch and cause irritation. My dr. Only wants me to take Tylenol.....I wish I could find liquid ibuprofen for adults....
