I went to a SWL seminar in Birmingham after my personal Doctor recommended that the only way I could lose weight was to do so surgically. I stepped on the scales and saw my weight at 590 lbs. I have been on many diets since becoming an adult. failed at each and every onoe of them. weight watchers didn't work, all 5 times I tried them. nutrisystem didn't work, either time. yes I lost weight, and then gained it back times 2 each time I came off the diet. I am a compulsive eater. I eat when I am upset. I eat when my mood swings. My first meeting with Doctor Schmitt, he told me if I would get my weight below 500 lbs, he would consider me as a candidate for surgery. he recommended the RNY over the lap band for me because of my compulsive eating habits. he sent me to therapist, and psychologist to try and wrap my head around my eating problems, and they finally gave apporval for me to go ahead with the surgery. I went into surgery weighing 490 lbs. My wife had me up and walking within an hour of me coming out of recovery. she has been a great help to me. she supports me when I am trying to do what is right. and lets me know she is disappointed when I screw up. having this surgery hasn't been a cake walk. I still want to eat. I am better able to control it now. I weigh 360. my weight was down to 318 when I screwed up and started drinking diet soft drinks. big mistake. don't do it. I have got to get back on track. I will post more as time goes on.
