  1. Hey everyone! I am new to this site and and in the process of getting the band. I actually went to the doc a year ago for a referral. Got it and at that time my insurance would not cover the surgery. So, I began a weight loss program on my own. I did drop exactly 30 pounds over a year. Not alot of weight for such a long time. But now I have begun to gain. 5 pounds now. No change to program either. ANYWAY ..... I went back to the doc 2 days ago. (Monday). She tells me now that I have to be on a doctor supervised weight loss deal for 6 months then she will do the referral. She stated because I have diabetes, developed with my twins pregnancy and it did not go away after.... that she would do it at 3 months. Ok.... I have been on this thing for 1 year to the day ... maintained meal charts and activities daily. Now, I have to continue. My biggest question is ..... I am back to this program full force .... what if I drop some of the weight and I no longer hit the required weight to get the surgery???? :faint: What do you guys do when you have to be on this "doctor's supervised" time period????? 2. Hey! I actually just went to my doc yesterday and she told me the same thing. I had gone in to her for a referral a year ago. She tells me that I have to be under the doctors care for 6 months and keeping a daily record for the 6 months! I told her that I had been on the program I am on for a year to the day. I had the daily records of exercise and meals ..... won't work .... because I was not under her "care" for that time period. Oh, this sucks! I have diabetes. I developed it when I was pregnant with my twins who are now 20 months old. She did say because of that, they would work with me at 3 months. I was really really hoping I could get this sooner! I agree with ya. Why make us do this for 6 months when most of us have been at it almost a lifetime! Good luck with your process! Jeanee
