Did your Doc require a pre-op diet?
miminms replied to whosthatgirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Oh my goodness! Now that's a SWEET husband!! He needs an extra special hug!! LOL No doubt with that kind of support, you'll do great! -
You go girl!! Don't let anyone pull you down!! As for the gallbladder surgery at a different time....everyones Doc is different and yours is the one you need to trust. He knows what's best for you. Neither surgery is bad and I love that you are thinking about yourself. It's about time we all "milk" some time for ourselves! LOL Keep us all posted. Keep the smiles coming and don't listen to any negative crap! You are going to do great!!!

hf2havefun..I know what you mean. When I got my date you could not have wipped the smile off my face!! I just knew it was a life altering moment. I was banded 6-19-07. I too had a gallstone. My Dr. removed my gallbladder at the same time he did my lapband surgery. I haven't had any complications and have done great. So far I've lost about 30 lbs. I feel great! I'm still smiling!!! Congratulations....it won't be long now!!! Good luck and God bless!

KtKt, I was banded 6-19 and decided to tell all family and close friends. Everyone has been so supportive and helpful. The only thing I've noticed is that a "well intended" family member asked how I was doing and I said great and they said, "Oh I know you'll do wonderful, so and so had it done and she's lost 56 lbs in 2 months! I'm sure it's just going to fall off of you!!" I know it was meant as encouragement, but first of all that weight loss sounds hard to believe and it felt like pressure for me. I'm still not sorry I told, just wondering if others have had that same "comparison" thing to deal with. Just something to remember when making your decision. Good luck to you! It's the best thing I've ever done for myself.

Bandster Hell: Anyone in Heaven?
miminms replied to pandagirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Coco, Thanks for the follow up. My insurance didn't cover my surgery, so I just keep praying that I'll be one of the "lucky ones" that breeze through and won't have any additional costs! ha! I hope all goes well for you and no more problems. Thank you for the encouragement. Keep up the good work! I'll be keeping up with your progress. -

lindasusan, No, I haven't had any problems at all. I sometimes feel like what I've had to eat has gotten kinda stuck in my chest, but I just wait a little while (as the info and Dr. said) and then take a few sips of water and I'm fine after that. My Dr. told me not to take any type pill larger than the opening in my nostril..sounded funny, but he said if the pill is small enough to fit in my nose, it will go through the band. I still break all pills in half. I'm not taking any chances. ha! Good luck to you! I'll be out of town for the weekend, but I hope to hear from you first of next week. Take care! -
Hello Everyone! I live in Jackson, Mississippi and just had a Lap Band put in two weeks ago. At that time, I had never talked to anyone who had the Lap band..I only knew a few gastric bypass patients. I found that my experiences were very different and I was so happy at my one week check up to meet not one, but two wonderful ladies who had the Lap Band. I was thrilled to have someone to talk to. One lady (friend now!) told me about this site and I am eager to learn about the experiences of others. I also had my gallbladder removed and a hiatal hernia repaired at the same time my band was put in. I have been doing great. I can now have foods the consistency of a soft scrambled egg, etc. I could never describe how "unbelievably yummy" that first egg was after three weeks of "liquids"!! Life is good again! ha! I look forward to many conversations and learning things that will help me and hopefully I'll have something to contribute to others as well! Sincerely, miminms

Congrats to you also longtimecomin!! Wow....It won't be long now. I remember so well, how exciting the count-down was. I just wanted to be on the other side and starting a new count. Now I'm there and doing great. I feel like a whole new world has opened up to me. I know that what I have done is a tool to help me, but that is exactly what I needed. Help and hope for the future! Now I feel like I can do anything. This is something I've been dealing with for way too many years. Good luck, God bless and I wish you the very best. I'll be watching for your posts.

Hi Beena, I have the same amount to loose as you said you do. About 150 lbs. ...My BM was 48%.. With the two weeks pre-surgery "liquid diet", I have lost a total of 26 lbs. I'm thrilled with that and so are both of my Dr's. I'm really doing great. It has been 2 1/2 weeks now. I have no pain whatsoever and I have had no complications. I hope you don't mind me keeping you in my prayers. I know that has helped me through and I know what a huge decision this is. I have to go to my nephews wedding tomorrow in Nashville, so I won't be posting this weekend. I'll catch up first of next week. You take care and hang in there. You are never alone in this journey!

Bandster Hell: Anyone in Heaven?

I just had my band 2 weeks ago. Can you tell me what to do so that I won't have a band slipage?? Did you do anything different? I can't imagine constant surgeries. Does it cost the same to reposition and is the surgery the same? pre and post? I'm just wondering what to expect. -

Hi! I also had my surgery on 6-19-07! I'm doing great. I hated the two weeks pre-op. That was the hardest! The week after wasn't so bad because I wasn't really hungry while recuperating. This week I've been given back foods the consistency of a soft scrambled egg! It was amazing!! Like you, my problem has been stopping and thinking before I picked up my old "bad habits" again. I'm thrilled with my results...so far I've lost 26 lbs. I had a bm of 48%, so I have much, much more to go. Good luck to you! -
Thank you. I know you will make the right decision for you. I know first hand it is something to think long and hard about and for me it was a lot of prayers too. I just knew that I needed help and I've tried it ALL! When I made up my mind, I felt that I had hope for the future for the first time in many years. God bless you! Hang in there let me hear from you also.

Boy do I know how you feel! I'm in Mississippi and I just had my band put in two weeks ago yesterday. I don't know anything about your Dr. as I live in another state, but my sister lives in Birmingham and his name was mentioned as a good Dr. As for the first week; The first two days it hurt to get up and down on the bed, walking around and going to the bathroom. You'll need help. My pain level never went about a 4--I promise. I actually had my gallbladder removed and a hiatal hernia repaired at the same time my band was put in. I did great and the pain of moving around left me in a few days. I am so excited for you. Let us know how you are doing. This is my first post as I am new to the site.
