1) did anyone start off a smaller patient? I'm going in for surgery Thursday @ 220.... & 30 yes old. I'm curious about the speed of weight loss, loose skin. 2) did anyone have heart palpitations prior to surgery? I have been struggling with them for years and am hoping that they will deminsh. 3) lastly, anyone have low Iron due to heavy periods? I have also struggled with this & am hoping that these two things will correct over time with some weight loss. I can't wait to feel better...

Hey! My name is Amber & I am a newbie. I am currently scheduled for surgery on Thursday. I'm nervous, scared, excited & happy... I started this journey 2 years ago @ 268lbs. I chickened out because I wasn't ready. I had no clue how to exercise, had no clue about nutrition & wasn't ready for the divorce from food. I lost 60lbs on my own but of course put 20 back on... I've got a dominant fat gene & anymore it's a struggle to lose weight. This surgery will be another tool to put in my toolbox. I'm weighing in at 220 going into this surgery. Sooooo scared of liver not being small enough, dying, losing too much weight, deficiencies, aweeee lawdy lawdy.... I'm sure all will be fine but a nervous wreck!

I was told they go by your initial weigh in. So if you weigh in at 220 that is what they look at when going through approvals.

It's been 4 days. I actually got most of my liquids in yesterday, but it was a chore. I get to start full liquids today. Ehh.,. Did you have trouble with anything? The gas is horrible. I'm just trying to walk a lot. What was your starting weight? Mine was 227, 219 pre op, 224... Current ( I think I still have all that stuff they pump into you at the hospital).

I feel ya. Mine is becoming insecure. He has always told me that he'll love me no matter what size. I think he meant on the larger side of things. It's an adjustment for him too. We have always enjoyed food, beer, wine together & remove that from the equation & we are pretty boring. This is for you. If he chooses not to be in the same boat, then that's on him. You can't change anyone but only tell them how you feel and what they decide to do with it is on them. Keep your head up doll!

Damn! Like a BOSS!!!! I'm over here loving the pain meds! Just got home, went for a walk, took some pain meds... Then Nap! You go girl!

Yeah. I was admitted thurs at 545. Surgery was over by 10 am and was released this morning at 10.

I myself went into this 2 years ago. I was at 270 pounds. Lost some weight on my own but 6 months ago decided to have surgery. People will always say what they want. This is YOUR decision- no one elses. Surgery was Thursday and went in at 219.3. My only regret this far is nor doing it sooner! Congrats on your decision, only you can make it for yourself.

He said it was good. All went really well, like you said. I will probably get to go home in a couple hours. Narcotics are great! Gas sucks but the more you walk, the better you feel.

Hi ellend! My surgery was yesterday. I did pretty well. The anesthsia made me sick but besides that everything was ok. Walk! If that's all u do, walk! You will feel soooo much better! You will be in my prayers! Good luck on Thursday!

Narcotics are great! So much pain yesterday... Pure hell. But the more walking the better! Who knew passing gas would feel so great! They cleared me for clear liquids! Swallow study went well.

Sitting in pre surgical services, getting ready for surgery. I'm nervous, scared and almost chickened out last night. I'm hoping I don't regret this.

That's good to hear. I have done pretty well with the pre op diet... although it's hard. I had no idea how much my life revolved around food. It's been an eye opening experience. Thanks for your story. I'm beginning to chill out.
