Anyone Regret The Surgery?
Mbrock replied to steph1558's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Paul, I did my homework as well. Unfortunately all "homework" in the world could not have predicted what would occur years down the road. Not sure If someone tellIng me would have stopped stopped me back t then. BeIng skInny was much more appealIng. That's the unfortunate Part of the medIcal fIeld, dont fInd out complIcastIons from meds , surgerIes, etc.untII crap happens. Noone to blame. My " I's look like "L's" not sure why , but not going to worry about it! -
Anyone Regret The Surgery?

I am attatching an email from me explaing, just a glimpse, of why I "regret" the surgery. I was asked why from the begining but did not keep up with this very much. Being on a computer is hard for me sometimes, and I've had 2 surgeries on my right arm since the original question from "steph". Hope this helps. FORWARD: "I SOOOO understand each and every person in some aspect or another. I can probably safely say i've walked at least a step in each of everyones shoes..if not a mile. It wasn't until approx. 3 years ago..maybe even less, that I said outlays "Y ES, I 100% regret the surgery. But has ZERO to do with food or eating. It's the fact that i've had over 22 surgeries after...during these years I just thought I had bad luck..which I really do, but my problems are just so constant , some life threatening, will be life long , and it never, never stops. It's the pain inside , emotionally, mentally as well as physically ive not only caused to myself(which if were only me , I could deal with that, but to see my family worry, hurt ,scared for me, my life, my marriage and all wonder if I'll make it to see my 22 yr old. Daughter grad from Graduate School with her Master or get married and see 10 1/2 year old son graduate HS...muchless college. Which I don't know how that will ever get paid for since hospital bills are approx 200.000.00 a year. Which was easier to manage working for major hosp with good ins helped. But I guess after 3 years there and only had 1 full paycheck ( first 2 weeks there!) they didn't care for me being out for Dr visits, specialists, er visits,.then hospitalized 6 Wks at a time then recouping, return and then some other freak thing happens. I did my homework before this, trust me. I'm in the medical field over 15 years. Wasn't the dr's fault, blah , blah.blah .."they" the medical professionals don't know it all. Trial and error. That's where lap band came in. th e "safe surgery". Now the surgeon who saved my life in 04/10.won't even discuss doing one of those and will tell ya get the hell out of his office if ya try ! Very brunt, up fronts , nothing held back type man. We didn't quite connect at first meeting when he did a "direct admit " & told me I was a day or two away from dying, after listening to me 5 minutes, BIG THANKS to my OB/GYN who looked at my CT scan I brought in sent me to him ASAP. I had to be fed through IV for a week to survive the surg. I had dilated loop syndrome, basically being strangled by intestines and scar tissue. kinda common after so many surg's but I shouldn't.had to go approx year misdiagnosed...I give my self credit.there for researching , pointing out on several CT s.that the "mass" showing up is getting bigger!! ) That's frustrating and expensive. But I'm not a cut and dry.. Case by any means...and to try to explain this over and over from one Specialists to another is just now mind blowing. and frankly, I'm worn out. up until last October I could tell you every surg , every hosp done in dr's. Name , date etc. I can't sit and spit out what i've already had done this year. The paPerworK is mind blowing. But thank goodness I had that medical background because I have every damn copy/original EVERYTHING from piss tests to bypass, Iron, blood transmission, labs. Wish I could just burn it! wow..hope I didn't say too much that's just one surgery in April 2010 I spoke about! And I'm happy for everyone who does well and know personal friends and family who had WLS and never wish this on anyone. Lap Band was the biggy last year where I work all the employees were getting it, but everyone also knew me, saw me, heard my stories ,and they would say " I'm not having that one you had, nine is safe" ... I had to speak up when I finally saw someone ask the question i've tried do searches for " anyone have regrets" . If I just didn't say Yes I would still feel guilty. Live and learn! If you're curious, I was 239 @ weigh in November 1999 now 88-95 #'s. My desired weight,.115. Dr's want me 125\130. But would be very pleased at triple digits!" -

The "not absorbing" IS THE PROBLEM. Maybe not 6 days, 6 weeks 6 months or 6 years out.....Some bodies just don't well , at all, with this surgery. I'll try to attach a article.that explained a lot for me and my life time battle with the "Cons" that are now being studied because of so many issues later in life. Anyone Regret The Surgery?

I would love to tell my story...but it's way too much HX. The surgeon didn't do anything wrong , nor did I. There are complications with every SX out there. Some don't don't get discovered Until many years, patients, etc later. I just don't see any of those "stories" here and that concerns me because it's a life altering, good or bad, because someone posted a question, I posted an opinion , 13 years POST OP , and get slammed by negAtive emails. This is why I deleted this app so many times. Just do your homework , and remember this is a sounding board...nothing more. I went about 11 years before I could honestly say, YES I REGRET THIS SX. If my body could survive a reversal, I would. Thanks. BaseballMom<br /> -

Hi, Steph. WoW. I've been reading this site on and off now for awhile. I've deleted, re-Installed, deleted and re-installed again just one more time! And saw your question. YES! There are , well I'll speak for me and my late brother in law (same procedure ..the big "R" one) who 13 YEARS LATER wish now I did not have this done ...or new the consequences it has brought be and people around me. Too numerous to just blurt out....and frankly I'm tired of telling or trying to tell...NOT to you or anyone reading this. But medical Dr after medical Dr, ER visits, hospital s, specialists ++ Anyway, I told myself not to get all worked up! So, a BIG YES is my answer! -
