Wow, that's the kind of care my family thinks I'd be getting in Mexico. Lol. They think I'd go to some tent in an alley in the hood. How scary and rude!!! Center of excellence? Wow! The place I'm going through now is also a center of excellence, and Now I'm questioning that. Is there a place that one can read hospital reviews!? I wonder of this hospital has awful reviews. I'm so sorry you were treated that way. What a shame. Too bad you didn't get it tecorded,, maybe you could sue for PTSD. Lol

Now. I started a similar thread asking if you regret having the rny procedure. Everyone said no. Now, I'd like to know what leaned you toward this over the sleeve? I'm trying to make the most educated decision I can. My pcp yesterday, told me that he had a patient nearly die because he took an anti inflammatory after the rny and nearly killed himself. This is news to me. When will I learn all of his?

I'm still pre op but I wanted to say that I watch a lot of YouTube videos and every time someone was having a stall, their dietician actually told them to up their calories to lose. hese were women who were working out a lot tho? Are you? -
Oh my gosh I remember 2 tomes in my life in the last 8 years that this happened. I actually cried both times. I was hurting, sad, angry and embarrassed at how far I'd let myself go.

wow! I was just googling "gastric bypass before and after," hit pics, and saw this pic of htis lady- it intrigued me, so I clicked it. gosh I didn't really think about this before, but i can DEFINITELY see how people could become anorexic. I wonder how we go about never becoming that!!!!!! My journey is hopefully going to be one of health and becoming "normal." I know what a healthy goal is for my body type. but who knows what's going to go through my head as I lose. http://suethsayings.blogspot.com/2011/05/sick-gastric-bypass-patient-not-so-rare.html?m=1 -
So far all the rny patients I've asked this question are glad they did it. One person on the sleeve boards say they kindof wish they had gone with the rny because they can still eat sweets. I'm leaning toward rny at this point. I just can't kick what my sister said the other day "rny should be illegal". She's a nurse and sees a lot of patients. I'll ask her why. I bet a big part of it is people who don't follow the rules and tried to eat a bunch of crap and get really unhealthy. Also, a friend said she doesn't think my surgeon will do rny on me because my bmi is 41. ? I have about 100 lbs to lose.

Hello! It's good to hear your story and I'm happy that you have had so much success!! I'm still torn between the sleeve and the RNY. I am worried about things like the bowel issues some people have later down the road, and hypoglycemia etc. I really hear a lot of negative. I want to lose fast and it seems like rny Patients get tinier Than sleeve patients, generally speaking. I've read though, that rny is usually reserved for people with higher BMIs, and more health problems. my bmi is 41 and I think I might have sleep apnea but that's about it besides depression which is directly related toy weight. I don't know if that is enough health problems to really justify the more drastic surgery. I really like the idea of the possibility of having dumping syndrome because I love love love sugar. Or. I hate it? Depends on how you look at it. I hope noone thinks I'm trying to turn this post into being all about me. I'm very happy for the OP and we've been talking through pm's. Ps I have 6 children 6m-10yr. 4 cats and a dog. Lol.

gosh, I didn't mean to offend- I'm just trying to get all the info I need. I'm just going by what I read/hear at this point, you know? my sister is a nurse and she told me last night "the rny should be outlawed," and here I am still researching it. it's not her body. I am a little scared of that painful hernia thing that can happen later, but that's operable and doesnt' kill anyone, right? I really want fast weightloss, and I really think dumping can be wonderful for me because I am a slave to sugar. I HATE HATE HATE it. I see a lot of peopel ont eh sleeve boards that talk about how they are eating a lot of carbs and they just can't stop. I dont want that at all! Iw ant to be successful for life. my bmi is only (only?) 41, and I dont have any co-morbidities. when do i meet with my surgeon? :/ I'm starting the 6 month diet w/ my dr, and I need to get him to sign the referral paper and then i can make my appt w/ missouri bariatrics. will i see the surgeon then? I didn't go to a seminar because they had an online seminar. which i think was handy. gosh- it's a huge decision, isn't it?
-
wow.. well, I don't have issues with that- that's not to say i never will. I'm so torn. it really does seem like rny patients get tinier, and i want to be tiny FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, but what about the mal absorbtion i hear about? how did you guys make your choice? gah! I'm meeting w/ them sometime super soon.
-
Yeah, I'm so not interested in the band at all. At. All. It's now between the sleeve and rny. I could be wrong, but it seems like rny people get quite a bit tinier. I was looking at before and afters in obesity help and I double clicked all the ones that were super tiny and they were all rny, one somethingthatstartswithad switch. Maybe they just don't have that many sleevers there. Still thinking. What is the benefit of not rerouting?

You had gotten a different type of surgery? I'm trying to decide. Honestly, the thought of dumping if I eat sugar sounds awesome. Because I'm a big sweet eater. Its like a spanken, lol.
