    "oh, How I Miss You...."

In my book from the hospital it says peanut butter is a good source of protein. I was going to try it in my shake tonight. What do you all think about it? I know it has sugar so I'm uncertain.

    My Story

Going to the gym was tough for me. I love to swim and the gyms here that are cheap have no pool and I hate the treadmill. Anyway I went yesterday and did more than I thought I would. I think for us "slim impaired" folks it is hard to go to the gym or work out because we rarely saw results before. I have just decided that finding ways to work out is a new adventure. Having doubts is natural but it's just because your mind is telling you you will be depriving yourself and you won't be. Every now and again you will crave something you cant have but it won't last long. You have so much support and do much to look forward to! We have all been through it. ((hugs))) Onyx
  3. I got that card too that says I am allowed. It's kinda neat! I took my bro out to Breakfast the other day and had like 2 bites of an all white omelette...,it didn't play nice but I was only 2.5 weeks out of surgery. Last night and this morning I had lobster tail....now THAT'S a breakfast of champions! Lol Onyx
  4. I am also a coconut lush!! I buy the sugar free coconut Torani syrups and put them in my protein shakes....so dang yummy!!!!

    Howdy From So Cal

I was going to do the sleeve at first too but after going to the seminar and given the statistics, the RNY patients lost more. In my case I started at 360lbs so it was better for me. In your case you may not need to lose like 200lbs so the sleeve may work. As far as sugar I have mentioned in other places on the forum that once you start drinking shakes everyday it really tends to ween you off of sweets. Like I am typically a chocolate addict but since I have a chocolate shake daily, I don't crave it in candy or Cookies etc. you may find that different but for me it's great. There are pros and cons to both surgeries and there are always risks. I would say the complications aren't near what they used to be as RNY is more common now. Either way we are here to support you! Be blessed, Onyx

    Do You Ever Wish

No I like that I did the bypass. Besides I am probably the world's biggest chocolate fanatic but with all the shakes and chewable vitamins you have to take, it puts a damper on that sweet tooth. I crave non sweet stuff now. I'm sure others will agree.

    "oh, How I Miss You...."

I agree with everything you said!!! Cheating and overeating is what made me need surgery in the first place. I look forward to all the possibilities of what I can do now and later that have nothing to do with food. I agree if you're already trying to cheat you might be in big trouble later

Did Anyone Cheat On Preop Diet?

I lost 15 in the liquid diet for 2 weeks. I lost 30 altogether from my first appt in November 2011
  12. My name is Onyx. I am 32 and as of November 2011 I weighed 360 lbs. I started my journey here in Albuquerque, NM but my gastric bypass surgery was done at Del Sol Bariatric Hospital in El Paso, TX on April 23, 2012 by Dr. Michael Lara. I am glad for this online support system. I know when I began the journey I had those for and against the surgery. I am happy to say those who doubted support me now. I did this to be the Lord's testimony. In order to have any of the weight loss surgeries you have to be courageous even when you are terrified. I knew I couldn't do that without God's help. I want to be a support system to anyone in need whether surgery happens or not. It's the hardest decision I ever made but I am happy for a new chance at life. I am happy and blessed to meet all of you and see you online! And I'm praying for everyone's strength and success! I am already among friends! Onyx

    Emotions

It's like any other addiction. You have just told your body once and for all that you aren't feeding it into oblivion and as revenge it's fighting back. Being emotional is normal you just need to put something else in its place that is positive. Reading, praying, working out, chatting with others here and hopefully there are support groups in your area too. Don't worry your body is just in freak out mode but we are all in this together and we will get you through it Onyx

Jen, as far as I know some surgeons request the liquid diet if you are extremely overweight and in other cases not. I was 360lbs when I went in November for my first consultation. He told me then I had to lose 15-20 lbs before surgery. I ended up losing 30. Don't worry if you haven't been asked to go on a diet just don't gain any Onyx
  18. I think I felt that feeling at first BUT I also knew that God had opened the door for me to have the surgery. He got me through it and I had such a sense of peace all the way up to and including that day. If He wanted to take your life He would anyway but I believe for you all too that He opened that door to set you up for success so you could fulfill His plan and be yet another testimony! Praying for you!!! Onyx

    Pre-Op Weirdness

Yup I sure did! From the day of my first consultation to almost 2 weeks before the liquid diet I was eating at every restaurant possible. But then all of a sudden I felt ashamed and I wanted to do better and I did. I look at the "tornado eating" as traveling. There is no food I haven't tried, nothing I have kept myself from and now I have to start a new journey. My mind still keeps the memory of a bag of Doritos or the taste of a donut but I know indulging leads to failure. Don't be hard on yourself, when you are ready to get in the zone you will! Praying for you! Onyx

    2 Days Until Surgery

I was so excited that I couldn't wait. Everyone asked if I was nervous and I never felt that way. The idea of someday having kids or riding crazy roller coasters or even buying a beautiful gown for my brother's wedding or being able to encourage others for the Lord all outweighed my fears....I am 2 weeks out of surgery and it's an adjustment but praise God it's been great!! Focus on the blessings this will bring to your life and look at the surgery date as your new birthday Onyx

    8 Days To Go

Praying for both of you! I had my surgery 2 weeks ago. The hospital made everything easy and it went great. If you both went through the long process to get to this point then you can do it! I'm here for support too! Onyx

    Seafood Done Right!

Tonight I made Citrus Salmon 1-2 pieces of salmon 1 large orange 1 large lemon 2 tablespoons of minced garlic Rosemary Salt Pepper In a casserole dish place the fish for marinade Salt and pepper both sides of the fish Cut lemon and orange in half and squeeze the juices over the salmon. Rub garlic over top of fish Sprinkle rosemary on the top Cover with aluminum foil and refrigerate for 30 min, flip the salmon over, cover and let sit for another 30 min. Dump the marinade into a skillet and heat for 3 minutes then add the salmon. Cook on each side for 5-6 min. It's juicy, tasty and perfect source of protein!
