What Protein Shakes Do You Use?

Just a little info I found about why it's better to by the whey Isolate instead of the Whey Protein The primary difference between isolate protein and concentrate is that the isolate is more pure. In other words, isolate contains more protein with less fat and lactose per serving. Based on whose figures you go by, whey isolate usually contains between 90-94% protein while whey concentrate has a protein ratio of 70-85%. Onyx

Also I want everyone to please post these 3 things 1 good thing that has happened since your surgery 1 good thing that you are closer to doing 1 good piece of advice for those who are considering surgery I know we are all finding struggles but sometimes it's great to hear the positives too!! Here is mine 1. God has helped me inspire others to get healthy 2. Wearing my Yankees jersey and being able to button it 3. Get educated as much as possible and realize there are those who will be against the idea. Pray pray pray!!! Onyx

    Breakfast Ideas

I agree egg substitutes might work better. Or try only egg whites and see how that is. Onyx

    Hi

Right now I am using Bariatric Advantage but I also like Muscle Milk powders.

    Hi

What I like is the customizable part of having the powders. I add, fruit, sugar free syrups, and flavor packs to them. It tastes great. I love liquid Muscle Milk as a quickie.

Thank you all. I want to remain positive but I think when I don't see the scale move I am back in my mind to the way it was before surgery. Onyx

    2Days Post Op

Canned tuna and salmon have been great for me. They are both high in protein and they go down well with fat free mayo and mustard. As far as the shakes I bought the Ninja blender and I use soy milk and ice in my shakes and sugar free Torani syrups so that makes then good too!

    Friday Weigh-In!

I think I need a bit of a pep talk here. I did my weigh in on Monday and I was 315 which is what I was 2 weeks ago. I'm certain I am getting my protein in but anyone feeling stuck lately? I'm 27 days post op and down 17 pounds since surgery. Onyx
  18. Try this idea. Find some cheap Water bottles (I recommend the 1 liter smart water bottles) fill them up and tell yourself you have to drink both bottles every day (this is about 66 oz) then its like your Vitamins, you know you need to take them. When you use the bottles you then don't have to guess how much and you are more apt to drink them.....I hope this helps Onyx

    Almost 3 Weeks Post Op

It is hard at first! I'm working on it still. The key is to get Protein powders that are plain and use things to make them better. I use Torani sugar free syrups, there are like 30 flavors and you can make a ton of combinations. I had trouble with the shakes at first and the hospital had me on Carnation instant Breakfast and beneprotein. It was awful!!!! But now I make my shakes so it's great! As far as eating....tuna and canned salmon have a lot of protein if you like fish. You will get it I promise Onyx

    Pneumonia

I got pneumonia after my surgery but it wasn't from the surgery exactly. I got up and began walking when they got me in the room and I did great but in the middle of the night I aspirated. I apparently was coughing up stuff but because I was protecting my surgery I didn't cough hard enough to get it out. I will say that this is the first time that Dr. Lara ever had a patient that this happened to so the chance is very rare. What I stress and they do too is to walk when you come out of surgery as into your room. And walk often in the hospital. You should be fine! I was and am today Onyx

    Out Of Work

Depends on which surgery. With RNY I was out 4 weeks. My boss had lapband and was out for 2 weeks

    What's Been The Hardest?

Yes I agree to most of the above. Mine is getting used to taking all the Vitamins. I used to only take an Advil here and again, now I have all these vitamins. This isn't a bad thing though. I'd much rather all the vitamins than insulin injections daily which a lot of diabetics have to do. Also feeling a tad awkward with clothes at the moment. Some of my old stuff is too big but I'm not quite small enough to fit into some other stuff I have. Onyx
  23. You guys have some great ideas I haven't even thought of! My oldest brother is getting married next August and I want to buy a beautiful sequened gown for the occasion! Onyx

    "oh, How I Miss You...."

What helps me is to keep a log of what I'm eating and since it's tough to eat a lot, find things that are really high in Protein so you get all your protein but eat less. Like yesterday I had a lobster tail. It's kinda small but had 35g of protein! Hope that helps hon Onyx
