Bought My Gym Membership Today!
Beachbum replied to Beachbum's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love the idea of a 24 hour center. I would go at midnight LOL. I joined Boston Sports Club. They offer babysitting and I saved a little since my husband is a member. Going to get started with cardio then meet with a trainer for a fitness eval. They offer a 4 session startup with a trainer. I need someone to show me how to do targeted work on upper arms, thighs, butt, and tummy. Got the go ahead fromm surgeon this past week. -

One Month Before And After

Oops - should have posted a caption Day of surgery pic = 376 4weeks post op = 335.5 40.5 lbs! -
I have 3 small children - ages 4, 3, and 9 months. I work in education and am off for the summer. I am up and literally running around starting at 5:30am until 8:30 or whenever the kids crash. Trying to get a good walk or any kind of meaningful exercise with them is a joke. We take a walk and they stop every two feet to look at bugs. I have to wait until they go to bed and my husband gets home from work to go out and walk. For the 3rd night in a row, I get a call from him saying he'll be late. By the time he rolls in, it's after 10:30 and I'm too exhausted to go for a power walk. Monday it was errands, last night he stopped at the gym to splash around in the hot tub because his back was sore, tonight its the street near his office was flooded so he is waiting for the clean up. I'm so aggravated!!!!! Exercise is a huge part of this and all he has to do is get home before 9pm. My mother in law does help with the kids a couple of days a week but i use that time to grocery shop, prepare food, clean, etc. I just had to blow off before I scream

Surgery At 3:35 Pm ?
Beachbum replied to americas_suiteheart's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Will do! You'll be fine. See you on the other side -
My mother in law's friend had it and then her daughter in law had it. The doc cut into an artery by accident and she ended up in the ICU for a week. That could happen in any surgery though. Looks like a nice malpractice suit though.

Start Pureed Tomorrow!
Beachbum replied to amanda11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My favorite us fat free refried beans thinned with chicken broth. Mix up then melt 1/4 c reduced fat cheddar. Blend. One can makes about 4 - 2oz servings. I also like ricotta cheese with sugar free tomato sauce. Add some oregano and garlic salt. I have also made chicken vegetable soup from scratch and blended it to be a thick broth. All 3 have a lot if protein. Good luck! -
I bought a sample pack of the nectars. I use 16 oz of water instead of 8 and mix in a crystal light singles packet. Shake it up with a lot of ice and keep it very cold. I mix the chocolate types with EAS advantage chocolate shakes - 40 g of proteinin 11 oz. Also drink over a lot of ice. Since it takes so long to drink, I don't count them as a meal.

Starting Regular Diet

The nectars are made by Syntrax. I ordered a sample pack of ten flavors from mybariatricpantry.com. Great way to try flavors before investing. I really liked the lemon flavor. Instead of mixing with 8 ounces of water, I mixed with 16 plus a crystal light lemonade single packet and drank as a " water" instead of a meal replacement. Lots of ice too. Mixed some of the other fruit flavors with the CL iced tea. I also mix the chocolate and vanilla types with EAS advantage premade protein shakes ( chocolate fudge) for a yummy chocolate milk taste and a ton of protein - 30g in 11 ounces -
So exiting! I'm happy for you!

Yes, itching is a sign of healing. The nerve endings are working again. Do you still have any steristrips or bandages on? That would Aldo cause itching. Don't scratch and try ice to numb. If the incisions are closed fully, try preparation h. I used it on mosquito bites. Numbs the itch and reduces swelling. Good luck!!

Friday Weigh-In!
Beachbum replied to KevinsBabyGirl85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
3 weeks post surgery yesterday. Down 30lbs!!! Day of surgery = 376.5 yesterday = 346.5 love that I'm closer to 300 than 400 Wearing clothes I haven't worn in about 6 years! -
Mine shrunk and dropped. I think my belly was holding them up LOL. Was a 42c now I could probably fill out a B cup . Maybe they can transplant some from my ass

Did anyone have to do Lovanox injections post surgery? It's to prevent bloodclots. Injection site is near belly button - I have massive bruising and have two "lumps" - one on either side of belly button. I'm presuming this is due to injections. Have a doctors appointment next week but still a little worried.
-
Whew!!! I was starting to think I had cancer or something.... Belly fat melts away to reveal tumors!
-
That's a great accomplishment!

My BMI was 51 at time of surgery. Hang in there ... 4 weeks will be here before you know it!

Officially Post Op!
Beachbum replied to sofreakinamazing's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
30oz!! That is amazing! I did that 4 days out, not next day . Up to 60 now at 17 days post op. I find the more I drink, the better I feel -
If they find a hernia - will they repair? Recommended recovery time before lifting, driving, sex, etc. Also, I had to 2 weeks post op injections of Lovenix to prevent blood clots - they mandated it for BMI over 50

Each insurance and surgeon is different. My insurance approved within a week. My surgeon's process was about 2 months. I had mine 6 months after I started the process based on my own family schedule. Some people are required to be on a program for 6 months. Check with your surgeons office . Good luck!

Can Anyone Help ?pre-Op Question
Beachbum replied to Jasmine Brior's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First off - good luck!!! Sounds like you are mentally ready to go. My WLS center recommended walking/cardio so that you can be in good shape cardiovascular wise going into the surgery. I had a couple of "goodbye" meals too. Not toomany so as not to gain weight presurgery but enough to keep me satisfied. I have a body pillow I used during pregnancy which helped with sleeping. It will be here before you know it. I'm 2 weeks and 3 days post op and the time has flown by because I fill my days with nonfood things. If I obsess over food then it bothers me. You just have to think of those blended mini meals as fuel -
Two ounce containers to store blended food
