I bought Bariatric Advantage and they have chewable Vitamins, Iron, calcium, b12 etc, in different flavours. And they are yummy. only thing I found is don't eat the lemon lime iron, with the multi vit blackcurrant. Not a good combo. The calcium comes in either high dose tablets that Taste like drinking chocolate, or caramel etc favored chews. My new legal treats that are good for me.

I agree sometimes the headaches are just not drinking enough Fluid. Don't understand slider food? What's that? I also don't get the full feeling but if I don't make a conscience effort to stop I will get the yuck i dont feel good feeling. I'm still learn what my new tummy can do.

I had a BMI of 35 and had health issues coming up fast. RNY was recommended by the surgeon over the sleeve, in my case because of a hiatus hernia and acid reflux. Surgeon also said that he his opinion RNY has more long term data behind it as to effectiveness, sleeve is still new and data still being collected about long term outcomes. In my opinion, it's unhelpful if after all the operation and everything we can still consume and rubbish that got us not this mess I the first place. RNY has and anti cheat, which I think is great, forces us to take the healthier options. And with both procedures Vitamins need to be taken for life.

I was told by my surgeon that they can give general guidelines, but everyone is different, and thats where we just hv to learn to understand our new bodies. No rule book of one rule for all, (with regard to dumping limits).

I hv meds that I can't stop, and my surgeon has prescribed losec as well. I was told I can hv gel caps, and capsules, but not those powdery tablets, as they can get stuck, and will taste and feel horrible until they melt. My friend said if she needs antibiotics she asks for liquid as her type comes in big elephant tablets.

My decision was made by the surgeon as I got acid reflux. That's gone with RNY, and would hv got worst with the sleeve. We need supplements for life either way. I was told that there is more documentation on RNY, as sleeve is relatively new. And just out of interest, the surgery centre I went to only one surgeon could do RNY as its more specialist. The other three surgeons there could do lap bands and sleeves, as they were more general surgeons not bariactric surgeons.

Let's Help Each Other On Those Bad Days
Neen replied to LosingItForMe2011's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I don't know, I only just found it too. The support would be good on the difficult days. -
Are you allowed to eat the protein bars instead of the shakes? I found they were better if I nibbled on them,... Found I had something to do with my teeth.

I remember that feeling,.... It was only a week ago. I'm guessing your on the pre-op diet. I know it's hard but just think its not forever. This is just a means to an end. Think of the long term benefits and how amazing it will be to be able to move and do everything you want to afterwards. This is just part of the journey. A wee price we pay to show we are ready for the change. You can do it. It's not easy, but you'll be proud of yourself for making it.

Surgery Set Up For 5/21 Thinking Of Backing Out
Neen replied to john's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Good on you John. I didn't tell alot of people pre-op because I didnt want to hear their opinions. Usually less informed than ours as they hadn't looking into it half as much. And those that don't understand saying dumb things like,... Just cut down on what your eating!!!! Gee never thought of that one myself! I only joined this forum yesterday, but ther seems to be fabulous people here and wonderful support. Your surgery centre would be the same. Don't listen to the negative ones. Maybe they just don't want you to change. Selfish on there part. Your health and future are alot brighter with the surgery and think of all the things that you will be able to do again with the weight off. Stay strong and good on you. -
One Month To Go- Nervous But Can't Wait
Neen replied to Ellie_Grace's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Don't do the last suppers!!! My friend did and put on 18 pounds in two weeks. Her op was a few years before mine. And now if there is a weight gain between the first consult and surgery, they stop the surgery. This is the surgeries rules, as the want everyone to get on board mentally before the op. I agree best option is eat health and similar to want is expected afterwards, although your portion pre-op are going to be alot larger. I'm 5days post op my meals are 4teaspoons of soft mushy food. -
Constipation After Surgery
Neen replied to crystalcdbailey's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was told to drink Alpine tea, and use benefibre. Sure Alpine tea would be available but not sure what an equivalent of the other would be. Can't use any fibrous drinks to help. -
What Protein Shakes Do You Use?
Neen replied to LosingItForMe2011's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Well they could probably be fine if recommend by others that have gone before or surgery staff. I'm from New Zealand and we don't have all the same products over here. -
Thanks. I wasn't sure. My partner keeps buying the type I used to drink. Think if I open it and let it go flat before I drink. And ask him to stop buying them for me now.

I was told by surgeon and nutritionist to keep away from alcohol for a least six months if not permanently. In some they said it causes dumping, but also we can get drunk very quickly, and that statistic shows that one in four bypass patients becomes alcoholic. Addiction transfer, and our faster absorption. To me that sounds scary.

I was a dedicated coffee addicit. I had coffee while in hospital but the flavor was too strong and they used instant coffee. Since then I have had one expresso with trim milk, and it was lovely. No side effects. But now only the best coffee will do, as I don't have the tummy room for bad coffee.

What Protein Shakes Do You Use?
Neen replied to LosingItForMe2011's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I was advised that the diet Protein Drinks I was on pre-op are too high in sugar post op. I'm only 5days post op so don't have the personal experience. My friend who is 3.5 years post op, has had the dumping from the higher sugar shakes. Have ordered and am waiting on some bariactric advantage products, including protein and shakes powders and a protein based vege Soup. I'm in New Zealand, and we are going into winter now, so something warm sounded good. Has anyone else tried this brand. It comes from the states. -
Hi there. I'm brand news to this forum, and only had my surgery on Tuesday this week (8th May). Still getting my head around everything. I'm not hungry but they didnt disconnect my nose! Still in pain from the laparoscopic surgery, and just got out of hospital yesterday. Notice this morning that I had dropped 3lb 8oz since surgery - 5 days ago. This is exciting and a little scary. I was told yoghurt (fat free) was good for meals, and puréed Soups with Protein content. Nurse said Protein shakes are fine now. But drink over 20 mins, not to snack all day. Before the op I used to drink sparkling mineral Water, does anyone know if that is still alright? Or do the bubbles upset our new tummies?
