  1. Hello Alll! This may seem inconsequential, but looking for answers. I am 3 weeks post-op and am getting used to the diet. I love to cook & one of my pet peeves is cold food. When I take the 20-25 minutes my doc recommends to eat, my food gets cold in minutes. Makes me crazy. I don't want to keep microwaving, ugh. Any suggestions? Thanks!!

    Question About Nails

Thankfully I didn't have a 3 week liquid diet. Went home on purred foods, soft after one week.

    Question About Nails

I don't have acrylics anymore, moved on to my natural nails with shellac/gel polish! It's awesome! Yes, I had to remove my nail polish before surgery. They look at your nails for oxygen content. You may want to ask.

    Help

Walmart makes a liquid Vitamin C called Wellese. It's actually good - kinda like a dreamsicle. It's worked great for me
  5. I had surgery May 1 & down 19 lbs! I came home on puréed food. I'm not sure why you gained weight on puréed? Was it high fat? I think you're doing a GREAT job getting your protien in. I'm still struggling getting it all in. I lost 13 lbs the first week & it's leveled off to 3-4 week, which I think is more attainable. Don't be frustrated. It's not a quick fix. It will take time. Be strong.

    Yum Yum Yummy!

Yay! I was wondering about jerky. My friend sent me a website with great jerky. www.healthysnackin.com. You should eat the shrimp! Great protein!
  7. Well, 10 days after surgery I experienced my first "coming back up". I didn't chew my salmon enough & that was that. It was kind of scary - I started to feel like I couldn't breathe. I am fine, but lesson learned. CHEW CHEW CHEW!!
  8. Hey all! Just wanted to share. I had my one week post-op appt this afternoon & am down 13 lbs! Much more than I thought it would be! I actually started to cry. Such a girl! Don't get discouraged! So stoked!
  9. I'm a side sleeper & was worried about pressure on my insides when I slept. My gem for the day: invest $20 in a body pillow & case! It is amazing! I sleep comfortably & my body feels supported. Target has them for $10/$10. Just thought I'd share.
  10. I was hoping I'd start loving sugar free jello, crystal light, etc. Ugh. Nope. I still hate them. Looking for alternatives.
  11. 2 weeks. Seems like a good amount of time.
  12. I just made a banana mango protien shake using Ensure High Protein Vanilla shake! 25 grams of protein only 5 grams sugar! Found at Walmart - they have chocolate too.

    Having A Hard Day

Hang in there! My doc let me go home on soft foods. Been making scrambled eggs, pureeing chicken, cottage cheese with fruit. Kinda good. I was watching a movie Saturday night with my husband & told him I miss Papa Johns with cocktails while we watch a movie. We still had fun. Have to separate food with good times. Good times are still to be had & food choices will increase. Can't wait for grilled shrimp, chicken, etc just in smaller amounts.
  14. I just made a banana mango shake with the Ensure's you're talking about. YUM!!!
  15. Thanks!! I know I can find them cheaper elsewhere. Have you looke at Sam's for anything?
  16. There's a really cool app (or website) www.calorieking.com that will give you information about food's nutritional value. I've used it many times. It pretty lists evert thing you can imagine to eat, restaurants included. I was told 15 grams of sugar max. Funny the different stories from different doctors.
  17. Leonor - maybe you're overdoing it. I know my post may seem lazy, but the most important thing after surgery is rest. This is my 5th major surgery (including 2 for cancer) and I tried to do too much at first too & paid for it. This is your time. I haven't been outta the house except the back yard. I sleep when I'm tired. My pain is pretty much gone, even when I get out of bed. Off my soapbox now. Just take care of yourself. Most important!
