Sandra, I just know something's not right there and that's what happened to me, along with some reflux and I had an upper GI to confirm it, now I'm waiting to see if it went back in to place after doc took out all the fluid. Another upper GI in June, if it went back I'll get a fill for sure, I need it. I just think something's going on with your band and it needs to be checked out. Hope it's fine for you though. Let us know how you're doing. People are having better luck with the sleeve now. Not sure though. I just hope my band goes back in to place cause I need it.

sandra, it sounds like your band has slipped, you need an upper GI, you should call the doc.

how do I get my ticker in there, I dont know where to paste it to.

Miss talking here, but it was nice to talk on facebook too.

Judy, Busha is Polish for grandma, I'm Polish, are you?

Loved the pics, I especially love authenic mexican food and it looked real authenic, especially the gold fish for the tacos, lol. Judy, you looked great after surgery, how did you do in walking? Is it still swollen? You girls looked so happy together.

Judy, it will take 6 months before you feel like yourself, believe me, I thought I was making progress then got knocked down and try again tomorrow kinda thing. I go for my 1 year checkup next month, I feel pretty good on that knee but sometimes the side of my knee feels numb and sometimes I can feel a pain or two but not when walking. I know I need another knee fixed but i can't imagine going through all this rehab right now again. It's a feeling of helplessness, you can't even get up out of bed or a chair for a while, I remember trying to hold the bathroom trip in the middle of the night cause I didn't want to get out of bed, pain. This is no quick fix but after 6 months you will be done with all the pain and stiffness. You will be just fine, just give it a little more time. Sometimes when I stand for a while the knee does its own thing, might bend a little by itself. Thinking of you.
-
So happy you are fine, Judy. Prayers do work, I believe that. Yeah, don't lose your bending power. You'll be running around California before you know it!
-
Judy, prayers are with you today, you will come back just fine. Your garden is absolutely beautiful. Thinking of you today.

Judy, I had a therapist who did a massage on my muscles all around my knee first, it felt great, she then pushed it back and that helped me a lot. It was a warm oil and they knew how to stroke the muscles. felt great. then I got the mean one and it was push back, try to push my arm back out while I'm pushing. didn't look forward to PT for sure but I guess it's part of recovery. I can walk a long distance but now my other knee is giving me problems. great.
-
Judy, I know how jittery you are today cause I've been there. Yesterday I took a long walk, about 2 miles, you know, I had some pain in the old knee and none in the new one, I am so happy I did the surgery. After about 2-3 weeks you'll be getting back to walking without devices and so happy you did this. Make sure you do your exercises after surgery cause this really helps, they get you right up after surgery and into therapy. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow and prayers are coming your way. Good luck!

I wonder if there's something going on with my band. I cannot eat solids that well and have been vomiting quite a bit this week, I can keep the protein shakes down but not quite sure why the vomiting. Can it be I'm getting stuck everyday, I don't know. I'm having an upper GI done on July 2nd, it is my 3 year checkup, and I'll know more then. I would worry more if I couldn't keep liquids down. Oh well, I think there's more complications with the band down the road than I thought about. I am happy to have lost the weight and don't regret it at all. On our anniversary today I couldn't go out to eat, instead I am having a protein shake:(.

Thanks everyone for the good wishes. Hard to imagine I've been with him for so long, oh well, another 43? Judy, are you going to Finley's for the free steak, they have that promotion here in Kalamazoo. We do it all the time for birthdays. Everyone have a great day. Congrats on all the girls who are pregnant, wow, I remember that feeling of wanting to know what I had, the problem was that we couldn't back that long time ago. I just got the colors yellow or green for baby stuff before they were born.

Vomiting, PBing, stuck plus weight gain???
delo replied to jillsart's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded on May 31st, 2007. I have lost around 80lbs and could not have done it without the band. I just had total knee replacement and was not mobile for a long time, I gained 10lbs because of it. I joined Weight Watchers to help me be accountable for losing weight and something's working cause I have lost 6 of the 10 I gained. This is a struggle and will always be cause bad food goes down fine and solid protein does not. I eat cottage cheese and some natural peanut butter and still I don't think I eat right. We are used to eating a whole slab of ribs and can't do that now. Old habits are hard to break, I know it. Sometimes get depressed cause I can't eat, can you imagine that? good luck and keep in touch. -
OMG, President Obama is in Kalamazoo to congratulate the seniors who are graduating from Kalamazoo Central High School. He shook all their hands and gave them a hug, how thrilling is that for the school. They won the chance of thousands of schools all over. President said he wants this to happen every year, to pick a top high school every year for each president to be a guest speaker, not college, high school. Our streets downtown are shut down and security was high here. Weather was beautiful. Oh well, WW tomorrow, I don't think I did quite as good as I wanted.

yeah, it's best you get an unfill. I got sick from the pain meds though.
-
Judy, I didn't have to get an unfill before my surgery, but I am only at 3.5cc in a 10cc band.

Judy, it's Dolores Cosby

Judy, it will be a little longer than 12 weeks before it feels like your regular knee, it was real hard for me to go through, but I bet you'll do better. Make sure you do your exercises after surgery, especiall the one where you get like an old cookie sheet and sit in a chair where you can bend your knee back on the cookie sheet. Put your foot on the cookie sheet and slide it under your chair, you need to have the range of motion and this is the best exercise to do for that. They will push your knee back as far as they can each time you go to PT. I finally got mine to 110 degrees at the end of PT. Log on to my facebook and there is a video on there of me at Borgess after surgery. You will need a walker and a cane, believe me. I couldn't wait to start on the cane after the walker. I gained 10lbs with this surgery and it was on September 23rd last year. that's why I joined WW to lose this unwanted weight. Lost another half pound today at WW. The thought of even getting up to go to the restroom in the middle of the night was frightening, couldn't move out of bed to go, had to have my husband pull me up and move my leg down. I just think you should know what to expect cause no one gave me the news. Take the pain pills in the hospital. Guess what, when you first get out of surgery you go, wow, this is great, I can do this, I'll do my other knee very soon, well, what they do is give you an assortment of pain meds injected in the knee after surgery and you can do anything. Well, when this wore off, let me just tell you, you realize reality, wow. On top of all that, I couldn't take the strong pain medications they gave me, I was so nauseated and light headed and just took Tylenol, wow, I was in some real pain. I think maybe this could be just me, you might do real well, I'm a baby, but it's nice to know what might be. It will be a while before you can walk any distance without tiring. I tried to look around at Target with my daughter about 9 weeks post op and had to rest every couple minutes, just sat while she shopped. Let me tell you though right now I'm happy I did it, no pain. In fact, I can bend it pretty good now. It was hard to get my other knee to bend to get into a tight spot this weekend while the surgery knee did bend quite well. One good and one bad knee now. I will talk to you as you need info.
