First Social Outing Think I Did Ok
Sunflwr76 replied to Erin's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I went out on Saturday night & I ordered off the kids menu! The portion sizes are still quite big for us but at least I wasn't paying $20 for a meal I took 2 bites of!! -
My surgery was on a Friday and got out on Sunday.

Missing My Bubble Baths

I would wait until after the tape/glue dissolves from your incisions. I think mine took up to 4 weeks. -
Not Enough Liquids

It is funny how we were all told something different! I was told not to drink 30 mins before and wait an hour after to drink. -

Surgery Set Up For 5/21 Thinking Of Backing Out
Sunflwr76 replied to john's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Knowledge & Education is key in making such a huge life time commitment like this one! Go with your guy do the research and ask as many questions necessary until you feel comfortable!! You'll do great John -
Thanks OnYx! I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one! Like I stated earlier..I've just started noticing it the past couple days. I don't regret or resent the surgery at all- actually I'm thankful for it. I dont even know if I can describe what I'm feeling...it's weird but I know whatever it is it certainly isn't normal for me.

Yes GAS Will be a problem- WALKING is the key to getting rid of it and of course get yourself some chewable gas-x! Lol

Atcgoddess- I had the gastric bypass on March 30th..I was walking 3-4 miles the week after surgery -however after I got done i was completely exhausted & come home and sleep for a couple of hours! it was way to much to be doing so quickly. I almost ended up in the hospital because of dehydration and just over exerting myself. The dr told me to do about 1/2 mile to start out. I was burning way more calories than what I was taking in. I have lost 30lbs since surgery. I just recently started walking about 2 miles now that my food intake has increased some and I feel great! You will have restrictions such as lifting after surgery. There is a possibility of tearing the incisions internally which is why you shouldn't be lifting anything over 15 lbs. hope this helps!

I'm 5'5, 5 weeks post op (surgery was March 30th) - starting weight 268 (my heaviest ever :/) now I'm 30lbs lighter =238!!
-
You can go and use the treadmill almost immediately after (maybe a week or so) but you can't lift weight or anything hard core for at least 6-8 weeks following your surgery. Hope that helps! Remember you won't be eating hardly anything so you won't be taking in many calories in the beginning- so go light on the exercise in the beginning. The more food you intake the more exercise you can do!

The left side is where almost all the MAJOR work was done inside your abdomin. I to had severe pain and bruising after my surgery. Now, 5 weeks later I feel nothing! It will go away just give it time! Good luck!!
