Waiting To Go Into Surgery!
MsCook replied to Stardusted's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When you wake up, you'll have a great new tool that will be the key to your success. Take it easy during recovery and let us know how you're doing. -
We're excited for you, too, Katie! Glad you have a supportive employer and can do this for YOU! And Vicki, I'm sending good thoughts your way for approval very soon. Good luck!
-
Way to go, Jeff! So gratifying to see the fruits of your labor isn't it?!
-
Whoa! Way to go, girl! That's awesome. Keep up the great work.
-
Congratulations! October will fly by and you will be ready to go before you know it.

My tiredness and sleepiness subsided somewhere around week 3, though I went back to work on day 10. The key is to manage your energy and rest when you need to. Take care!

Pre-Op Testing - It Should Not Be This Hard...
MsCook replied to worm2872's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The hoops will all be worth jumping in the end, though. Hang in there and be persistent. And you are the patient... the customer... of this practice, so demand to be treated with respect and common courtesy. If they are not responsive, I'd find another surgeon. My two cents... -
Keep up hope! It'll happen for you.
-
Fantastic! So happy for your success!

Your hospital, which will be the biggest part of your surgery bill, may be willing to work with you as well. Let them know what's going on and see if they can put together a payment plan before you even go in. Good luck!

Lay the morning paper (date showing) on the floor next to the scale tomorrow morning when you weigh. Then take a picture of the scale, feet, newspaper and all. Proof positive if you really have to go that far! LOL!

I've had some really vivid and action-packed dreams since surgery, too. I just attributed it to sleeping better now that the weight is coming off. Perhaps the sleep apnea is improving...

Congratulations to you! There are tons of great tips and advice on RNY Talk. There's SOOOO much information to share. If you have some specific questions, do be sure to post them and you'll get lots of good input from your fellow RNYers on this site.

Way to go! Keep up the great progress.

My surgeon says we can have diet soda also, but he suggests not having it near mealtime because the carbonation fills our pouch with air instead of the protein and nutrients we need. I have had two diet sodas since my surgery and it seemed to be fine. But I could tell there was a feeling of fullness that it created.

I'm sure you probably could. Right after your surgery you're probably in the creamy liquids stage and carbs are not a big concern. Later, though, you'll have to watch the carb intake. Not all candies are bad about it but you just have to read the labels. Hope you feel better soon!

Your surgery date will be here before you know it! Good luck to you.

Revision From Band To Rny And Why.
MsCook replied to Vicki Loichinger's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I hope your insurance approval comes through for you and that you get the relief you are seeking and deserve! -
Hi Shirley. Welcome! I am slightly ahead of you in the process... by about 2 months... so don't hesitate to reach out with any questions. I am by no means an expert, but am happy to share what I know from my experiences. Best to you!

That's what we're here for... each other!

Passed My Psych Evaluation!

Good for you! You will be at the hospital ready to go before you know it! -
I understand that the lighter, clear alcoholic beverages are lower in sugar content, so maybe you'd be better to try those.
-
Glad to hear it! Good for you.

Half of this battle is between our ears, not in our tummies. You are on the right track and you have to just convince yourself that you're not giving up things forever... just while you lose. Then you just have to maintain. Think of it like this: while you're losing, it is a great tool so that you can diet hard without hunger. After you've lost it, you just eat "in miniature." Hope that helps.

Try fresh fish... almost any kind... seasoned with Chef Paul Prudhomme's Seafood Magic Seasoning. Put foil on a flat sheet pan, spray with non-stick spray (like Pam), season both sides of fish and put it on the foil. Bake in the oven at 375 until fish is no longer opaque. Length of time will vary depending on filet thickness. Delicious, healthy, and NOOOO fat!
