Music 1618 makes a great point. No need inviting complications. Watch out not to take medicines with aspirin in them, though, as you shouldn't have aspirin products right before your surgery. Good luck and feel better!

"omfg Wait...you're Having What Type Of Surgery"?
MsCook commented on lovealways's blog entry in lovealways' Blog
You go, girl! You know what you want and you're going after it! I, too, told people and was glad to hear that most people were very supportive. They can like it or lump it... I could care less either way. I've done this for me! :-) -
Wrapping My Mind Around My Weight Loss
MsCook replied to jennamommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Way to go! You can really tell a difference in the rear-view shot. Keep up the great work! -
Congratulations! You can DEFINITELY tell and the photos have to be so encouraging to you. Congrats on the 50# milestone.

I had surgery on 8/10 and you'll be relieved to know that by 2 1/2 to 3 weeks out, the soreness, even tightness or pulling, is completely gone. Though I did not have external staples. Mine were dissolving stitches that do not have to be removed. Best to you both on the journey!

Probably nothing to worry about but I would definitely mention it to the doctor on your follow up visit. You should probably have a follow up scheduled for 1 - 2 weeks post-op. That's the purpose of that visit... to check in on how you're doing and see what questions have come up. Good luck.
-
Congratulations on taking this big step! You will find that the time you have to wait will FLY by! There's so much to do, to learn, and to be excited about. Way to go!

Glad to hear you're doing well and that you feel so much better! Welcome to the RNY Talk group.

ummm. Maybe it's a traffic jam? Everything "flowing through" as it should?
-
Full liquids would be things like low fat/cal/carb yogurt, creamy soups, sugar-free pudding, etc.
-
Good luck to you! Hang in there. It WILL be worth it!

It probably wouldn't hurt you but watch the sugar content so you don't dump. How about a Miller 64 (64-calorie beer)?

I hear you about being impatient and wanting to do this right away. I, too, was impatient and didn't want to wait, but had to for insurance reasons. However, the six month period of time really FLEW by and was also beneficial to me in preparing for this. Let me give you a few examples. During the six month period, I: Learned as much as I could about the surgery and how to be successful Prepared myself mentally for the lifestyle changes that would be required Cut sugar from my diet to help ready myself Reduced my caffeine intake Gained new habits like not looking for the closest parking space, but taking a distant one in order to get in more walking. Set expectations and context for family members Established my support mechanisms And more! Whatever you choose to do, the best of luck to you!

Omg! Only 28 More Pounds Till My Goal Weight
MsCook replied to TinyMamiOf3kids's topic in The Gals' Room
You can do it! I'm sure your surgeon will appreciate your gratitude. -
It'll be here before you know it, Lou! Good luck!

Yep! Rumbly tummy is just par for the course. Seems to be air bubbles and gas rumbling around and simethicone drops ("Little Tummys" for babies) seems to help some with that.

Your foot doctor is truly doing you a favor by recommending this for you. I am only 2 weeks post-op and, with my pre-op liquid diet, have lost about 32 pounds. Even that relatively small amound has made a huge difference in my energy levels and my comfort in mobility. It will for you too!

Comfy Sleep Positions?
MsCook replied to 2ndTimesTheCharm's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am also a tummy sleeper, but I found that I could at least sleep on my side/front if I wedged a soft pillow under my tummy area. Sometimes had to move that setup from side to side, but it beats sleeping flat on your back which I really cannot do. -
There are no calories that can seep through the TV, I promise! I, too, love to watch Food Network, but have cut my viewing of that WAY back because it really does make me hungry... at least in my head. LOL!

You could try hummus or really mashed egg salad.

Scallops! Good For Soft Stage
MsCook replied to moofish's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you haven't already, try Chef Paul Prudhomme's "Seafood Magic" seasoning on broiled or baked fish, scallops, shrimp, almost any seafood. Available in most grocery stores' spice area. YUMMY! -
1 Week After Surgery And I Stepped On The Scale...
MsCook replied to bekki03's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've lost a total of 30# in 30 days (17 days pre-op and 13-days post-op). I had lost 17 before surgery and the balance after (that is, after losing the fluid weight and then beginning to lose further). I have heard that it is realistic to lose a pound a day for the first 0 - 90 days. I'm hoping that works for me to day 90+. :-) -
Awesome! Good for you. Can't wait to be right there too and able to say I have lost 70#!

Sick And Tired Of Sick And Tired !
MsCook replied to barebones's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't felt nauseated but agree with a "yucky" not-feeling-well (tummy ache, not nausea) sensation when I begin to get empty/hungry. -
Cottage Cheese Shooters!
MsCook replied to jadeharper's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Jade, I noticed the same thing! You really can tell where it is and where it's going! Weird yes, but what a great feeling of control over what's happening with your body. If you're empty, eat and feel satisfied with just a little. If you're full or over full, relax and let it work its way through the system.
