It's crazy because I had to be at the hospital at 6am the morning of my surgery and I couldn't sleep. I actually was afraid of my alarm not going off! I figured I would sleep during the surgery :~). Best wishes tomorrow!!!

Can you send it to romellewhite@gmail.com? Thank you!

I went to Dr Machado's seminar and she was very impressive. I just decided that I didnt want all of the red tape required by my insurance (BCBS) and switched to Kaiser. I joined in Jan, met w surgeon in Feb and had surgery in May. She would have been my surgeon, however, if I had not made the switch.

Worldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com IS excellent. She has a recipe for a puréed Ricotta bake that has truly made this stage of my diet so much easier. Check her out!

Does that really work? The Claritin under the tongue? Because my allergies are making me miserable and the children's liquid is not effective. And crushing is a disaster. Are you taking D or regular? Thank you!

Psychiatric Evaluation
romellewhite replied to jeanetteramirez2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know there are differences between centers but mine was pretty standard. He was basically trying to figure out if I had an eating disorder like bingeing or purging, things that need to be worked out prior to surgery. He wanted my definition of what a binge was and how much food I would eat if I were bingeing. He also wanted to know if I had a realistic goal weight in mind and had the mindset necessary to be able to handle the work involved to lose weight. Like if I knew that exercise is for life and that I could not resume my former eating habits. I had a good appointment and he recommended mindful eating classes so that I would slow down and savor food post op. Hope that helped. -

Post Gastric Bypass Surgery Recipe Books...
romellewhite replied to sweet's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try "Recipes for Weight Loss Surgery" (title is long but I know it's close to that) by Margaret Furtado. New book and has some good recipes. -
I could not find liquid Tylenol for adults but I spoke w a pharmacist who said take the children's and increase the dosage. It seems to be working for me. There is liquid for adults but most pharmacies do not seem to carry it, something about it not selling, according to the Target pharmacist.

This is one of my questions. I cannot stomach the idea of puréed meat (start tomorrow) so I am depending on beans and mashed potatoes as well. Can we purée tuna?

I went to my 1st week postop Friday but forgot to ask my surgeon, when can we take a bath? I am so tired of showers and miss soaking in a tub. Anyone know?

Missing My Bubble Baths
romellewhite replied to romellewhite's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's the problem I have, the differences between surgeons, especially when it is something I want to do. I find myself thinking, how come they get to do that and I can't :~)? This just happened to be something that was not addressed in my handbook. I would also LOVE to swim. -
"oh, How I Miss You...."
romellewhite replied to sweet's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well said, Sweet. This is journey we are all on and I don't think anyone has ever done this 100% perfectly. It is nice to have somewhere you can admit that, yeah, you dream about Mexican food. And you know we are all going to personally see what dumping is like :~). -
It is on my surgeon's approved list. I am one week post op and it seems to be the only flavored drink I can stomach. Sobe Life, Vitamin Water Zero and most Crystal Lights (things I drank preop) are so disgusting to me now.

Kaiser In N. California
romellewhite replied to SweetGabrielle's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Which part of No California? I had my surgery at the So Sacramento hospital. I loved the program (it is new/surgeries just started in Feb) and was very pleased w my surgeon Dr. Grinberg. I go to a support group here full of patients from Richmond who swear by Dr. Baggs. Wish you success in whatever you choose! -
One Year Gastric Bypass Surgery Anniversary
romellewhite replied to DLCoggin's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You have truly captured why we have surgery. It is not just to lose weight; it is to regain our lives. Loved what you wrote. Congratulations! -
I am totally with you. I had surgery May 3rd and I am still trying to learn my system. I have "head hunger" cravings like French fries and burritos but when I sit down to eat, I am barely getting in 2 oz of soup. I am struggling to meet the requirements given by my surgeon. It is so strange to not want to eat at all. And to realize the cravings in my head have nothing to do with my appetite.
