I'm 7 yrs post op. My initial wt was 244, I'm only 5'1". I'm now 158. From size 20-22 to size 8. I have a consult with plastic surgeon this Monday. The skin is finally bothering me. My pannus or apron or belly is sweaty. And I've started having Brest pain. After speaking with my Dr it's good to get an eval. Based on how many stitched are required around your torso there's no way to avoid the scars. I can live with that, I want to be comfortable. Hope that helps. I keep you posted. I lost 90 lbs. It was well worth it. I have type II Diabetes, and my average sugars post meals are 110. The only food I couldn't eat for about 5 years or so was rice. One forkful totally filled me up. Now I can eat about a 1/4-1/3 cup, but no more. My consult is May 7th.

Hello all, I'm very glad to be a part of this group. I'm 8 years post op. I was a size 22 & am now a size 8-10 & maintaining that weight. I lost about 80 lbs. I can now eat a normal sized meal, but my eating habits have totally changed. I'm a vegetarian, & I do eat fish occasionally. I use regular sugar now, but used only Splenda for 7 yrs post op. drink diet soda. I eat things like beans, lentils, quinoa, a have discovered a WORLD of vegetables. All labs are normal. I'm very happy. I might add, I still can't eat a whole veggie sub from Subway in one sitting. It's a waste of money to take me to a buffet. Lol! While I'm still diabetic, my sugars are normal. I do yoga instead of walking due to an injured back. That's a ton about me now!! Gonna have a consult with plastic surgeon next week or so for reconstructive surgery!! Hope to hear from you all.

I'm from Philly originally. Now I live in South Jersey. My surgery was done @ Barix in Langhorne, PA on May 5th, 2005. Congratulations. I'm having a consult with the reconstructive plastic surgery in a couple of weeks. So glad that you fought & won. Prayers for a fantastic outcome for you.
