Post Gastric Bypass Surgery Recipe Books...
blankmama replied to sweet's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yay! Look forward to getting a new cookbook or two. -
My husband royally pissed me off tonight. I'm a student at our local community college, next week is finals, I had a project due today that I wasn't able to turn in but my instructor said I could do turn it in Tuesday, day of our final. So I'm working on it. Yes, laundry needs to be done! Yes, dishwasher needs up be run! We're strapped financially right now so his tension is high already. I'm sitting at the computer working on my project and he proceeds to lay into me about our finances. And how now I'm trying to have stomach surgery because i can't control my eating habits. I know he said it out of anger but it came from somewhere. That's really how he feels, I'm sure of it. I'm too stubborn to cry at the insult but I'm upset. It hurts to know that that's what he thinks. He's been fairly supportive so far. I know he's stressed. I know it's a financial burden to do it, to drive almost 200 miles to go see the doctor. I know it is! He went with me to my first appointment, he said it would be okay. I feel like i should have cancelled the appointment for tomorrow and if he would have come out and asked me to do that I would have, I would have willingly postponed it. But he thinks I should know what he's thinking. Gah! He worse than a woman. For crying out loud, just last night he said its okay because I've been studying for finals and working on my project. He was kind and understanding. I don't want him to be the one doing laundry and cleaning the house. I want help but he works full time and is exhausted by the time he gets home. It's just been a difficult semester because I've overloaded my schedule. Sorry for ranting I'm just frustrated, hurt and upset. Thanks for listening. :/

Okay I don't see how there is a possible way to choose just one to spotlight. There are so many people on this forum who deserve it. -
What's Been The Hardest?
blankmama replied to blankmama's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Thank you both. -
You're welcome. Just remember first and foremost is your health. That Protein is so important. Just don't do the shots. The collagen protein won't absorb good enough. I haven't had surgery yet but I'm sure I'll be asking all sorts of questions when I do.

I had a friend who's 9 years out that she was the same way Panda. She can eat eggs now but still doesn't like them the same as before.

I think he's an excellent candidate for the member spotlight. 4th! You've inspired us with your words I think it'd be great for you. -
Try to find protein you like. Cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, tuna, Greek yogurt, protein bar, find a protein powder you like. Go online and look for sample sizes. Good luck!

On my way to revision from lap band to gastric bypass
blankmama replied to cassieme1's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I'm so sorry for what you're going through. I'm glad that you've all posted this information on here though. I'm looking into RNY but my mom has been trying to talk me into getting banded instead. I've heard the stories from both sides. I know I wouldn't do well with the band. I need the possibility of the dumping syndrome to scare me away from sugar and fats. Your posting your experience here helps those of us who haven't undergone surgery yet. Thank you -

I hear that a lot. Would it work to mix powder with only 2 oz Water or milk instead of 6-8 oz? -

My surgeon said to keep sugar alcohol intake fairly low, or at leadt keep aware of it She said that it will cause gas and therefore a lot of discomfort if you have too much.

What Protein Shakes Do You Use?
blankmama replied to LosingItForMe2011's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
According to my surgeon the protein shots are not good for you after surgery. The protein in them is mostly from collagen. She said it will not absorb the same as the other Proteins. The way she put it is if you use those you'll LOOK like you had gastric bypass, meaning you'll look unhealthy. She said that only a small amount of the protein will be absorbed and you'd have to drink a lot more for them to do any good. I thought they seemed like a good idea until she explained it. -

Think thin are also available at WinCo if you don't have a whole foods near you. I tried chocolate strawberry and lemon cream pie. They're good but need to be eaten slowly for sure, even of you haven't had RNY yet. -

Kinda Sorta Gotta Date! (I Think)
blankmama replied to lessofme's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Oh my goodness, I've been having the same thoughts. I don't really mind people knowing my business, I should but I don't. I worry that i'm going to regret it and that I'm going to hear I told you so from people. I'm not scheduled for surgery yet but my pre-op is scheduled for June 22 or something close to that. -
Welcome to our little family of support here. Congrats on your surgery.
