Friday Weigh-In!
Jen in SoCal replied to KevinsBabyGirl85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart! I really needed that encouragement. I'm so jealous of everyone else who has lost 20+ pounds while at the same time, I've lost 9! -
Bathroom Talk - Scared
Jen in SoCal replied to Tbeiley's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same experience. I called my mom, who's a retired icu nurse and she said the same thing they told you. It's probably left over from surgery. Call the doctor back if you're still nervous about it. That's what they're there for. -
Digestive Problems

I only take one multivitamin. Liquid calcium citrate w/vit D and magnesium B12 complex sublingual Vitamin c (helps the body absorb iron) And biotin I'm supposed to take my iron now as well but I have yet to find a chewable. I have an appointment with my nutritionist Monday so I'm going to ask for some clarification on the amounts I'm supposed to be taking. My multivite already had iron in it and I don't want to take too much. -

This Is Almost A Deal Breaker!
Jen in SoCal replied to poker aggie's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Mine was in and out while I was asleep. I've had them for surgeries before and you can't even feel it. It doesn't hurt. It just feels weird when they take it out. I can't imagine it's that much different for men. Its better than peeing all over yourself! -
The airline will try to accomodate you if there are empty seats on the plane. If there are no empty seats then they will have to charge you for another seat and ask a volunteer to give up their seat for compensation. The price they charge varies depending on the airline. Some will charge a lower fare than the day of departure walk up fare. Your best bet is to call whatever airline's you are traveling on reservation department directly. If you bought your ticket from a third party online ie; Priceline, Travelocity, Orbitz, don't bother calling them. They probably won't and can't help you. For peace of mind you may want to think about purchasing another seat. If you do that, do it through reservations, not online. There is a special process for it and you will obviously need to reserve two seats next to eachother. If you feel you would rather wait and see till you get to the airport, go to the full service ticket counter and let them know your situation. They will try to help you. If you have any more questions, please feel free to send me a personal message on here.

Gastric Bypass Surgery Today Went Well
Jen in SoCal replied to gotmichebags's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Nice! Glad to hear all went smoothly. -
I feel like I need a nap most days. I'm still a little sore in my left side, which is the side I sleep on. It keeps me from getting a restful nights sleep. Most mornings I wake up because I'm uncomfortable, not because I've had enough sleep.

Sad story. A little scary too -
I'm taking six weeks off. My job requires me to be on my feet for my entire eight hour shift and involves some heavy lifting.

I'm curious to know this as well. The other day i crushed up two Tylenol and put it in my diet cranberry juice (I'm still on liquids). It tasted like poison!!! I've decided to live with discomfort instead of enduring that horrible concoction again. I have arthritis and so far I have been lucky enough to not have any serious issues with that, probably because I'm not working. I have another question. Where in the world do you find liquid Tylenol for adults?

Exactly! I literally felt like I had split a muscle it hurt so bad! Mine was in my belly, near my navel. Try an ice pack if you can stand it. In my case u was told as the sutures start to dissolve it will go away, but it seems a little better today. I just have to be very careful when I sit down or bend over.

The same thing happened to me. The pain I was felling was like a splitting pain. I swore I had a muscle tearing in my side! When I went for my two week check a couple days ago I complained about it and this is what I was told. The left side is where they do all the major work, as you probably know from the size if your incision there. The sutures they use there are much deeper than in your other incisions. I was told that the deep sutures are probably attached to the muscle there. What I was feeling was the suture tugging on the muscle. This made perfect sense to me but it still hurt!! Just like you, I only get the pain when I'm sitting or bending. I used an ice pack and that seemed to help ALOT. Definitely check with your doctor. That's an absolute no brainer, but just know you're not going through this alone. That pain scared me for sure, but it's starting to go away now. You and I had our surgeries a day apart I think. We're still healing so sometimes what we are feeling changes.

Low Calorie Protein Drink Recipes
Jen in SoCal replied to StartingOver's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I absolutely HATE the vanilla shakes I bought and I have almost a case left. The are way to sweet for my taste. Today I added a teaspoon of instant coffee to about two table spoons of hot water, Added two ice cubes to cool it off after mixing, Then I added about 8 oz of my vanilla protein shake all in my shaker cup, Shook it up and voila! It tastes kinda like a cold vanilla latte, it's still pretty sweet, but now it tastes like a treat! -
That's great. I sure hope you feel better soon :-)
