Friday Weigh-In!
Jen in SoCal replied to KevinsBabyGirl85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Last week: 206 This week: 201 It seems like I'm losing about 5 pounds a week, which I am pretty satisfied with. I'm hoping to amp it up a bit because now I'm walking two and a half miles a day 4 days a week and maybe a half mile the other days. I gotta get in shape to get back to work! The really awesome news is I tried on my work uniforms yesterday. I had been squeezing into them busting seams and popping buttons for about two years...they slipped on effortlessly! They might even be too big when I go back to work in two and a half weeks! Super stoked!!!! -
I'll be 4 weeks out on Monday and I still have discomfort in my left side. I think it's getting better every day though. I still have some of the skin glue and a scab (gross, sorry) and a bit of a lump on that incision site. Wondering how long that will take to go away.

I Under 200 Pounds Wow!
Jen in SoCal replied to TinyMamiOf3kids's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's great! Doesn't it feel wonderful to know all your hard work is paying off? Really happy for you :-) -
I also believe its for both. I think it really helps with the mindset of THE SURGERY IS NOT GOING TO MAGICALLY MAKE YOU LOSE THE WEIGHT. I personally think the two week liquid diet was great because I couldn't imagine eating the way I was before and then, BAM! The next day your dealing with recovering from surgery and the fact that you're never going to be able to eat the same way again. For me, that would have been hard to handle mentally. It's hard work, but so worth it. It's kind of like a backwards weaning. LOL hope that makes sense.

Did you recently stop your pain meds? That can cause insomnia.

143 pounds with diet and exercise is amazing! Hats off to you. You're going to do great after surgery!

Did you tell them that when you called? You don't want to get yourself too backed up. You could also try a glycerin suppository or fleet enema if you feel really constipated. Honestly, I think most of the pain I was experiencing in the second week was due to constipation. I told them I was constipated at my two week check and I got the response I seem to get a lot lately "Oh, that's normal" It's funny, it used to be every time I complained about something, no matter what it was, they would tell me it was because of my weight. Now I just keep getting told that I'm normal! Lol

Post Gastric Bypass Surgery Recipe Books...
Jen in SoCal replied to sweet's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I found a book at Barnes and noble called "Eating well after weight loss surgery" it had some really delicious looking recipes in it. I didn't buy it because it was a little overpriced in the store. I'm planning on buying it on amazon for a lot less. I liked it because it gave you recipes for all stages of diets. -
Kizzy, I love how you tell it like it is!
-
Oops sorry. I goofed up. I meant to say you can look forward to not being hungry after surgery! Best of luck to you!

Yes, I see my nutritionist tomorrow and I get to start purée foods. I'm so happy! I've been on liquids for 5 weeks now. Two weeks preop and three weeks postop.

Digestive Problems
Jen in SoCal replied to kmiller's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh that's good. I still have the ones I took during my preop diet. I'll give it a try today. I tried it with a couple of Tylenol and it tasted like poison! I have an appointment with my nutritionist tomorrow, I get to start purée! Yippeeee! I have so many questions for her, it took up three pages in my notebook! -

Do they taste horrible that way? What do you mix them with? -
Just Tried Butternut Squash Soup!
Jen in SoCal replied to Jen in SoCal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'll have to try it. I have to say as a kid my mom would make a huge pot of split pea soup and practically force feed it to us kids. I've avoided it my entire adult life for that reason. I'm going to give it another shot. Who knows, I might love it. -

Post Gastric Bypass Surgery Day 4 Issues?
Jen in SoCal replied to armywifet's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drink smart water too. Before surgery I could drink two a day easily. Now I struggle with one. -
I've noticed I've become very uncouth and just burp out loud whenever the need arises. I have to do it though because it hurts otherwise!
