Not everyone gets a drain. I didn't have one.

Just search for my fitness pal and it pops up. It's a blue icon with a little guy jumping on it.

Back To Work Today
Jen in SoCal replied to Jen in SoCal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The pain the first few days was rough for me, but tolerable with pain meds. After the first week I only took meds one or two times at bedtime when it felt like I overdid it that day. I wish I could give more advise but it's been years since I had a desk job. I think I could have gone back after two weeks if I had a sit down job. I would say the most challenging thing that second week was lack of energy and figuring out eating/drinking. -
Super nervous. Only one coworker knows why I have been out for six weeks. They all know I had surgery but they don't know what kind. I'm also nervous about my eating/drinking. I hope I can time it right. Wish me luck!

I've been craving them and raw spinach too but I'm afraid to try. If I remember correctly the nutritionist told me six months to a year for raw veggies.

Back To Work Today
Jen in SoCal replied to Jen in SoCal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It really depends on how you handle the surgery. I thought I would do great since I had four surgeries already. But I was in a lot of pain that first week. The second week was better. But I had zero energy Everyone is different though. I've seen some people post they had no pain at all. I sure couldnt afford to take the time off unpaid but I saved three weeks sick time and I had a week paid vacation thrown in there. I'm lucky enough to live in the state of California where they have state disability and the surgery qualifies for that after my sick leave was used up. It's only 55% of your pay but it sure is better than nothing. -
Still haven't decided which to do first but, I have decided since my commute is about an hour, I'll drink my 30 gram protein shake on the way to work instead of coffee. I tried it yesterday and it worked well for me. I only drink coffee maybe once a week now so it's no loss there. I'm getting in half a days protein and I don't have to rush to the restroom as soon as I arrive anymore. Coffee and a weak bladder didn't mix well for me. LOL

Back To Work Today
Jen in SoCal replied to Jen in SoCal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My job is kind of strenuous and stressful. I also have to stand for my entire 8 hour shift, we're not allowed to sit or lean. There is no way I could have gone back after 2 or 3 weeks. I would have ended up in the hospital LOL. besides, it was the surgeon's recommendation. -
Helpful Tools That Help You With Your Rny Routines?
Jen in SoCal replied to LosingItForMe2011's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I bought the most handy little thing. It's a measuring glass. It looks like a big shot glass and it measures ml, oz, tsp and tbs. Total 4 oz. I use it every day for almost every meal and it takes up so much less space than measuring cups and spoons. Maybe you guys already have one but I absolutely LOVE it. -

I just friended a few more of you. Hope that's ok. I'm Jennifer Diviny-Fountain on Facebook. Anyone who wants to add me, feel free. -
I feel like you're making a good decision. You shouldn't have this surgery unless YOU feel you are ready for it. It is definitely life changing. If you're not ready for that right now, it's best to hold off. Best of luck to you on your continuing weight loss. Please stay a part of this forum family.

My insurance had a once in a lifetime option. I figured I would go all in because of that. -

Just Got Approved
Jen in SoCal replied to patiently waiting80's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congratulations! It is very exciting isn't it? I remember the day I got approval I felt like I won the lottery :-) -
Thanks ladies. I really appreciate your advise. I think I'm going to try the citrical petites but I should make sure I can actually swallow a pill first. One other question I have that I should have asked at my appointment, how much Water can I drink with a pill? Just a sip? And do I count that as eating or drinking? Ugh So confusing!! @lynn I take Centrum chewables, two a day and I take my b12 separately from my calcium.

Cold & Hot & Low Blood Pressure
Jen in SoCal replied to TinyMamiOf3kids's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I seem to be really intolerant to cold lately. Most nights I have to put on socks and sleep with two blankets on. It's gets pretty chilly here at night, like 55 or 60 but it feels absolutely freezing to me! I think your blood pressure is probably ok. I went to the dr today and mine was 106/61 I asked if that's low and was told it was good. I was surprised by that. I wish I would have asked about being cold all the time but I forgot. When is your next postop appointment? My advice would be write down everything that you have a question about. I should have done that. -
Well I had my 6 week postop today and I lost 1 pound since Friday. Lol that's ok, I'll take it. I think I need to lay off the avocados. The neighbor keeps bringing us baskets full and they're so delicious! They go down way too easy though LOL I live in southern California with my fiancé and our 5 year old daughter. I have two other daughters, 16 and 21 that live in the Midwest with their dad. They just didn't want to pick up their lives and move out here with me. I work for an airline, ticket counter, gates, etc customer service. I love my job but I don't want to go back to work tomorrow! My six weeks is up though and the time has come.

Soup Post - Opp
Jen in SoCal replied to kiwiladydee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can make egg drop soup so easy at home. Just boil some chicken broth and whisk in a scrambled egg. It looks a little iffy but it's very satisfying. I agree, the stuff from a Chinese restaurant is too greasy and they also add corn starch. I'm not sure but I think that would add carbs. -
I have. Just take teeny tiny bites and chew like there's no tomorrow. I will even spit it into my napkin (very ladylike of course) if it feels like I can't chew it enough. May I suggest the filet mignon? Lol. Seriously, it will be the most tender. Good luck and happy anniversary!

I had to stop wearing my ring because it was literally falling off. I don't want to get mine resized either because I'm only six weeks out.

Youre in our thoughts and prayers. I'm pretty sure there isn't anyone on this board that wasn't scared out of their wits as the big day approached. Good luck and keep us posted when you feel up to it. :-)

Drop It Like It's Hot!
Jen in SoCal replied to TinyMamiOf3kids's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yolyann, we are practically neighbors! Yay! You must be about halfway between my home and my work! We absolutely must keep in close contact. I could really use an excercise buddy. Where are you having you're surgery? I had mine at Chapman in Orange.
