Questions...
Jen in SoCal replied to mamalovesfootball's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh, and I was 215 the day of surgery, after losing 19 pounds preop. I'm now 189 7 weeks out. I'm losing slowly. The doctors seem to think I'm doing great though. Whatever, all I know is I feel so much better now! -
Questions...
Jen in SoCal replied to mamalovesfootball's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have suffered with palpitations for years as well. I had some the night I got home after surgery. I was exhausted-usually a trigger for mine. It scared the heck out of me but I was so tired I just knocked out I'm 7 weeks post-op and I've lost a total of 45 pounds. I've also cut my caffeine intake by about 90%. I'm sure both of things played a major role. No palpitations since that day. Fingers crossed. My periods have always been super heavy and last more than a week sometimes. I've only had one since surgery so I hope to see some improvement there. Miraculously I have only tested anemic a couple times in my adult life. I hope you get the relieve you're looking for. -
Tactless People And Their Stupid Comments.
Jen in SoCal replied to Jen in SoCal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks all. This guy is someone I have always avoided talking to because frankly, I think he's a total weirdo. It just sort of kept echoing in my head as soon as I grasped what he had said to me. Work has always been somewhere that I felt valued because of my skills and my personality and a comment like that just cut to the bone. I think self esteem is something most of us have or had issues with and it's been a problem for me ever since I was a child. Now that my protective layer (my fat) is going away, I feel more vulnerable than ever. -
Any Tips To Minimize Hair Loss?
Jen in SoCal replied to Erin's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was wondering if someone can describe what the hair loss is like. is it an all over thinning or is it more like "male pattern baldness" that is mostly visible in the front? And one other question, Dont you think it would be awesome if you lost all the hair on the rest of your body and not your head? LOL -
I was told 600 to 800 a day and try to keep the sugar carbs under 5 sugar carbs per meal.

Skin Firming Cream/lotions
Jen in SoCal replied to purpleamy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use bio oil on my face and neck. It's supposed to help sagging skin but I'm honestly not sure it helps for me and I've been using it for two years. I will say I hardly ever have breakouts and it's great for flakey skin. -
My 6Th Month Visit
Jen in SoCal replied to pug.twins's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's wonderful! Yay you! -
I can eat 4 oz of some things, like cottage cheese. I can still only eat two oz of things like meat or other dense foods. I'm six weeks out. I'm worried it's too much.

Jen in SoCal replied to Jessica89's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am originally from Michigan and there is a good possibility I will be there at that time. Would love to participate if I can. I will be coming from Oakland County. If you find out any more details please post them. Thanks -

Helpful Tools That Help You With Your Rny Routines?
Jen in SoCal replied to LosingItForMe2011's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I bought mine at a grocery store called Winco but just by coincidence today I saw the exact same one at CVS pharmacy in the aisle with the kitchen supplies. My guess is you can get them just about anywhere. Here's a picture -

From reading everyone's posts I have to say I really lucked out. I looked over my paperwork yesterday and my first appointment was on March 27th. I had my surgery April 30th. My bmi was 40.1 with no co-morbidities. I had insurance approval and a surgery date in less than two weeks. I have to admit it all happened so fast it was a little head spinning. There were days that I crammed in 3 appointments and the stress was unbelievable but I managed. I am honestly not bragging, I just feel truly blessed.

Congratulations. I'm excited for everyone!
