I'm 10 days post op and tonight was very short of breath. I called my doc and he sent me to the hospital. I've been here the past 3 hrs. Waiting the results of a cat scan. They said there's a chance of a pulmonary embolism (blood clot in lung). Has anyone else had this experience? It was very scary breathing like that and my heart was fast. I also got chest pain. I'm getting winded just walking down the street. Ill post when I have the results of my cat scan. Hoping its negative :\

thank you! im breathing a little better and was able to sleep 5 hrs with no back pain. they have me on a few different antibiotics and pain meds. theyre deff working! ill deff be here another night tho. wanna make sure im 120% before i go home. thx for ur support!

thank you for all your prayers and kind words. after 2 catscans i was told no PE however my pnemonia came back pretty strong and i have fluid and air in my stomach. so they admitted me. idk how long ill be here. my surgeon has me on iv meds and just wants to watch. should heal itself but theres a chance ill need a drain. i cant tell u how much the pain hurts

i had the lap band too and converted to gastric bypass. i lost 70lbs in 9 months with the lapband. but gained it back cuz its so easy to find ways around the band lol. i dont believe its true that most ppl need a revision after 3 yrs. if u mentally prepare yourself before u should do fine. its just a tool.

i had the revision too. i never heard of removing the band pre surgery tho. my doc removed it at the same time he did the rny. no point in going thru an extra surgery. he just unfilled my band about 2 months before surgery.

yea 3-5 yrs is wat my doc said. why would u wana get preggo before loosing your weight?

thats a given but a glass of crystal light will add more to.ur daily h2o count than a popsicle. but popsicles r great for snacks

ive never been preggo but i know youre supposed to wait til a few yrs after surgery to get pregnant.

i feel bad for those of you who needed to do the liquid diet for 28 days. thats crazy! i only needed to do it for a week. and ive never seen my doc tell anyone to do it for more than 2 weeks. hang in there!!

there is one called whey factors for $17 at whole foods. i use the strawberry one its pretty good. also glucerna shakes r very yummy. carnation instant breakfast is my fav. i add unflavored protein powder to it. my doc has his own brand of high protein items but theyre very expensive

i am so sorry to hear about your experience in the hospital. i had to actually stay 2 extra nights due to phnemonia. but i had great care. i know what u mean about cabin fever. i am 9 days out and i went out yesterday with my mom. after 2 hrs i was ready to pass out. i know it sucks having to stay home. but its best to take it easy as long as u can. i go out to walk down the st n back 4 times a day. im looking for email support buddies. feel free to email me at law8486@hotmail.com laurel

i have crystal light in my water because i also hate plain water. theyre all good. just dont do the iced tea because it has caffiene in it

im 9 days post op and i used to drink skim milk. now just looking at it makes me sick. idk why lol. so ive being drinking Lactaid which tastes great. also, fish is wayy more appealing to me. which is good cuz its healthy.

omg im so happy to find this thread! i also had the band for 3 yrs. did great the first yr then gained it all back n then lost my "sweet spot". i just had the conversion to rny on 4/6/12. only 9 days ago and im already down 25lbs. i cant tell u how glad i am i made this switch! yeah the scars much bigger and ugly lol but idc.

yeah what doctor told you it was ok to drink soda? youre not supposed to have anything carbonated EVER. it can cause you complications. plus its just bad for u.

yeah i hear ya. but its a good test of ur self control. i worked alot of self control before surgery. but since surgery i honestly dont crave any of the bad stuff.

Hey all! My name is Laurel and I'm 25 years old. I had gastric bypass on April 6, 2012. Yupp only 8 days ago. I am down 20lbs I am still pretty sore but trying to stay active. I feel like I have a whole new outlook on my life. i had lapband surgery in 2009 and lost weight but gained it back. i dont think.i was mature enough for that change back then. I am very positive now and wouldnt change this for anything. Does anyone have any tips on a good tasting Protein powder? ive tried a few but theyre just alright. very glad i found this place! and its an app right on my phone any advice would be great!! *Laurel*

oh yeah my doctor and dieticien makes us stop soda wayy before surgery. it makes it easier to not crave it after. plus believe or not studies show that even diet soda is just as bad as regular soda.

im on oxicodine for the pain so im not driving until im done with the meds. if youre on heavy meds then you really shouldnt be driving.
